Both. WiFi requires an internet connection, like at your house or something. 3G uses the cellphone towers, so you could use it in the car, or where ever.

It looks fun, don't get me wrong. But it's really just a gimmick.

I still use my iphone a lot, but then again it is my mobile phone which warrants being used a lot. But the ipad seems a little clunky/big to take everywhere with you.

However it does seem to be a nice, albeit expensive alternative to a netbook/laptop. Still I'd take my Alienware m15x for ACTUAL games over an ipad any day of the week. All down to preference and how you will use it.

I think everyone's missing the point of this fantastic Ipad. It's ease of use and size is just perfect for those long bathroom breaks! Jking aside it looks like this could be a huge hit in even business environments where you would take notes or show off pie charts etc. Apple is a great product and I would love to at get one!

can you image trying to type an email on that thing, you either have to crawl under your desk so you can lay it flat without glare, or put your feet up on your chair so you can lean it against your knees and use both hands.

A laptop is just more logical for business.

With Skype working in the background with the much anticipated OS 4.1 on the ipad its a phone.

"Its not a iPod touch because it can have 3G", well, most of the iPads sold does not have 3G, and even if it did a 3G connection can be simulated on a iPod touch using a personal wifi device.

What Apple should have done to differentiate the iPad is given it massively more memory, a dual core processor and a 1080p screen.

i highly doubt that the ipad will cause trouble for other ebook reader devices because of the outrageous pricing of this device. The 64gb 3g version is going to be priced at something above $800 typical apple. Really what you'd be buying here is and oversized iphone minus the phone feature. Also the damn thing doesn't even have a camera apple probably did that so they could release another version a with one couple months later. Apple=Fail

That's the beauty of the the ipad that nobody realizes ... it works through itunes ... so it doesn't matter if you have a mac or not. This is a huge wedge into the pc market cause the windows sufferers will finally get to experience what good software is like ... wrapped up in beautifully designed hardware.

Right, I buy laptops so I can use them to take pictures and netbooks to make phonecalls. If you want a convergence device, get the iPhone. The iPad is attractive to me because it's a versatile media device with a large screen and great battery life. I can use this to show off portfolios and access media from the internet, play games without squinting, and lighten my backpack. Do Want!
