  • My wee grandchildren 4 & 2 love this and ask me to play it all the time!!,thank you.

  • YEAH!!!!!!! i HAVE BEEN SINGING THIS ALL MY LIFE!!

  • So glad to find this! I've been singing it all my life.

  • Going to sing it at our Ladybug Release Party in the Lords Park Zoo on July 16. Come by if you're near Elgin, IL!

  • OMG !!! I was just singing this song to my wife... And guess what... it's on youtube ! Thanks for posting this !

  • lol..".they talked about the high price of furniture and rugs, and fire insurance for lady bugs..." I'm sure those words wouldn't have meant a thing to little kids...but such a cute song. ; )

  • Thanks for putting that on here. My son danced like a mad man when he was 2 to that song! He's now 22 and of course doesn't remember it at all but you certainly made my day.

  • This does bring back memories. other "cuties" to check out: the chicken or the egg; ten tiny turtles; and that number 6 song with the fiddlin' farmer.

  • well thanks a freaking lot!! Now I can't get the dang song out of my head!!!!!

  • You are my new hero! Thanks so much for uploading this! Back when Sesame Street was worth watching... :D

  • At the Ladybugs Picnic

  • This song is kickass.

  • Singing along

  • There are more frames/second as well! Thanks for this improvement!

  • is that the number of the day oh my god

  • Marvelously catchy song :D

  • I dunno why but this song reminds me of my mom.

Also insert stock comment about how when I was a kid this motivated me, etc. etc. etc.

  • I still sing this song to count..just remembered to check it on youtube when I had to shut down my computer & I sang the song twice before restarting it

  • I was born in 1980, a loyal Muppet Show/Sesame Street lad through and through, so it's before my time but this looks and sounds familiar.

  • To this day i cant count to 12 without hearing this song in my head, Sesame Street ruled my childhood

  • hehe same here

  • To an extent, neither can I. At least where the counting part is concerned.

  • I know dude. Sesame Street really helped me with my math, letters, numbers, etc. Sesame Street ruled my childhood, too.

  • From when Sesame Street was great.

    It stinks, now :(

  • Too cute for words.

  • I love this song!! Takes me back to my childhood when childrens programing was way better than the crap that they show today for kids. Heck I heard that Cookie Monster can't eat cookies anymore! What the heck is the world coming to! Thanks for posting this!

  • <3

    i love this,

what advert was it used in recently UK people?

    x

  • @MrsChristyJudd:

    Heinz Salad Cream

  • ladybug picnic=)

  • Best minutes of my life. (When I hear this song)

  • My uncle sings this and plays it on his guitar every Thanksgiving. His version it better. BUT! Still love this it's great. I will never forget this song.

  • i wonder who sang it. kinda sounds like ringo starr.

  • This was written, sung and created by Bud Lucky. He's been working at Pixar for a while now (almost 2 decades I think) and recently directed the Pixar short "Boundin", the one about the sheered sheep and the Jackelope =)

I'd say he's pretty much a minor diety within the realm of animation. Not even counting all the diehard 30-something fans he has just from this cartoon.

  • OOOOOOOOOh yeah, he's great. He's better than Dr. Seuss, even.

  • Bud Lucky directed "Boundin"? That would explain why it was so cute and catchy-almost too cute.

  • this gives me will to live!!!!

  • omg this makes me miss my grama, I spent summers at her house watching Sesame Street. The other song that comes to mind is the bubbles song where all the kids are blowing bubbles.

  • We have a nice vibe rollin here, lets keep it up ppl :D

  • I was counting with my class and broke out into this song. The kids all gave me a weird look and I had to explain what I was singing. LOL

  • I am 32 and still catch myself hummin or singing this at work and stuff LOL! starrrrrs

  • your not alone:)

  • High price of furnature and rugs...classic

  • I was teaching numbers in class one day and started singing this and then I got lost in some memories. It was fun for me, but strange for the kids.

Lady bugs came to the lady bug's picnic.

  • I'm so glad this is on YouTube! We are having a lady bug infestation in our house and I started counting how many were on my ceiling one day and this song immediately came into my head. LOL. Ahhh...the memories.

  • I tell ya they just dont write cute songs like that anymore. What creative minds. I remember that jingle well 30 years later!

  • I watched this when I was little, what a fun memory.

  • good times

  • it's a dog driving the fire engine

  • My dad added to and adapted the song and sang it to me all the time when I was little, and now it's the first song I can play on guitar. It's so cute!

  • How great would it've been to work on Sesame Street? This clip gives me the warm and fuzzies! I'm all little and innocent again.

  • Awesome! DUH - it took me 30 some years, but I finally get it - "fire insurance for ladybugs" -- (a play on the nursery rhyme Ladybug, Ladybug, fly away home, your house is in fire, your children all gone..") This is a great memory. I still find myself counting this way sometimes when I count by threes - when I get to 12, the words "Ladybugs came to the ladybug picnic" are always there! Weird how this stuff sticks in your head!

  • this makes me happy! thanks so much for the post :D

  • great vid...but what the hell is driving the fire engine! its some kinda...thing!

  • Wow, what a great video to bring back memories! This was always a fun to watch!

  • Fact: 12 can also mean a dozen of something.

  • Even now as an adult I still crack up laughing when they sing about telling knock knock jokes and the ladybugs knock their heads together. I always laughed at that everytime I saw it as a kid too. This is such a great childhood memory. Thanks for posting it.

  • Ditto.

  • :P no... i saw it in the early 80s.. they used the same shorts a lot, they we so good!

  • thanks for the synched version of this! i've been looiing for a decent copy of this for ages. its a bit blurry, but its worth it. Damn, I'm showing my ages, having danced abot to this when I was tiny!

  • And that was 37 years ago right?

  • 12 in a dozen
