if i had an home cockpit identical to a real 737 or 747...on th eVATSIM network i would think that im doing it for real if i was on it for a while lol
is there some way that i can get a free add on to fsx atc so it sounds more realistic? the procedures are fine, its- just- the- voice- that- bugs- me-.
editviocepack V3 is still in development. you can speed up the ATC speech with it, and it adds some new callsigns, but It isn't possible to make your own callsigns yet :-(
How did you get such realistic voices? I tried installing Vox ATC, but abandoned it for Radar Contact because the voices were so obviously computer generated that it detracted from the realism of the experience?
Did you download it or purchase the DVD? The DVD contains AT&T licensed 32-bit voices. With the download you have to use the MS 16-bit voices. We've also downloaded 2 additional voices from Cepstral... for a total of 4 32-bit voices
I see! If the voices are of equivalent quality to the ones in this video, I'm well prepared to splash out for the DVD version. How would you say this compares to other ATC programs like Radar Contact?
I fly IFR and use Vox to practice. YOu just can't get the same workload using one of these other "push button to respond" ATC programs like Radar Contact. That's not the way it works in the real world.
Wow, that is awesome! I'm going to build the same some day... And I hope I can get it, was it hard to build? And did you ordered everything from avsim or somewhere else? Please reply.
very nice video. i particularly liked it because I used to live in Tuscaloosa, AL and I'm very familiar with both KMGM and KBHM. Good work and nice rig.
padraigw is awierdo, he really believes he can fly, one day he jumped out his window like a bird and hit the deck with 2G's, now hes even worse, and at present he is constructing a daft flying machine using feathers and balsa and glue, and in 6 months he hopes to launch off the gpo in dublin. cracked.
Very nice cockpit setup, I have most of the parts and software now too. I just need to a few small things before I can start building it. Im wondering what are you using the FMC ? (Not the Software as I know its PM software but the actual hardware, and also how did you mount your projector for the outside screen ? Do you have a blog site etc that I can visit to see your progress when you started building it ?
I used two small touchscreen "Lilliput" monitors that are used to view DVDs etc in SUVs, Vans, etc... but also have a VGA input... so I display the PM FMC software on them and it works fine "touching" the input on the screen... much cheaper than buying FMC hardware units. No projectors. I use two 32inch LCD displays with Matrox dual-head to go.
Well Done! Does Vox Atc let you have other AI traffic besides there own? i.e. My traffic 2005 etc..I heard you have to turn off all AI traffic because it does not recognize other traffic. Regards
Just let me know when I can find controllers online for a flight between any two points in the world I wish to fly... and more importantly, as an IFR real pilot, virtual controllers who know what they're talking about... and maybe I'll switch
Hi I'm training for my private pilot's certificate and possibly going beyond that. Is this a good program for short private plane VFR or IFR flights? Also, can you ever revert back to the standard FSX ATC if you don't feel like using it that day, broken mic, etc.? Just wanted to know. Thanks!
yes to all questions. YOu have to initialize Voxatc for flights and turn down the default traffic to zero and ATC volume to zero. Only takes a few seconds to reset and us MS ATC... so you can easily go back and forth on your flights
Doh! I forgot to ask: By running the EFIS displays through your cockpit setup, does that take the load off of your processor/video card since FSX isn't rendering the instrument panel?
The ATC is from our new FS-X ATC add-on called VoxATC. The ATC is fully voice recognition... which means you speak the responses and it understands and replies to you.
FINALLY! Someone who based a sim pit mostly on GoFlight! It looks VERY impressive! Hope to see more soon!
This is nicely done my friend. The VOX does sound pretty good but the speech is a little computerish. I suppose you give up a little reality for more in another field. Your responses seem to be quite long. Are they "trained"? How much of that whole statement is recognized by the VOX?
And do you mind commenting on the FMC? Looks like a touch screen. One more question. What screen were you popping up and down on the projector? In the windshield left lower?
VoxATC contains both departure & arrival procedures, as well as SIDS/STARS. I had to severely limit the demo due to 10 minute limit. I hope to have a DVD available soon containing a full flight.
I built the simulator over period of years. I don't really know the total cost and don't want to think about it <G>.
I see. However, for the SIDS/STARS, I meant to ask if the terminology is correct. In other words, would it say "Decend and maintain 12,000" or "Cross SYMON at 12,000?" Because almost never does ATC give decent vectors if you file for a STAR.
It will direct you to the entry and exit point of the SID/STAR. When you set up the SID/STAR in VoxATC for your flight... you assign names to the entry-exit points... so it would refer to SYMON by name and direct you to that waypoint
