It's not often I agree with Glen Beck but he is right here. Obama needs to remember that it's our UK troops that fight and die alongside US forces. Maybe we should pull out and ask him to ask his French allies to send their troops in. And before Hilary Clinton goes on about the Falklands, she should look at how Texas was acquired.
Let's put this into US language. The Falklands is the UK's Iran, North Korea and before that Iraq, Vietnam etc. it's the thing that keeps our military spending going. And it's going appallingly!!! Imagine if the Falklands had never happened, we wouldn't have a standing Army, and the Navy and RAF wouldn't exist at all. Think I'm joking? We already scrapped our last aircraft carrier, despite the threat from the Argies.

We scrapped the carrier as it would not be worth the cost of the refit for the length of time we would be using them before the bigger Elizabeth class carrier is built. Then we will be one of only a couple of countries with super carriers. And although we reduced our order of 12 new type 45 destroyers to 6, the other 6 are only on the back burner until we are more economically stable. Even the 6 we will have are way ahead of any other destroyer in the world.

They will be no chance of a task force being sent to take them back. Also, playing down international relations with Britain is a good thing, but a smokescreen. The US and UK will always have a close relationship, but that has to be downplayed so that America can try and develop similar relationships with European countries which it has previously neglected. @zlocrov Argentina has no right whatsoever to the Falklands it's a bunch of islands that have never belonged to them, in fact only 10 Argentines have ever lived there. Just because something is near you doesn't make it yours.

As a UK observer I do get the distinct feeling Obama is putting distance between our countries.
sometimes out of ignorance, sometimes from global strategic priorities, sometimes just from sheer lack of integrity.
I like America and its culture.
But as a relativity new and young country, Americans would do well to remember they are standing on the shoulder of giants. That goes for Obama too.
