BS ... I live in Shenzhen and this video is a gross misrepresentation (to say the least). Do sweatshops exist ... yes. Do factory workers make a minimum living ... yes (and free room and board). Do they shop on the weekends ... yes. Do they send money home... yes. Are they college educated ... yes - many or most. Most workers are happy. America gets free products from China everyday -- The FED/ US Plutocracy print up credit and exchange for real products. Inflation is an issue.
Want to boycott something? Slam your Politicians for destroying America, stealing your wealth and your freedoms. Let China worry about China and you start worrying about the "shaft being rammed up your ass by your political representatives" here in the USA.
hey dumbass there is nothign wrong with this these people need these jobs, if we boycott sweatshops these peopel will lose theyre jobs and starve to death believe it or not this is good for them so go eat a dick
when my family first moved to USA, every1 in family worked 10-12 hrs per day to keep family business going. Father went to store at 8 am, didn't leave til 11-12 pm on Fri and Sat thats about a 15 hr day. In US plenty factory people die prematurely due to stress at work, stress with providing for family and for paying taxes to govts.
Actually the great leap forward got them in a good position, not in a failure position. The person who made this documentary is definitely looking at his/her side. You've gotta look at two sides. Chinese people appreciate the step forward. Ever heard this phrase little girl?
"The sleeping dragon has token its place in the world."
Don't be a little girl and look at the shallow or little side. PAINT THE BIG PICTURE.
@usaid56 I meant to say little side of the teddy bear or the broken one. Thanks for understanding. By the way, this is how factories operate. Its worst in other countries that actually care about how their workers are.
Lots of good facts. You presented the problems in great detail but gave absolutely no solutions. How is China supposed to make reforms that will allow their economy to grow, yet give their workers more freedom/pay/opportunity/etc ?
What is going on is horrible, but instead of pointing fingers at large corporations, think of ways to solve the problems. You can't say "get rid of the outsourcing" because then you ruin two economies (i.e.China and the Outsider).
@KitsuneChloe" "How is China supposed to make reforms that will allow their economy to grow, yet give their workers more freedom/pay/opportunity/etc ?" -- ---- Perhaps the West can give some charity to China? Oh nvm, Western nations are bankrupt, they have to borrow money from "Third World Nations" such as China. Oh China is such a threat, but who has biggest stockpile of Nukes, who has military bases all over world, who bombs & occupies nations for oil?? Who caused financial crisis?
I'm not sure you understood my comment. When I watched that video I asked that question. at 5:02 the creator of the video starts posting what should happen but doesn't give solutions. All I was saying is that there wasn't a solution presented in this video. I wasn't saying anything about the Western economy and I am not sure what point you are trying to make. Can you clarify?
Wal-Mart is the worst sweatshop abuser ever, and K-Mart is the second worst. Wal-Mart is a corporate monster. Having to work in a Chinese sweatshop is a sad way to live. Many sweatshop workers have been injured, raped, or even murdered by guards for various reasons, such as backtalking management, moving too fast, and staying in the restroom too long. That is a big shame and a very sad fact.
Thanks for the info. I am going to be more conscious of where I spend my money in North America from now on. But if we "boycott" made in china products, won't we just be depriving them from an income?I don't know the answer.
@theangrydaughter2 exactly ... social activism against sweatshops only makes the capitalist and fascist more extreme in keeping a lid on things .. and doesn't even stop some from literally murdering or burying the workers alive by blowing up factories.
blackeyedpeas soundtrack is a nice touch.

Totally against child labor. But however, these children are perhaps the only source of income the family has. Think about that too.
Your video has so many flaws.

@usaid56 Just because the only source of income is from slavery doesn't mean it needs to be overlooked. Ignorant "Ohwells"
