the volume doesn't really change. notice it comes on when he walks up to it and fades out when he walks away. He's got it going through some kind of effects pedal or something so it's not a constant sound. Still dumb though.

Cats are permanently annoyed (particularly with humans), seek to take over the world (or at least the cheeseburger stands) and have absolutely no interest in theremins as far as I can tell. The guy and the kid aren't annoying the cat any more than them being in the house anyway would do.

You can play the theremin without using the volume antenna. As your hand gets nearer, it outputs a lower volume. You can set 'zero beat' to a short distance and then when you move your hand (or cat) within that range then it will begin to output sound.

When cats are being mistreated they WILL react; many cats actually enjoy being lightly "spanked" on their backs (just search youtube for that) and if they were uncomfortable they will attack back. Don't forget that domestic cats are exactly the same as wild felines; they have never been fully domesticated as it happened with dogs vs. wild wolves, so they will fight back.

The (gorgeous) cat in this video appears to be merely bored, but that's hardly cruelty.
