  • Thank you very much I really appreciate it

  • Aww thanks what I'm gonna do is have a room under the stairs and on top then there's no waist of space!

  • can you do this in the corner of a house?

  • I am having a really difficult time following. You do everything too fast and have no instructions in text or annotations. :-(

  • If only they made the game with the ability to make these kinds of things easily, or at LEAST put in some 90 degree angle stairs as place-able objects.

  • you are.... a genius!!

  • You. Are. The. Best!!!! You have taught me houw to level out walls! Thank you!!!!

  • did anyone try this in live mode? cause when i tried it, my sims cant go up the second stairs...the bottom is fine though

  • I'm using your tutorial, but I can't seem to get my stairs on the slope to turn the normal color. Half of the stairway is black. I saw you use the hand tool under the stairs to fix yours but I don't know how you did it. I re watch this video like 10 times to figure it out. Please help. That's all I need, everything else worked great.

  • The even level tool for console isn't on build mode, it's on terrain

  • use CONSTRAINFLOORELEVATION FALSE as a cheat otherwise it wont work

  • now to find a way to build around the stairs on the 2nd floor! I hate how the'rs a huge space that you can't build over or else it messes up your stairs.

  • i tried this and the stairs "floor" dissapears when i go to the 1st level....help?

  • Is their a thing on Sims 3 where you can just build a house? Without the whole town, just a plot of land. Should I create a new game, edit the town, and bulldoze...everything

  • Yay, something more easy to understand. My previous attempts at this have failed horribly, haha. :) I haven't tried it yet, but I am curious-- can you do this style of stairs on a house that has a foundation? I want the L-stairs and a patio...

  • @taklayyankovic yes look at my hyper build 2 video you have to make a false foundation to do it. i might post another video to show it soon.

  • how do you make the stairs visible?

  • can u show me how 2 do an U shaped stairs? with d walls and all?? this video is pretty cool.. and helped me a lot,,, but i need an U shaped stairs, would u help me? thanxz

  • thanks a lot!

  • Thanks so much this video helped me make these stairs and they were amazing..

  • This video helped a lot! thanks for making it.

im having trouble with the bottom stairs though. i did the top just fine with no floating but the bottom stairs everything ive tried they are always floating with no walls on either side.

    how can i fix that?

  • @laxy022 When you place the bottom stairs are they indoor stairs or outdoor style? the outdoor style doesnt have walls attached. If you still have the problem you can use fence to block the sides. But i think your issue is the type of stair you are using.

  • How do you make L or U-shaped stairs in the middle of the house? not just by the walls..

  • the video shows how to make L shaped stairs in the middle. Not sure what you are asking.

  • Thanks! :)

    It worked !

  • I've got a problem..

I can't get to the 2nd floor with the straight level tool thingy.. ?

    How to solve?

    x

  • ok so you cant level the floors

best way is to go to ground level then click up one floor. then drag from one of the grid squares there. Some times the game freaks when using that tool so switch off the level tool then back while you are on the level you want to flatten. if you look at the video i reclick the level tool once i get to the second level to reset the tool.

  • man i wish sims 3 had the other foundation that sims 2 had cuz you could build next to a wall without it being slanted. i remember that you place one then to place another one on top you just press ctrl and you could do split level stairs without all the comotion of the contrain cheat and warped walls. I have yet to understand building in sims 3.

  • this would be good if ur trying 2 make a business building

  • This works great :3

I'm trying to figure out, though, how could you put those L-stairs up against a wall? The walls next to the stairs are slanted but I want those walls to be straight up and down with the rest of the walls in the house. Is this possible?

  • no the slant happens because the game matches wall height to levels and the stairs are a split level so it makes the wall slant. I have found vertical wallpaper like pinstripe works best for wall flair on the stair landings.

  • Hey, thanx for the video. I tried to do this too, but i have only one problem: the stair that goes to the second floor is half darkness. Do u know what i have to do ? Thanx

  • half darkness? not sure if this is what you mean. but the lighting system for SIM3 works floor to floor. it might be reading the lighting as second floor so if there is no windows or lights close enough to it it would be dark. try this go to the level where the landing is a place a ceiling light you will have to type moveobjects on in the code to place the light. See if the stairs have light on them then. hope that helps.

  • Hi - I have the same problem. I've put the top half of the stairs in, but the bottom part is completely black - like in your video at 1:50, but instead of the whole section being black, just the bottom half is. I've tried windows and lighting, but this doesn't affect it at all. Any ideas what it could be?

    Thanks

  • Try doing the delete then undo trick. Just delete the stairs then undo it. I am not why it does it. I have always been able to move the mouse over it for it to change back. Hope that works i cant get it to do what you are saying.

  • If you also turn on "moveobjects" you can also have a perfectly sqaure landing, as you can intersect the bottom/top of the stairs.

  • Anyway to get rid of those two floating triangle things ... ?

  • delete the wall then hit undo

it will put the wall back and the floating parts will be gone.

  • thanks alot this really helps!

  • Hey mann awesome video, just one probably silly question; instead of the stairs going in an L shape, could i make them go in a U shape? I dont have the game right now so i cant try it out for myself.

  • i want to do this in my house, but tell me, i already got fondation, i can do it?

  • oh i forgot, my house has fondation and the 2nd floor is already built, so can i do it? ^^'

    thx

  • yeah it will work the same for foundation just when you dig the hole for the wall to level you have to build a foundation piece in it then fallow the tutorial that will set your walls to the right height. The thing to remeber is that you are tricking the game into making one wall 2 diffrent heights.

  • thank you! i'm gonna try it :D

  • Yeah but how do you make those when they're already against another wall??

  • you do the same step but the side that is against the wall you don't need the extra floor tiles. it will make the outside wall slanted tho.

  • One thing I hate about the sims, they won't let you chose what height your deck should be. It would make building these L stair cases a lot easier :)

  • thank you :)

  • YOU RULE, that other vid made my stairs look freaky this is awesome.

  • i like your way much better than sims3HQ lol cause then at least my wall wont look funny im gonna try this one again
