  • The Young Turks: YAY for the Obama successes. Such awesome progress; The Obama administration has so much integrity. I hear we're trying to make tomahawk missiles more environmentally safe. They're goin' green .. YAY ..

I have a scalpel if anyone wants to use it... well .. once we get a budget ....

    (it's 2012) you're storyline is sew boring ...

    p.s. .. It's all Glenn Beck's fault.

  • I'm not part of any collective nose. I prefer honesty and integrity. Many Americans have that; unfortunately they're not rich-enough to get elected. You need many hours of propaganda to get elected. $millions too ... Most honorable men are not millionaires, they're hard-working honest men and women are in the same situation.. I don't know who to vote for in 2012.. Sponge Bob? maybe? My change is gone- and my hope went a.w.o.l.

  • Dating a sexy wife who is alone mworld5.info

  • i dont like Obama health care plan because he said illegal immigrant get free health care while we citizens have to pay ours i mean its like they come into our country and they get special treatment? wtf kind of shit is that? i mean i'm not being racists but if Mexicans want to be apart of america then come here legally. instead of coming here illegally and make baby's so then the whole us would be like another mexico.

  • mstachife, the same could be said about Obama and the Democratic party. Just look at how Obama promised that partisan politics would be over with. Now we have a democratically controlled house and senate trying to ram through a health care bill with little to no republican support. Is this really non-partisan politics? How do you honestly think that expanding the federal government into the health care industry is going to help the US recover from this recession? It wont.

  • How is he supposed to single-handedly make people be bipartisan? It doesn't matter what HE wants if folks don't share his views.

  • Someone commented that Obama has hurt America more in 9 months than Bush did in 8 years. I am not from America yet I keep reading that it seems that Obama is helping the American economy recover. Could someone enlighten me it seems although I have been to university I am unable to process facts.

  • That's just right-wing republicans. . Bush basically caused us and the world to go into a recession, and Obama is trying to fix it. However, Obama is a democrat and to a republican pretty much everything he says or does is wrong in someway.

  • That's pissed-off Republicans saying that crap. Republicans are the party of the rich (employers), not the party of the people, though they fool a lot of AMericans into voting for them. Republicans will stoop to any level to denigrate a Democrat.

  • The problem is, the republican party does not respect facts. They interpret information in whatever way will hurt the democratic party. So, since the economy is in bad shape when he has been president, of course its Obama's fault if you're a republican.

  • @mezzout Obama is in a sense helping the economy, (he sure didnt harm the economy nearly as bad as bush did.) but he is making a lot of critical bad signs (not pursuing Tim, guietner) its a pretty big disapointment compared to what they promised

  • To quote Al, excuse me, Senator Al Franken: "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot"

  • Yeah. But they announced act of terror on Cnn initially. You never know, the G.I is of Arabic descent. We'll soon find out.

  • READERS..Fort Hood in Texas has just been attacked by TERRORIST. I thought O was going have "dialog" with this thugs. Just like W. He did,nt ask for 9/11 but we got it. Let's see how O reacts now.

  • It was an American soldier.

  • 11 != 3000

  • Destituteill, The Patriot act was passed pretty much after the attacks of 9/11. This was done to try and get information from citizens who might have communication with terrorist. Basically phones of those having conversations with foreigners that drew suspision.were tapped. I think I was in my living room watching the news when I heard the Patriot Act had passed. Thank you for asking. Jesus and I were just kicking it that day. GBY.

  • "Don't take away my health care!" LMAO

By what, ADDING options for health care?

  • how dare you give people choices.. what are you a comunist... ;)

  • Must be!

  • Cenk Uygur definitely goes for the Obama Friend Gold Medal nomination.

  • this one is was borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring yawn

  • Here is the problem that blue dogs need to get. Deeds was a blue dog Dem. He was against the public option, cap and trade, and Pres. Obama agenda on economy and HE LOST. So, if the Blue dogs want to lose next year, then keep standing with the Rep's on those issues and just like VA, Dem's will simply stay home. As for NJ, you had a Dem who's approval rating was 30% his chances of winning before Pres Obama came to help was at 32% after Obama came he shot up to 49% not enough to win but damn close.

