after finishing reading GWTW (read it before I saw the movie), I immediately got the "sequel" written by someone else. "Scarlett" was AWFUL, and I wish I never read it. It was so badly written, superficial, and some of the plot lines were just way out there. I loved GWTW because of Rhett/Scarlet, but also b/c of the beautiful portrait it painted of the South before/after the civil war. "Scarlett" tarnished all that.
Hopefully the movie isn't too faithful to the book. I still need to see it.
people, scarlett is supposed to be different- she grows up. vivien would have been awful in this role. give this movie a chance. I love GWTW so so so much and I really enjoyed this movie too
@ssssuuuzzi I do get your point. But, in my personal opinion, the ending of GWTW was so perfect, that any sequel to that is unnecessary and even a blasphemy with literature and cinema (i'm exasperating a little). But of course, that's just me.
It makes me ask... whoever directed this movie or wrote this book ever, EVER, read Margareth Mitchell's book or, at leat, saw Victor Fleming's movie? I feel I was disrespected, that sure is not Scarlett. This Rhett doesn't seem that far from Clark Gable's, but this actress is hundreds of miles away from Vivien Leigh. I do believe it's, partly, the script's fault, for these dialogues have nothing to do with the original Scarlett, but she also has her share by being as weak and poorly temperated
It's almost shameful to see this.... Why did they ever made a sequel?? Everyone with common sense would've known that Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable can never be replaced! I have seen this movie once and it never fooled me into thinking that it was about Scarlett and Rhett.
BTW, I waited 3 hours for a "fiddle-dee-dee" and when it finally came it was such a disappointment :(
i taped it and i watch it many times over... i love it and i love them very much. maybe not a box office winner but it was a very good effort- the costumes, the locations... very good.
the whole time i read SCARLETT, i wanted to get to the part where rhett would see her all grown up and mature at last

I have this DVD. I enjoy watching it for the costumes, scenery and the time. Sean Bean looks good in this but he is such a despicable bad guy!
