This was one of my theme songs forever. Minus the Bear is incredible and this is one of my favorites to this day. So excited to see them play the whole Pirates album in November! Definitely a notable highlight in life.

Red wine with every meal, and absinthe after dinner, really is just flat out saying what the song is about. Jake is a hopeless romantic, which has it's moments of adorability, but to me he seems like a dude that would get along really, really well with extremely drunk Australians at the megahostel down the road.

That being said, I bet he has some good travel stories, and I wouldn't mind trading a few with a beer or two on some random beach in north africa.

I find it amusing that people on message boards and in commentaries like these can trash Minus The Bear whereas critics like Alternative Press (who would know their music far better than 99% of people commenting on YouTube ever would) consistently give the band rave reviews and endless praise for their music and ingenius songwriting. I know critics don't know everything, but I'd like to think they'd call MTB's bluff if they were "generic" or "average." Minus the Bear are absolutely amazing.

listen to bands like this and Mewithoutyou and you will understand that out of tune singing can be the most beautiful thing... "in tune" can often be stale and clinical and quite frankly, boring. Paris Hilton's vocals are in tune, but that doesn't make her good.

Open your eyes and ears and listen to the passion in the vocals, they would have used autotune if being in tune was that important.

The out of tune you must be talking about is because they are singing it in a different interval like maybe they play a C chord and instead of their vocals reaching the C note they might go and sing at a different interval maybe a minor 3rd or a major 3rd perfect 5th and whatnot.

That's what gives it the grungy effect is because Nirvana doesn't sing in the right tune which makes it sound good too.

ok, eclecticstaion was a harsh, but I do agree with him. When I first hear minus the bear I thought they were amazing beacause they were different and did some things I never thought of for the melody. But the vocalist started to bring the band down because he's a bad singer. The rest of the band is good, the singer sucks. I think minus the bear is more of a "chill music" type of band, rather than a live band. I saw them one time and they were exactly like the CD. Truthfully, I was dissapointed

Ive been to SxSx a (week or longer)festival. SxSx transforms the entire city of Atowns down town areas into venues for bands. Minus the bear actually played in it a while back. Not to mention Austin city limits 3day fest, that has had bands such as muse particle Tealleaf green, Tom Petty+other greats