  • That is scary, how fucking stupid is the New Jersey voting population? They support a guy because Obama, a fraud, does.

  • No, its the agenda that they supported. Not the man. This is where you guys get it wrong. It doesn't matter WHO is giving the message. ITS THE MESSAGE THAT COUNTS. Its the agenda that we like. If it was Hillary that gave the same message then we would have put her into office instead of Pres. Obama. NJ voters, when they found out that he supported the agenda and Pres. Obama backed it up to be true, People started to pay attention. TRUST BUT VERIFY. unfortunately for him it was verified to late.

  • That is even scarier, that some many people support his agenda. America's public schools are an absolute failure. More and more people are falling on the left side of the IQ bell curve. Obama is a symbol of a collapsing American Empire, which quite frankly deserves to collapse.

  • SO EVERYTHING IS OBAMAS FAULT did i get that right? Hes been in office for 9 months and everything that happend before he became Pres Hell before he was born, he's to blame and America deserves to collapse? Do you know what would happen to this world if America fails. CAN YOU SAY TOTAL WORLD CHAOS. We are the last super power in the world. The world is traded on our dollar and you want us to fail? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Yes we need to get greed out of our capitalist system but collapse it, HELL NO

  • America creates cahos. The world is going to abandon the dollar, China and Russia are already talking about having a gold based reserve currency. The world would be in better shape if America collapsed from being a superpower and empire. The war machine that creates death and chaos would be dead, the zionist terror state Israel would collapse, all the tyrant states America props up would collapse, the world wouldn't have to prop up a debtor and could fund their own economic development.

  • now we find something i can agree on. america needs to stop faking the funk, our golden age is over. 2009 is not 1955. we should cut out the imperialist bullshit, fuck israel/zionism, and stop sticking our collective nose into the world's business.

  • Fuck you. America is obviously not perfect but you way over-exaggerate. Next you'll be saying that WWII was caused by the US and the world would be better if the US had collapsed in place of the USSR. The Middle East is a bloodbath no doubt, but that is in no way the fault of America for supporting Israel. Look at the history of the Middle East, it has been in a perpetual state of either conflict or domination by foreign powers.

  • We fund the bloodbath, and last I checked you guys started the bloodbath in Iraq, and fund the genocide of the Palestinians through ISrael. You fund and create the bloodbaths. You guys created Al Qaeda and Mossad created Hamas. The reason Iran hates us is because we overthrew their democratically elected government in 1953 and replaced it with a tyrannical Shah who oppressed the people. Just because America is the latest imperialist power, doesn't justify it.

  • And learn some basic economics, the world can't just "abandon the dollar" you moron. The world is extremely interdependent and the US has the highest GDP behind the European Union. Almost double that of China and Russia combined.

  • Actually, they can, and they will as the dollar drops against competing world currencies. The US doesn't produce anything, they just spend borrowed wealth from the Federal Reserve, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia etc. We are the largest debtor nation in the world. America is dependent on cheap goods and cheap credit from the nations and institutions I mentioned above.

  • Being the largest debtor nation in the world is precisely why we won't fail. All those countries you mentioned have a stake in us, they don't want to see us fail like you inexplicably do or they lose all that money they lent. Think with your head not your mouth.

  • no they don't simply abandon it.. He phrased that poorly.. But for quite some time there has been talk of a drift towards the euro... dunno what he means about gold based reserve ... as far as I know thats already the case... gold and silver reserves propping up currency... anyway economics is not my area... AT ALL...

  • please explain how obama is a symbol of the collapsing american empire. please explain how he is a fraud.

