  • they don't make games like that any more ;(

  • mmmMMMMMM STOP!!!

  • i have it on PS2 and i have rayman 3 hoodlum havoc on PS2 too :D

  • Ultimate nostalgia.

  • what were those huge-eyed misquito things that follow you?

  • @grandmaster593 A huge eyed mosquito (:P) boss from the first Rayman game.

  • Damn I remember this game, it was the first and best game I ever had. Rayman will always be the best in my books and that's a lot seeing as I'm fourteen, I miss my PC!

  • This game is awesome. Some Times i love play it on my PSOne

  • Jeez... If there's something I hate in games, it's breaking the fourth wall, especially with controls. Damn it, was that "approach that special stone and murphy will tell you the keyboard controls via telepathy" stuff really necessary? It's embarrassing. Showing the hints trough game popups was that hard? Ok, at least here it's an excuse to have a funny character...

Damn, I thought I'll break my monitor when in HP3 Ron and Hermione started to talk about keyboard controls...

  • I think a better way to approach it is to have the characters tell you how to do something, but omit mention of corresponding buttons.

Also, this would loosely be considered Painting The Fourth Wall. . Other than Ly the Fairy and Globox (a tiny bit), nothing else in the game tries to even approach it to give the player instructions.

  • @Saestrol I totally agree with the first part of your comment.

And actually, that problem is not that big in Rayman 2. Important thing is that characters in this game... never use their voice when commenting over controls. You can aswell treat them as nameless popups with pictures of characters :)

  • @Saestrol Man, why DreamCast version is totally diferent of PSOne version?

  • I think that question should be the other way around. All the others (including Rayman 2 on the PS2) are the most similar where the PSX version is largely different.

  • @Saestrol Thanks

  • @ThinBear4 It's not really a big deal, it just helps players get the game is all

  • @MustachioMedia For me it is a big deal. It ruins the game's atmosphere. Some games are for me like movies, and imagine if... for example (Potter again, sorry, that one just drilled in my memory too much) if Ron said in the movie "press left mouse button to cast alochomora". The protagonist in these situations should be like "WTF?! What mouse? What button?".

  • @ThinBear4 then how else do you figure out the controls?

  • @SomeFluffer64 Popups. Tip-type popups not related to characters in any way, or just a goddamn chunk of text somewhere on the screen which would explain stuff without involving the characters. Controls and tips are part of GAME MECHANICS, not STORY, and characters in the game with a story shouldn't be even aware that it's a game (with several exceptions).

  • @ThinBear4 you actually do have a point. That does sound fine, actually.

  • @SomeFluffer64 But to be honest, back then, most people thought it was lucrative for characters to explain to the player what buttons to press on your controller. But unfortunately--because NOBODY reads manuals these days, stuff like this is pretty commonplace.

I think there are a few right ways to do it. And in Rayman 3, it uses humor.

  • when rayman says hey he saounds so much like sonic

  • i only have the computer version the cd rom but there all the same

  • raymans laguage is gibberish

  • "Raymanian" to be accurate.

  • @cfire176 sometimes he says the same things with other text

  • after rayman 3 the sereies got ruined with the rabbids

  • This game never gets old. I wish I had the time to sit down and play this again.

  • The music is awesome!

  • Omg, those Teensies drove me crazy every time I played the game! XD

  • omg i feel like im 6 years old again as im watching this

  • i didn't know globox was a daddy :P

  • lol I love the gibberish....

    Rayman: "Hey!"

    Subtitles: "What?"

  • When the baby Globox are crying, it sounds like they're saying "you have to go save my papa" :o

  • Born In 95' played this from 99' till 01'

  • Teensies are funny

  • i remember playing part of this on the ps1

  • If your wondering what it's like, its the opposiote of rayman 2. Its 2-D cartoony and happy. The only character returning from it in Ray2 is only Rayman.

  • It is although I hear it's somewhat challenging.

  • Sae, do you know that thing with big eyes that follows you is a boss from Rayman 1? I didn't play Raymin 1 (I had a Nintendo 64) thought I have seen it. Have you played Rayman 1?

  • I didn't know that. But of course, I haven't played the first Rayman either.

  • You should give it a try if you can. (Although I believe it is very challenging.)

  • is the first one just a side scroller? i always found the side scrolling rayman's to be boring

  • the first rayman was such a hard game. damn, i had it for ps1, and i could never beat it..

  • I always wondered as a kid if there were Globox toys that made squeak noises when you hugged them. x3

Even after seeing footage of the game after all these years, the graphics still look damn good.

  • I love the voice of murfy XD hehehe

  • mmm...STOP

  • what did rayman do to get in prison???? (yea i know teh true story)

    maybe he murdered someone...

  • Well though you know the real story, Rayman along with the other important characters (Ly, Globox, Clark etc.) were fighting off Razorbeard's invasion. They were doing great...

...until the Pirates do the unthinkable and broke the core of the world into into 1,000 Yellow Lums. Then nearly all hope was lost as they got captured.

Razorbeard probably thought Rayman wouldn't be a treat anymore but he thought wrong as we later see.

  • FUN FACT: the creature that appears at 1:05 (The thing with the big eyes) is Moskito, a boss that appears in the original Rayman.

  • I wanna ask you whats the point of the big eyes things all they do is chase you and dont do nothing I had to same thing on the DS verson

  • They just seem to be there for show. They don't appear to do anything special.

  • I to love that Kings. Hilarious. Also...I'm wrong, probably, but I think that Purple Lum was there in the 64 version.

But as said, I'm probably wrong.

  • Heh heh, you are right about being wrong unfortunately.

That Purple Lum leads to the Village of Globox, a place that can only be accessed in the Dreamcast version of the game.

  • Is the Rayman 2 website for the Dreamcast still up and running at all? Just asking.

  • So, who's the real king?

  • It's been undecided. They just co-op amongst themselves the King position by exchanging the crown when their turn are over.

  • I love that Murfy whispers all his lines. It's like he's some secret agent or something. XD

  • they changed the music!!

  • No, this was the original music.

  • nope, you're both wrong. They're both real, the N64 music was just synthesized. If this sountrack was used in the N64, it would have to have the quality decreased really badly, so they synthesized it and did it in GM instead of... I don't know, WAV's, probably.

  • I found some writing problems in the game. They wrote: To find her, you'll need to go through the ISLE OF DOORS. The HALL is a magic place. ???

  • Oh yeah... lol they must have forgotten to check the whole script for the Dreamcast version.

  • cool! thats the one im stuck on!

  • whats the name of the level where you get the orange shoot power?

  • The Canopy. Globox gives it to you.

  • i remember this game ive got it for playstaion 2 (rayman revoulutions) i used to have it for pc but it got stuck in my old computer hehe!

  • this brings back some old memories, thanks for the uploads

  • I think the purple lum leads to a village of Globoxes in the DC version. I've played the n64 pc PS1 and ds versions of rayman 2. They haven't got that lum there. I dunno about the PS2 version. Never played this version. Thanks for the upload!

  • They don't have it there, to granvillimus.

  • That's weird.

The purple lum isn't in the PC or DS version.

  • Don't mean to be rude, but you misspelled "beautiful" on the video description. Sorry!

  • Ah geez... I'm getting sloppy. Thanks for the heads up.

  • I remember finding Globox's kids hilarious when they cried. Random squeaks were hilarious.

  • +1. That MWEH sounds were hilarious XD
