If you indoctrinate people to think that a police state exists for their safety, then they'll gladly swallow the lie hook, line, and sinker like a dumned down herd of sheeple. 9/11 was a blessing for those in power because it gave them a priceless opportunity to steal a big chunk of our liberties while everyone was terrified and looking to the gov't for protection. I don't think people understand that some of the biggest terrorists in the world are right here at home.
I walk around NYC all the time for many years. This is bullshit! No problems at all. The only time i see cops hassle someone is when your a homless guy in Penn Station, spitting on train customers. Without the police you'd be screwed. This video is all ignorance and good editing without the whole picture. All those cops are there to protect you. City traffic is intense and roads are blocked off. When people congregate in large, pick pocketers have a field day. Big city... a lot of cops. Those bag checks are legal for everyones safety...you have nothing to hide then it shouldnt be a problem.
@fallenhero637 If you have nothing to hide why not put 5 cameras in your bathroom and shower just2 make sure u don't slip and fall and hit your head?
If you have nothing to hide, can we put several cameras in your childrens bedrooms? Oh you have a 5 yr old daugher? Well we REALLY want to make sure that nothing happens to her, so we're gonna put 10 High Def cameras in her bedroom to make sure she doesn't accidentally choke herself while learning to dress herself.
there will aways be that 5 per cent of control freaks out their who get off on dominating others they will keep going till we free loving people are nothing slave toys for them to play with
Police are a special interest. The natural tendency of police forces is to avoid accountability, and help themselves to as much public money through taxation and fines as circumstances will allow.
They're just people with guns. It's really no more (or less) sinister than that. Like any special interest, they need to be kept in check.
so if your a tourist visiting newyork and you go visit times square and start filming all the pretty lights, the police can automatically say your a terrorist and arrest you?
the searches are because are for bombs more the 90% of the arrest with out reson the people were not charged for enything

First off you commie dip-shit, it's spelled 'terrified', and 'america' (no K's). Don't flatter yourself that this country has become paranoid because of the likes of you left-wing loons. If anything you weaken this great land.
As for these idiots known as 'critical mass' exactly what are they accomplishing other than disturbing traffic and bating people/police to come down on them for intentionaly disrupting other peoples' lives.
There is nowhere to make a complaint against them. There is a criminal conspiracy to not let you. The DA won't take a complaint, and refers you to the CCRB.
I was beaten robbed and kidnapped last year by NYPD and they want me to make a CCRB complaint, which has the police commisioner at the end of it.
So I'm alleging felony misconduct and I have to let the commish decide maybe on a punishment?
As a Dutchman I am usually sympathetic with other cyclist's cause. I mean, we live in a country the size of New York State and have over 20 million bicycles divided over 16 million inhabitants who, combined, cycle over 13 billion kilometers (8077825500 miles) a year!
However, Critical Mass participants seem to think they're above the law. Blocking junctions does not get your cause sympathy, it only gets people irritated. It disregards other people trying to make they're way to wherever.
Yaeh but they do that so the group can stay together like a funeral, which by the way is now illegal. The cops are out of control as are many bike riders, but not on the once monthly ride.
The cop who hit the guy in Times Square is a typical example of what a bunch of criminals the NYPD has become.
They guy wasn't arrested for bringing a perjured complaint but the bike rider was.
And the union defended that as if it was normal police work.
I'm normally against calling out others but come on guys. I saw the video of the police man bodychecking the biker and that was wrong. But seriously, if I came to your office when you are having a meeting with your boss and shoved a camera (literally) in your face, repeatedly, you would probably kick my butt because I deserved it. The camera guy at 6:45 is a duchebag and should have had his camera confiscated for being a dumbass.
As a civilian I am ashamed of your behaviour. I'm hoping most people at this event were not like that camera guy because the event has my total support. I think next year there should be an event called "we change change" where everyone has a camera and goes around shoving them in the face of all the cameraguys trying to make others angry so they know how it feels, I mean they will only be executing their rights, right?
Way to tape audio without consent... not to mention use the likeness of an individual when u could have blurred them. Guess you should look up some privacy laws
I so far, compared to other countries they have been doing of a pretty good job representing the law. This is nothing compared to what other cops do in other countries.
You're comparing your police force to that of other countries. Last I checked, the way civilians are handled is a reason to go to war with other countries. (Afghanistan for example)
Other countries aren't the United Stated of America, they don't have a constitution, and constitutional rights, whereas America is supposed to. Your argument is flawed.
So how in anyway is what the police in the video above violate the constitution of the United States? No my argument is not flawed because you blindly assuming that what the police are doing is compromising some unnamed aspect of the constitution that you believe exists. You are being way to naive. Try taking a look outside our borders. Police in those other countries might not be violating their constitution but they are violating international human rights.
This is a violation for starters, and telling them to turn the camera off repeatedly, making unwarranted arrests, and performing illegal searches are some of the things going on. All of these are more serious than touching, and they're still being done, and supported by you "patriots". Except really, the people asking questions are the real patriots, you guys are doing more damage to your country by blindly accepting it all.
Making unwarranted arrests and illegal searches? Where? Were you even watching the video? I saw none of that on the tape. Also, considering unwarranted arrests, the police don't need a warrent when the have enough evidence against you on the field. Have you ever heard of the term "Your innocent until proven guilty?" The purpose of being arrested is not to punish but to hold in case you are guilty.
Also, there have been interpretations by members of the judicial system which gives the right for the police to search your bag if they are suspicious.
Need to go read the 4th Amendment buddy; No warrentless searches. Plain and simple and anything other is a violation of the constitution. You know, kind of like the FISA bill. Illegal under the constitution. I guess some people just don't care though and think we can just change 4th cause post 9/11. By that reasoning, we can just get rid off the whole constitution, right?
No, it protects against UNREASONABLE search and seizures, which is not the same warrantless. Not all actions by which governmental authorities obtain information from or about a person constitute a search. Therefore, government action triggers the amendment's protections only when the information or evidence at issue was obtained through a "search" within the meaning of the amendment.
Anything else is illegal? In Terry v. Ohio 392 U.S. 1 (1968), the Supreme Court decided that when a policeman "observes unusual conduct" that leads him to reasonably believe "that criminal activity may be afoot" and that the suspicious person has a weapon and is presently dangerous to the policeman or others, he may conduct a "pat-down search" (or "frisk"), to determine whether the person is in fact carrying a weapon.
Under common law, a police officer could arrest an individual if that individual committed a misdemeanor in the officer's presence, or if the officer had probable cause to believe that the individual was committing a felony. I'd suggest you look up the Plain View doctrine, the Open Field Doctrine, Exigent circumstances, Motor vehicle exception, Searches incident to a lawful arrest, and Border search exception.
Look at the Nazi party and the things they did before they were the Nazi party. Do your own research. I agree with the cops... You can't do crap to protect the people in the United States as a cop because people are protected by so many useless rights. Example being that you have to have a warant to search someones house. WHY THE HELL SHOULD YOU HAVE A WARANT... YOU WOULN'T BE GOING IN THERE IF YOU DIDN't THINK SOMETHING WAS WRONG.
but its true though, look these up on youtube: new world order, amero, north american union, zeigiest(mispelled maybe), cfr, i can go on and on, but this is ALL real. in 2008 dont be surprised if we have another terrorsit attack, or dont be surprised if we go to war with iran, its all part of the new world order.