  • O wants to give more power to the government. He wants the gov't to run business, healthcare, your life and your money. Distribute wealth so everyone is equal...no rich, no poor, just somewhere in the middle. When the gov't runs everything, they dictate rules YOU have to keep in order to be part of the "big enchilada"...thus YOU loose your FREEDOM. My Dad used to say, "Nothing is Free!" Everything cost something, wheather it be your money, or your freedoms, its gonna cost something.

  • where the hell were you when the patriot act passed? shut the fuck up. jesus.

  • you mean the one Obama voted to reauthorize?

  • yep, that'd be the one. i was asking about the source of this act. you never did answer my original inquiry. way to divert.

  • Its not his fault but in many ways he is the symbol of a collapsing empire. With so many major problems facing you, he cannot even give healthcare to his own people. This is something the rest of the modern world does without much trouble and considers it a minor issue. I am sure he is doing his best, but it looks like his best is not good enough.

High expectations really worked against him.

  • Obama graduated colombia and harvard law.. He's a smart man, and is hardly a symbol of faling public education..

  • You are actually trying to push the argument that Deeds lost because he wasn't trumpeting the "public option"? ROTFL. That's absolutely ridiculous, and another reason why you continue to look ridiculous.

Maybe, just maybe, Deeds running a campaign, which was almost exclusively negative and never stated what he actually stood for, was the reason why he was blown out.

Putting a whole campaign on trying to convince people that Bob McDonnell was a loon wasn't the best way to go.

    lol

  • I said he didn't get the Dem's that voted for Obama out to vote for him because he was against Pres. Obama's agenda and the people that voted for Pres. Obama did so because of his AGENDA. If he didn't get on tv and tell the Dem's that voted for Pres. Obama, that he would support Pres. Obama's agenda, that he was against the public option. He would have gotten more votes.

  • First and foremost, hindsight being 20/20, the "Obama Coalition", young people, minorities and good government independents, for the most part, stayed home for this election.

Secondly, Creigh Deeds, one of the most conservative Virginia Gubernatorial candidates in some time, didn't even run on the Creigh Deeds' agenda. Simple as that.

If Deeds had run a campaign, where he told voters in Virginia what he wanted to do for Virginians, in addition to higlighting where he and Obama agreed, ...

  • maybe he would've done better.

Still, trying to bring it down to Deeds not running his race as a "leftist", abandoning all he actually stands for, is dumb.

  • And, again with this caricature of what President Obama's agenda is.

On healthcare, he's been absolutely clear on the issue:

If it were King Obama, he would want to see a plan come forth that, expanding on the private insurance system, could provide affordable coverage to all Americans, with his government jumping into the market, with a national plan, if private insurance couldn't create the desired competition and affordability/coverage measures.

  • However, as President Obama, he understands that Congress is the place where legislation is decided, so he's allowed Congress to craft the desired legislation, bringing forth bills that could pass the two respective chambers, with him signing it at the end.

Make sure the bill goes after the consumer protections that Democrats have been pushing for years to see, doesn't add a penny to the deficit, costs under a trillion dollars, and expands coverage to as many people as possible.

  • No requirement for a public option. No requirement that universal coverage is realized now. No call for "Medicare-for-all". None of it.

All he's asked for are the consumer protections in the bill, expanding access to affordable coverage for individuals and small business, and doing so in a way that's financially responsible and paid for. Simple as that.

  • that was the problem. At the debate he said and I quote "I don't think the public option is necessary in any plan...I would certainly consider opting out if that were available to Virginia," That sealed it for the Dem's in Virginia. He, like those stupid Blue Dogs in congress think walking away from Pres. Obama is the way to get re-elected, but they are dead wrong. That's why Deeds had apologized and begged Pres. Obama to come out and help him at the end. A little to late I might add.

  • Have you ever been to Virginia? To be upfront, I haven't.

Still, in looking into all the polling coming from that state, as well as how the state breaks on a host of issues involving the reach of the federal government, It'd be easy to realize that Virginia isn't hardly the "government option" loving state that you're trying to paint it to be, lets just be honest with the info.

