  • I know that feeling fuck how hot was it there man!?

  • Awesome. Nothing like getting a little exercise with a 2 foot grubbing saw on your back.

  • When there is no fire wearing all your PPE on the hike out to what is basically a Trailwork exercise is not a good idea, especially if the temps are over 100 degrees. Carry some of that heat retaining clothing in a pack until in the area of the work. Why risk heat injury when not on a fire?

Also why bring multiple saws if you are just doing rehab in the chaparral, maybe one small saw like a h345 or s260?

  • @cuyamacatmu1 Let me guess, you're not a shot crew

  • Hi, matt, no, I am not. Please consider what I said. I have over 2000 hours ON THE TRAIL doing trailwork in Chaparral, and studied lots of post-incident reports on a disabling or deadly heat injuries. It is one thing to "train the way we fight". . But at some point wearing full PPE& turnouts on the hike in is just courting disaster. I got 18 years experience as a trailworker, 15 in supervison. Most all in SoCal chaprrl. And In civilian life I am a district safety coordinator.

  • DONT STOP KEEP GOIN!

  • well greg you havent seen the angeles have you?

  • Forest Service review of the Station Fire claimed the terrain is "inaccessible". What a load of B.S. You folks are great. Thanks, Greg

  • @PackerGreg Hi Greg with the native chaparral cover on it before the burn and before the dozer scraped it, it probably was just about impassable.
