  • This is what broke the ground for Dance Dance Revolution, so it deserves respect. The Power Glove didn't exactly take off, but it broke ground on the technology that the Wii is based on. Nintendo was ahead of its time for many video game types, even though the masses weren't ready for it.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, the Kinect's Grandpa.

  • Shrug, great idea, not such a great product, I had heard of it but no one I really knew had one, and anyone who did wasn't interested in it.

Perhaps best remembered as a precursor to Dance Dance Revolution.

  • I had this but I remember HATING it. Not because of the fact that I was getting exercise but because World Class Track Meet never worked properly. I would jump and the character would smash into the hurdle. Then he would get up and jump.

  • It was popular, but only at the beginning of the nes mania. Then it was forgotten. I guess back then we didn't like the idea of mixing our exercising with our couchpotatoing for too long. I only remember two decent games, which I still own: world class track meet and superteam games.

  • Power !!!

  • The Powerpad, keeping fat kids in North America skinny since 1988.

  • Too.... much ... power!!!!

  • when it broke u could use it as a tarp

  • It wasn't popular because nes kids were too fat to use it.

  • DRINK POWER THIRST!!!

  • I owned this in '88!

  • This pwns Kinect because you don't even need arms to play. If you don't have legs, but arms, you can still press the buttons too.

  • he said Power like 256 times...

  • @MARXCCCP he said power 9 times to be exact -_-

  • They need to make this game and accessory for the Wii that would be sweeet!

  • was one of the kids wearing a bra

  • @kingsworldbluecrashz Was that a question?

  • its the first version on the wii

  • he said power a lot... o3o

  • much better than kinect xDD

  • A friend of mine had this. We couldn't really play with it because his parents would yell at us for making too much noise, running in place on this thing.

  • i have this

  • x box kanects ripped got there idea from the nes , it jsut rpoves x box and the ps3 have no original ideas of there own nes owns them all

  • PLASTIC POWER!!!!!

  • Avgn: "Everything is just power. Whats so *power* about it? It`s just an piece of fucking plastic!"

  • @torerik1234

but nes is working from power 220 V...

  • Comment removed

  • @didogazeto Then it should be "Now your playing whit power! 220 V Power!"

  • @torerik1234 xD

  • I found like 100 nintendo games in my grandmoms basement they where my brothers mostly megaman

  • Why is the kid in the yellow shirt wearing a sports bra on the outside?

  • did anyone count how often he said POWER?! xD

  • Not so popular? 3 in 5 people (a pretty damn good ratio) had this thing. I didn't since my parents had a house that wasn't viable to have something to run and jump on and make a bunch of noise.

  • All I'm saying is those were the coolest kids ever. Especially the tall one with dark hair.

  • Reggie: "My body, My Body is Ready!"

  • Sony copy this to be the dance pad?

  • @thaichubby101 uhhhh the dance pad isnt made by sony RE-RE, its konami.

  • Wow I was born in 1987 i don't know how i missed this commercial..oh wait i was an infant. I didn't know this thing existed. oh man how time flies.

  • Thumbs up if you think this owns Kinect.

  • @UNSUNGBAND Thumbs up if you're a moron.

    Oh look 27 people.

  • I am the game? I made myself lose me D:

  • overpowered

  • I AM THE POWER!!!

  • Wheres the network port on this thing to download updates

  • It sounds like the narrator from pokemon

  • the internet was invented in 1969 so that computers could communicate with each other. In the 80's with the Macintosh, you could use the internet via ethernet

  • Comment removed

  • I had one of those but my parents would rarely allow me and my sisters to use it because we would practically shake the house down. And this was with all of weighing under 100 lbs!

  • I bet those two kids are grown up and jamming on a Dance Dance Revolution platform as I type this.

  • who wears yellow socks?

  • Bring it down all you want... I still find it more entertaining to hook up the old NES instead of playstations, xboxes or even Wii's... Might partially be nostalgia but hell... is there ever gonna be another Mario or Zelda? fuck no... I'd hate to be a kid nowadays... putting up with being "emo" AND owning an xbox lol... terrible job, good luck.

  • it's like Kinect except not as laggy

  • It is like the wii fit board lol!!!

  • Now your playing with power, BODY POWER!!!! RAAWWRRR REAL LIGHTNING!

  • Nintendo: trying their best to stop child obesity since 1988. Fair play!

  • too much power!

  • Holy Cow Dude, when does this come out?

  • POWER

  • NOW YOURE PLAYING WITH BODDY POWER! *shows hulk playing game: HULK DOESN'T LIKE GAMEEEEEE!!!*

  • Wii First Attempt

  • Pause at :14

    :O

  • You know, if you're going to put this much effort into it, why not just go outside and challenge your friend to an actual race?

