  • Is this still going on? Fuck's sake, grow the fuck up.

  • I now feel justified to download this illegally, and that is exactly what I will do.

  • eat a dick wmg

  • Just delete this..

  • fuck...the mejdzers!!!!!!!!

  • Hopefully the audio will return before year's end. Silly WMG, they really shot their own feet.

  • WMG can piss off. i own this! bought it.

  • Yeah I hate this. WMG don't seem to realise that being able to listen to music online is no different from radio. If people hear the songs more, they want to buy them. Whereas if you withhold them, they resent your entire company and download the music illegally.

  • FUCK YOU TUBE

  • w@nkers

  • THIS IS REDICULUS !!!!! let the people

    hear music !!!!!

  • Personally, I didn't buy any wmg record since this censorship came on.

  • Hey WMG, Try releasing a DVD here in the US if this bothers you guys so much. Oh well, not that Warners really bothered promoting St Etienne anyway.

  • Is bloody WMG everywhere trying to spoil the fun for everyone?. I have already bought the video and CD of this, and many other, St Etienne songs; what more do they want?

  • Do these fucking record companies really think that forcing youtube dissablig audio of our fav videos will be health their crappy sells?? i don't think so...

  • oh well, guess wmg won't be getting any of my money....

  • FUCK WMG

  • stupid cunts we should all boycott anything to do with wmg

  • What's the point of a music video without music

  • Deb(the woman with the dark hair, formerly of Birdie and the Dolly Mixture) is a hottie!

  • Yeah, most people would be looking at Sarah Cracknell but Deb is worth looking at to be different. Can't believe I typed those lines but it's a good song anyway.

  • more powerful than led zepplin

  • beautiful!

  • who's the dude dressed as a king?

  • That's how Brit girls should dance

  • Love this song.

  • Soberbia!!! La canción de los 2 estribillos

  • aphex twin did a mix of this what a guy

  • cracknell is a cracker!

  • Ridiculously attractive woman...I totally agree mate.

  • I love how the song starts out sounding like later New Order and then smoothly switches to a 70s soul sound on the chorus.

  • It's funny but I thought the Bo Donaldson / Candlewick Green versions were completely naff. But this version was actually rather good and showed that it was a pretty decent R&B song. Nice Philadelphia strings.

  • marvellous Saint Etienne, wonderful Sarah, beautiful Debsey..we love you, 4ever more!

    Kiko

  • What a song!,Love It!!!

  • Ahh,I love it. ♥

  • Have the cd of this, have not played it in a while... but always wondered who the brunette is doing the backing vocals? Anyone know? Danny Jimenez aka Numanoid17

  • She'is Debsey Wykes, and she was in a few bands before on the 80's, Dolly Mixture for example, some punk/alternative rock.

  • The backing singer is Debsy Wykes formerly of the Dolly Mixtures, and also a backing singer for Captain Sensible. There has just been a film made about the Dolly Mixtures called Take Three Girls look out for it.

  • I just love Saint Etienne,it's a pity they didn't beat Liverpool in '77

  • Never heard this version before. I always though the one by Bo Donaldson, from 1974 was the one and only, and then I just discovered it was

first done by Candlewick Green, the previous year. When did THIS one come out?

  • gran cancion pop

  • This not a great example of what St Etienne were about...they made some seriously top tunes with a lot more edge to them than this pop song.

  • Is this a cover version. I really like this song. Great production and melody.

  • cantforgetyou,

Yep it's a cover originally recorded by Candlewick Green :-)

  • podre...

  • I've just got it!

The other girl is Debsey Wykes, lead singer of Dolly Mixture.

  • Great band!

OK. One girl is Sarah Cracknell, but who's the other one? Do you know?

  • AIR 2000 Happy Days.

  • yes.

  • I did run way modeling in the early 90s & Saint Etienne at some point was blasting in the back ground. I still play their music while siting on my patio Down town Denver or at parties & still get someone asking me who is that.

  • They produced a fantastic, unique sound. Miss the 90s big time, mostly because I was in my twenties, thinner and fookin fit! Now I'm nearly forty, not so thin and fookin unfit! I WANT MY YOUTH BACK!

  • 36 meself - don't worry mate, I think we look better now. Distinguished. Plus I can afford a quite cool car. (not the petrol though.) And we can have a Twix whenever we like without having to ask. Get in!!

  • brilliant toon i can really sing to this maria

  • coolness :)

  • great song of the 70's

  • ah this brings me back!!!!!!!

  • ST etienne arn't they just great!!!

  • This song/band is class! Pure class! I love Sara Cracknell's 'laissez faire' dancing. Saint Etienne forever!! (or 'fore-ev-ahhh!!).

  • Saint Etienne is one of the best groups I can remember.A shame they charted most of the time in their home country!!

  • this is great - the original from the 70's by bo donaldson and the heywoods. and yeah, look, it's deb. huge crush. well at least in 1993. still a fan in 08.

  • omg!! haven't heard this in years and I still remember the words haha I think I taped this off the radio...

  • Oh my, this brings back many memories! God how I miss the 90's..! :)

  • again mix between 60s and 90s music love it.

  • Just thought I'd post a comment that wasn't in Spanish...so here it is..

  • Si la variedad son las formas indias, quedate con todas.

  • i really love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • que bonitas mujeres, acà son todas unos pescados. Nice song.

