Allen....your allways the best ! and my favorite...And Jimmy J ....I went to west with you,and all the cats are really proud of you mano! MPLS OWN with the master....WOWWWWW
I'm here to talk about the existence of a brand new musical experience called Idaea. The influence ranges from Planet X, Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Chick Corea to Contemporany and Experimental music. It would be really cool if you visited our myspace and added coments, thoughts and opinions!:
I gotta admit though, when I first started listening to jazz fusion, or just jazz in general; I thought it sounded like crap lol. But after you listen to it a bunch, and really study the theory behind it, it all makes sense somehow. Of course now I love jazz. So for those blues guitarists( which I love blues, and play it a lot) don't hate on jazz just because you don't "understand" it.
The only thing more amazing than his epic "ear" for music, is his sense of keeping time. Where mere mortals would get stuck in 5th gear going 500 mph, he goes 500 mph, but stays with the beat, and lands solidly on a beat. I think that is so amazing :D
if theres any dislikes on AH vids its him himself because he hates anything he plays. hes one of those people who always finds something wrong in his own music. but we as the other musicians know he is a genius!!!!
It's hard to describe what I'm feeling when I hear Allan Holdsworth's 1984 live in Japan version of "White Line". His solo conveys a sense of loss, recovery, confusion then madness, then he brings it home with enormous melodic power at the end. This guy is incredible
I agree but I can't put my finger on it. One thing is for certain though, digital media will never have nostalgia because it doesn't bear the limitations of the epoch *insert artificial grain*. At the same time, some of A.H's albums could have benefited from improved engineered.
in my opinion.. there isn't a better example of purely genius musicianship in the universe. i LIVE by these words and this line-up of musicians. as a result of chance, this version of 'letters of marque' caught some brilliant moments. long live improv!!!

Great recording. I dare say, better than Live at Yoshi's. While thelatter is a state of the art recording, something is lost in the digital purity.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean.
I feel the same way about older movies filmed with 8 or 16mm camcorders. The new HD ones lack something. Could say the same about Vinyl as well :P.