  • wow so nintendo made the balance board based off a weight scale and this power pad smart move

  • better than kinect!

  • POWER GOD DAMMIT!!!!111

    D:<

  • Hey kiddies... Did you know that Atari 2600 had a wireless controller? Looong before Nintendo or any of todays consoles. The technology was always there. And Nintendo and a "similar" concept of the wemote, but it never caught on, cause it sucked monkey nuts.

  • Body Power! hahahaha. I had one of those. God, we must have looked like retards just like these kids.

  • and microsoft are trying to market kinect when this stuff is available?!

  • POWER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "the not so popular" are you out of your mind? We went apeshit over the Power Pad. After 2 years of borrowing and renting NES I finally got one of my own for xmas, and it was a Power Set.

Greatest fucking gift ever, you know I put it on lay a way in Sept and had it out 2 weeks before xmas too lol!

  • FAIL!

  • For some reason it looks so gay. XD

  • I'm proud to own one.

  • can you say precursor to the wii fit? i know you can :) lol

  • i like the part where he said power.

  • "The machines greater possibilities were first tapped in Japan when Nintendo announced the Family Computer Communications Network System. A similar network planned for the United States had the potential to dwarf the Prodigy network (a joint venture of IBM and Sears Roebuck), the most used network in the country, which only had 1.3 million subscriper by January 1992..." -David Sheff author of Game Over.

here's a link. You see, world didn't start in 1991. They had networks in the 70's.

  • DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION

  • POWER POWER POWER !!!

  • THIS VIDEO CONTAINS POWER

  • Hey its wii fit. bahahahaha

  • It's the Wii before the Wii.

  • Are the penis and vagina part of the body, cos me and my girlfriend play with them?

  • Comment removed

  • dude haha i just played world class track meet, dance aerobics, athletic world, & super team games... i'm SWEATING... this was a good idea hahah

  • It's impressive how awesome it looked back then and how much of a piece of shit it is now. *COF COF* wii fit *COF COF*

  • now you'r playing with body power

  • Lmao Powerglove is like the wiimote to me. Now THIS is like Wii Fit. Now that I think back, history feels like its repeating itself with nintendo. That just feels SOOO good with me xD

  • lol using your hands xD

  • I actually think this was a good idea at the time as kind of a way to trick kids into exercising who might not otherwise do it. I remember playing that track and field game with one of my friends. We had a lot of fun on it. I think this was a real first step in this category of exergaming. I bet Nintendo learned a lot from the Power Pad that helped them make a truly kick-ass product in the Wii Fit.

  • i got mine on 89 uuu long time ago

  • POWERPAD!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  • maaaan. I had NO weight on me at all... I tried so hard to play on the power pad..I lost every time...Now your playing with power, only if you weighed something.

Forget you NIntendo, I"m going back to Sonic.

  • Uhh, what? You can activate the pads by hitting them with your hands. If you couldn't get them to work with your feet, there was probably something wrong with the pad.

  • I remember it sucking more than the Power Glove, the latter being one I actually owned!

    ....

  • No it couldn't.

  • It was never used of course, but Nintendo visioned that people could use NES to shop at home. This was in a book Game Over, a history of videogames.

  • @nintenalex Yeah there was. Did you ever wonder what the expansion port was under the NES unit. It was for a dial up modem. google up Teleplay Modem NES.

The game I heard that used it was based on gambling. But the idea was scrapped. I think it was since alot of people under 18 had this system.

  • @nintenalex Yes, it's true.

  • @nintenalex The Snes could though

  • @nintenalex Nintendo had It´s own satelite. There´s an online version of Zelda for NES

  • @nintenalex lol

  • @nintenalex yes it could....technically. look up the satellaview for the famicom.

  • @sk2210ALT Super Famicom, sorry.

  • @nintenalex actually it was. In japan there was somekind of download capabilities from internet-like database. But i don´t know if it was nothing else but that. It was a surprise for me.

  • @nintenalex sorry about this but qvistus82 could be right.

  • Negative!!

  • @qvistus82 That would be the Sega Dreamcast

  • @qvistus82 like nintenalex said, no it couldnt

  • @qvistus82 TCP/IP didn't even exist in the 80's.

  • @qvistus82 what a retard. You are as Tommy Vercetti from GTA:Vice City says, "Dumb, Florida moron." :[

  • @qvistus82 ur thinking SNES

  • @qvistus82 ur dumb and fat and gay

  • @rozertma123 Yes I am and there's nothing better than a fatboy ass like yours.

  • @qvistus82 I thought that was the Dreamcast...

  • @qvistus82 Who told you that it can go online?

