Jesse was guest DJ on E Street Radio (Sirius/XM) this morning. He was very clear about how he took his time becoming a Springsteen fan. Basically, he read the lyrics, and got it (sort of like the rest of us). He asked Bruce to join him on a song, and (to me) Bruce joined him on Jesse's best song. A song written for/about his mother.
@RudyCasordapek Jesse first got into Springsteen in the mid 80's which I thought was weird cuz he had been in the great NYHC band Heart Attack who unfortunately broke up in 1984. The main thing he liked about Bruce was his lyrics and his heartfelt approach to his music. So I think it's great he finally got to meet Bruce and to record with him. Like you said Rudy, Jesse took his time....from the 80's to the millenium. I was happy for him to get to record and make a video of this song with Bruce.

Jesse Malin is solid. I'm a big Ryan Adams fan and someone recommended Malin to me and I haven't been disappointed at all. Glitter in the Gutter and The Heat are both good albums. I think it says something about his talent and songwriting ability when Bruce Springsteen teams up with him. Definitely worth checking out.

Jesse Malin is one of the most underrated singers out there now. He is absolutely amazing. It should say something that someone as iconic as Bruce Springsteen is not only recording a song with him, but making a video. How awesome is that?

I love them both, what a combination. the only person missing is JAKE WALDEN. He is my favorite artist of the year and someone will be hard pressed to take his place. He is said to be "the love child between David Gray and Bruce Springsteen", hilarious and oddly true. You should check him out on here or myspace!

it's so incredible the vehemenence of the love and yes I'll say it disgust of those who've commented on this video - is it the video or the song people are commenting on? I agree with "sugarybiscuits" I think it CAN sound forced but live it really is beautiful and always a crowd pleaser even without Mr Springsteen.....I've heard 2 different people do the "bruce bits" on the track and it doesn't deter from it at all - Jesse for all the good and bad has written something pretty decent really!

I've been a Jesse fan since those days with D Generation; and Bruce has been my favorite artist since I first heard him in '78. I traveled to Carnegie Hall to see Jesse perform at the Bruce fund-raising tribute (without a ticket!). I LOVE THIS SONG AND VIDEO! Bruce does enhance it, of course; but the song and Jesse Malin's performance stands on it's own merits. BTW, the behavior of some Bruce "fans" really saddens me; and I can only imagine what Bruce would have to say about it.

this song is a great song in general, not just because Springsteen sang on the track, I found this song because I'm a huge Springsteen fan, I probably would have never heard of it if I wasn't. With that being said, after I've gotten past the fact that Springsteen played on it I listened to the song for what it is; And it is just a great song in general. I've bought the album and love it, I am now a Jesse Malin fan.

Mailin, Hmmmmm, ya know he's one of those people who has a naturally nice voice, but striving too be different and striving to get his own sound, really messes up his natural talent with some obscure wailing, and or mumble, example, trying to sing with a mouth full of food.

As a lifelong Springsteen fanatic, I really have to take listen to someone he decides to sing with (Melissa Etheridge doesn't count). Malin also covered a Springsteen song on a tribute cd to Bruce. I really want to hear that, now that I've heard this. Great song/video.

Jesse Malin is solid. I'm a big Ryan Adams fan and someone recommended Malin to me and I haven't been disappointed at all. Glitter in the Gutter and The Heat are both good albums. I think it says something about his talent and songwriting ability when Bruce Springsteen teams up with him. Definitely worth checking out.