  • A que vives en el Bronx

  • jeje, no, vivo en Uruguay, y te dirè que no hay mucha diferencia. Saludos desde sud amèrica.

  • Jajajajaja! Flor de palo! Yo soy uruguaya y no soy fea, che!

  • Saw them live yesterday. Amazing, as always.

  • The more I listen to Saint Etienne's 90's stuff, the more I realise just how fucking great they were. There aren't many artists of the era who meet this standard. Fan-fuckin-tastic!

  • Though I never had an affinity to this band, just watching this takes me back to that era where Britain really had its independance creatively, aesthetically this looks very British and not outdated

  • touringmars it was not completely wrong! ok, this song was written by the british jigsaw(the makers of "sky high") but also in the same epoch it existed a australian band called jigsaw like would say touringmars!

  • perfect pop song! Everything's just fine.

And it was a great idea to ask Debsey Wylkes singing backing vocals.

Just a bit hard for Sarah when you compare...

  • Saint Etienne were working with Kylie Minogue on her debut album with DeConstruction when this came out. I remember they wrote some album tracks for her 1994 release. Great group!.

  • Call me a loony, but I used to think that Kylie & Dannii Minogue should've covered this as a duet. I'm sure it would've been a big hit. Funny in the light of your comment!

  • The song is a cover by Candlewick Green, but also Bo Donaldson (i.e. Down in the Boondocks). I think Candlewick had the UK hit, and Bo had the US hit in the early 70's.

  • This song was actually written by an Australian band called Jigsaw...

  • On further investigation, they're not Australian but British!

  • I have both Bo's and St Et's versions downloaded...St Et by a hairsbreadth!

Bo's more rock-ish but in a bubblegummy way. St Et's pure candyfloss...and tasty!!!!

  • Debsy (sp ?) is the brunette who was also in Birdie. One of the most ethereral bands ever. St. Etienne never got the recognition they deserved in the US = way too good for mainstream. Thanks St. Etienne for making the world more beautiful.

  • This band deserves more recognition than they get IMHO

  • great video

  • Didnt know this was a cover

  • Great cover! I love Sarah Cracknell's amateurish karaoke style. It's so sweet. (Original version by Candlewick Green in 1973).

  • this song is just beautiful

  • come to the usa!!!my fav groups!!!!!

  • St Etienne were wonderful at the Rise festival in Finsbury Park - and Debsey sang too!

  • Debsy - true genious! Fantastic backing vocals - Why the Dolly mixtures weren't huge I'll never know!

  • So beautiful, both PV and song!

  • I can't watch St. Et vids all day. I heart them

  • Sarah is unforgetable.

  • This is a brilliant song I had long forgotten about. Should have been a bigger hit than it was. I remember taping this from the Chart Show on ITV but mistakenly taped over it!

  • One of the most soothing songs I can think of. Sadly underappreciated pop IMO, especially when compared to the Holly Valances, Sugababes and S Club 7-Rachels of recent years.

  • thanks...

    the i see ever...!

  • Nice - always thought this one didn't receive the recognition it deserved.

  • I have heard this song by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods from the mid 70s.

  • This was the British version of this video. I wonder if the American version of this video is available here. Love this song.

  • They should have had Sarah cracknell in a mini-skirt for this one...

  • Oh man this is a classic.

  • One of their best....so catchy!

  • i think Debsey is one of the greatest voices (& dancers!) in pop music!

  • Oh Baby, I think I'm in love...

  • sorry you are wrong it was written by clive scott and des dyer of a band called jigsaw off there album ive seen the file ive read the book in 1974. then candlewick green released it but it got to number 3 in the usa.

  • some bands dont get the credit they deserve... such a shame...

  • Great band. Never got the credit they deserved in my opinion. Perhaps their best tune.

  • Here's the band talking about the track, shamelessly pinched from Melody Maker:

    Bob:

A genius song by a horrible cabaret group who won Opportunity Knocks about ten times in a row.

    Sarah:

They sent us a bunch of flowers

  • perfect 90´s pop song. Hard to find this kind of music at this time

  • The girls in the vid look great(esp Sarah)look great but the guys look like dorks

  • Sorry, it's not a pickettywitch song the original was done by a band called Candlewick Green who appeared on the uk talent show opportunity knocks in the 70's.

  • isn't it a cover of an old picketty witch song from the seventies?? brilliant any way!!

  • i think it's actually a cover of a Candelwick Green song. the only differences i can find are they changed 'i'm just a guy..' to 'i'm just a girl..'

    favorite line:

    'if you want me there,

    you gota to care...'

    priceless.

  • great song.I think these guys are really underrated

  • I love Sarah's voice, and she looks fantastic in this

  • One of my fav pop songs from 90s. Sarah Cracknell and Debsey vocals is fab and tune timeless. Passed this on to my four year old daughter who loves dancing to it.

  • Saw them live in Chicago last winter. AMAZING. They need to release a live album.

  • who is the guy in the crown? bob or pete? man he looks dumb in that outfit. i guess it goes with the song

  • magnifique!!!!!

  • i love The Ets and this is one of my favourites of theirs. "You're In A Bad Way" and "Join Our Club" are great tracks - i wonder if the vids are here?

  • Debsey is a groovy dancer!!!!!

  • one of my all time favorites...