  • Comment removed

  • @qvistus82 sega saturn was technically the first console to have internet capabilities, if you got the add on

  • @qvistus82 yeah on the clothes line after I spilled juice in it

  • @qvistus82 lol you suck

  • @qvistus82 of course, i dont think they would even have thought of that

  • @qvistus82

    Are you on drugs?

  • Running? That's a game. I remember seeing this in stores as a kid, but it's selling point is RUNNING?

If I want to play a video game, it's because I don't feel like going outside at the moment.

And if I feel like running, why the hell would I wear my socks and bounce around indoors in front of the TV like a moron, when I could RUN outside?

  • ya no shit...how about going outside and running for real...see whos really faster and its free

  • I remember this piece of crap. My stupid cousins thought they were hot s$%* for a few weeks....until they broke it! Only then did I find it entertaining

  • YOU ARE...the nobody.

  • Man, those guys look retarded. Imagine kids these days. They'd be 5 times as heavy, and would probably break it when they stepped on. Okay, bad joke. But man, what were they THInkING?!

  • @TCJJ

Me and my sisters had one of those. They were made of really thin plastic and foam so they were kind of hard to break. Still no less of a flop though. If other kids' parents were anything like mine then the constant "thump, thump, thump" drove them to the point to where they said, "That's enough! Please play another game!"

  • powerpad rules....i still have mine

  • that was made for keeping kids at a normal weight

  • @FerCrafts sadly it never worked both the concept and the mat

  • The powerpad seems like the ancestor to the DDR mat.

  • AHH KILL IT WITH FIRE!

  • lol this is tougher than the balance board. in wii fit it says never jump on the board. and to do the jogging, you put the wiimote in you pocket

  • i had one, it was a power piece of shit !

  • ITS....OVERPOWERED

  • A sign of things to become of WII Fit Balance board?

  • The inspiration behind Project Natal.

  • Too... much... POWER!!!

  • This is the predecessor of the Wii Fit XD

  • I remember my friend use to bring this over and drive my parents nuts because we would play with it on the second floor and it would make hell of noise downstairs. lol

  • ...That actually looks fun.

  • Comment removed

  • O sweet. I have that game and the powerpad. I didn't know the two were compatible

  • I don't think the Angry Video Game Nerd has reviewed this yet. I wonder what he

thinks of it. He'd probably just yell Ass

    and drink Rolling Rock.

  • Then have the cat piss on it.

  • Yeah, he probably would:).

  • Actually he has. He talked about how much noise he make running on it, so he just leaned down and tapped it with his hands. XD

  • Yeah I know, it's just that I hadn't seen it before I made that comment. I used to

tap the power pad with my hands too.

  • i remember this! I was lucky enough that my uncle's job allowed to get(*cough* steal lol) free games. We had every game, the powerpad and the guns but not the the power glove which sucked anyway

  • send me free stuff

  • lol

  • Not so popular? If the Power Pad wasn't popular your Dance Dance Revolution would not exist.

  • Body power sounds sexual, or maybe body power power power sounds sexual.

  • damn that is old, damn I still have my power pad to

  • hahaha this probably was invented by the same guy who invented the wii board!!! only the wii board was successful because i dont remember ever hearing from "the POWER mat" power power power power!!!!!

  • lol never heard of it.

wii fit must have sold a billion more copies

  • why wont it work

  • wii

  • Last second of video cut out.

  • He says the word 'power' waaay too often ^^

  • @modron666 he says power 9 times 30 sec yay :)

  • Holy cow! I forgot about this. Nintendo already had the Wii in the making. This, the Zapper, the Power Glove>>>>>ok the Power Glove sucked, but jeez. Nintendo already had their Wii in the making. Starting a Nintendo Revolution. Get it?

  • LMAO, all the old power ideas (glove, pad etc) is basically redone with the wii

  • wii fit.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOT BODY POWER YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA how epic. XD

  • thks dude i remeber this ;)

  • lol

    "you are the power"

  • is this real?

  • Yea, I owned one. It's probably still in a box around here somewhere.

  • lollllll thats sick... hahh

  • to bad they didn't

    have DDR for the

    NES back then.

  • reminds me of mario and sonic at the olympic games 100m dash XD

  • As lame as this is now...at least it worked which is more than I can say for the powerglove.

  • If they upgraded the powerglove to Wii Standards, it'd be epic.

  • HAHAHA Wii Fit

  • I remember my sisters wanted this system so they got it for christmas. I'm sorry but the powerpad was lame. Everyone exploited the game by shuffling anyway. Then of course we all distracted each other by pullint pants down and pushing each other. The Thing was barely used much like every other nintendo accessory. Everyone had A power glove, zapper gun, a robot, whatever the turbo controller was called as well as the big joystick and rolled up behind it all was the Power pad.

  • I remember this man I had nasty Nintendo fever this I can say I am glad Nintendo fever came once now it's too much like damn computer..
