  • I was on this show when I was 5 or 6 it was in new Orleans this brought back some good memories

  • Love the commericial at the end with peyton manning in it.. and I used to love showbiz pizza..

  • thy gave the kids spicy chicken? lmao

  • Also, a girl whos last name is kitchen.

  • Merica

  • I though Popeyes love spinach, that blows my mind that they are selling fired chicken >_>

  • She looks kind of like the Trunchbull from Matilda. I feel like she's going to fling one of them out a window.

  • Oh yeah , I'm still Deputy Susie ... Still going to the schools and with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Office.

  • Part 3 : this is turning out to be an epic. I' m still Deputy Susie , still going to the schools and working with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Office. Very grateful to the show. It helped establish a rapport w the kids so I could concentrate on the material I needed to teach them when I saw them in school . Thanks to all u kids ...remembering us .

  • I wrote too long... Here's the part 2 History of Popeye & Pals. Jerry & Jim revamped the now hour long prog with all kinds of bells & whistles. Jerry (is a genius ...at everything he does ). He allowed me to take a camera crew on locations and to write , produce and direct my own spots . Matt hosted the show in the final years. The demise was due to Ted Turner buying all cartoons for his own network . I loved the show . The opportunity it gave me to have the kids already know and relate to me

  • I do not know who this lady/ host is... There was the GREAT INCREDIBLE HENRY DUPREE. He was the first and was comfortable on camera and created a very professional program for kids. ( more than just eating chicken). He had relevance & educational concepts sandwiched into the material. Then John Pela, Don Westbrook...took it over for some time. this lady wasn't there too long. She was an interim host until Capt Jim Clark and Jerry Segretni ( forgive me Jerry...trying to spell your last name) rev

  • Hey KiKi, Don't go breaking my heart.

  • Now Popeye's Chicken is In Southern Ontario. I was home in Toronto during the last week of August. I went to a Popeye's Chicken on Queen street east and Sherbourne ave. Man this chicken is better that KFC hands down!

  • Only Nawlins baby lol

  • is that Peyton Manning ...i think it is

  • how did she get Bob Barker's mic

  • Her FINE ass!!!

  • Showbiz Pizza, FTW!

  • Dang ... I used to watch this EVERY Saturday morning and would say my name like I was in the audience. You have to be from N.O. or near N.O. and have access to WWWL to understand just how awesome this show was.

  • Let's all be fat!

  • lady is scary !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember Icee as a kid, those things were awesome

  • This...lady....is terrifying.

  • 2:21 a school named amy listen up

  • What a bizarre show....

It's basically a 250 pound woman in a red shirt interviewing kids while they eat Fried Chicken for breakfast. And if they're lucky they can eat a Snoopy cake.

  • Was this actually a real show in New Orleans?? What the hell was the point of this show? To shill fried chicken, pizza, "donutz" cereal, icee and pepsi to unsuspecting children?

No wonder everyone in our nation is morbidly obese.

  • @JohnQ1127

Of course this was back in the days when kids actually got exercise by playing outside. Back before mommy and daddy bought the Nintendo Babysitter. And before they started saying that PE in schools was "too difficult".

  • i was 10 yrs living on the westbank watching this. sat morning on channel 4.. this was before cable. gosh i am getting old.

  • OMG! A tv show about chicken? Geesh.. That's just plan weird.

  • The arena that's advertised is still the home of last year's New Orleans Saints: The Louisiana Superdome!

  • My brother is the little boy in the front row (I'm next to him). It's cool that this particular episode was posted - we got to show it to his little boy.

  • "Donutz" cereal... even though I never ate the cereal, I LOVED the song!

  • I got on Popeye & Pals and they asked me my favorite cartoon - I said "Donald Duck"

  • Who is the lady hosting this local "Popeye & Pals"Kids tv show

    in New Orleans,La.?

  • At 5:33, notice the lack of skyscrapers on the New Orleans skyline. Those would be built one by one in the 1980s in advance of the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition (World's Fair).

  • 8:47 look at 5-year old Peyton Manning throw that ball!

  • "Show Biz Pizza"exsisted..when "Chuck E.Cheese's Pizza Time Theater"restaurant was around.Now.."Show Biz Pizza"is just a faded memory.

  • Who is the host of this version of "Popeye & Pals"?

  • Yeah, Capt. Jim and his "Double Pumpers" was cool too. I should know, I'm Tom Foote and I've got a couple of pieces posted here too. I was thrilled with the Super Bowl. Look for me on Facebook too. Until next time. -Tom Foote

  • Brings back alot of memories. Wish they could find the Popeye and Pals with Capt. Jim.

  • Brings back memories of childhood, but once in a while during the intermission, the jackasses at WWL-TV would put on an Emergency Broadcast System test- scared the shit right out of me!!!

  • Wow. I remember this show so vividly, and it's making me want Popeyes right now...mmm!

  • This is great! I haven't seen this in years!!

  • @jenniberger73 A flood of memories for me, too. Haven't seen this in over 30 years since moving to Western New York State.

Even WKBW's "Commander Tom" couldn't hold a candle to THIS!