In Virginia, maybe running against the "public option" is the right thing.

  • He is for many of the reforms that Democrats have been working to bring forth, eliminating pre-existing conditions, dropping people, who have paid their premiums in full, from coverage, capping benefits, eliminating the anti-trust insurance measures, and a host of other constructive ideas, put forth to protect consumers and provide affordable coverage.

However, he's against seeing a "public option",, especially the way the House originally wrote it, that had a major chance of ravaging the ...

  • hospitals in rural Virginia, where he was from.

Simple to convey to people. He's a fan of insurance reform, as long as it doesn't go out of its way to adversely effect the rural hospitals of the state.

A principled stance, on an issue that is on the radar of many people, that doesn't throw the president "under the bus".

If he had policy positions on the economy, energy, transportation, education and healthcare, and went about explaining that to people, Deeds would've done better, IMO.

  • Just look at what he did in his campaign He didn't even go into the black community's he didn't hit the city's or the University's at all unless Pres. Obama was with me. He thought he could just hit the rural areas and pluck off enough independents with his anti-Obama, no opinion, trash talk about the Rep's and he would get the white independent vote and that would be enough. And the Republican looked at what Pres. Obama did and did it to a tee. He stayed in the middle and didn't do attack adds.

  • When was he anti-Obama? You keep putting that statement out front, as if it actually carried any merit.

He's against Obama because he doesn't support a "public option", which was originally tied to Medicare, at rates that would've ravaged rural hospitals?

    That's utter nonsense.

The fact of the matter is Deeds ran a campaign where no one knew where he stood on any of the issues, outside of his belief that McDonnell was a "radical".

All Deeds needs was a 5 point plan.

  • All he needed to do was tell Virginia voters what his plans were on five key issues:

    -Jobs

    -Transportation

    -Healthcare

    -Energy

    -Education

That's it. Run a campaign with positions to stand on, regardless of Obama, and Deeds could've done a lot better.

McDonnell won the race because he ran his campaign on the ideas that he had to improve the jobs situation in Virginia. That's all.

If you believe anything else, for both governors races, you're fooling yourself.

  • 44 mins

    are you kidding me?

  • That 19% of Nebraskans are probably all on Medicare.

  • In my opinion, the economy isn't the important issue. The environment is. I'm not a hippie, nor do I care about fuzzy animals, but the environment will cause geopolitical catastrophy within my lifetime if it is not adressed. I lost my job, my mother lost her job (we both worked at same newspaper company, lol!) but I still think the environment is much much MUCH more significant than the economy. I actually kind of want the econmomy to collapse so we can cut Co2 emmissions.

  • Omfg...

    envirfags should just die...

Global warming was so so hyped up, get over it.

  • If u think global warming is a hype then u are one religious ret@rd how dosent give a sh!t what science or scientists say.

You only give a dam what ur gay @ss pastor or whatever says.

This statement alone makes u a frekin ret@rd and all ur points are void from here on..

  • Not a hippie, LOL

  • That fucking headphone commerical is so god damn loud, easily my most hated.

  • Agreed.

  • "If Obama doesn't fix the economic system we're in real trouble."

NO, then we just simply vote him out in 3 years. There's just no way this guy is going to get a second term.

  • You get that right. We didnt voted obama for his popularity or his speeches. Actually partially speeches because he said he was gonna reform health care and we were gonna get national healthcare. I know that national healthcare went down the toilet but if he cant pass a super strong public option then he can forget next year re election. He is gonna lost alot of Independents and few democrats.

If u are proud to be republican then shame on u. NOT TALKING TO U EXPELLERPRESS8

  • Obama promised to pay my mofuckin rent and give me a check and healthcare. what the fuck happened to that?

  • O really .. do u want him to breath for u? Do u want him to chew ur food? ret@rd.

He did promise healthcare but he is not giving the result needed. We will see in time.

  • But the problem is that you morons did vote him in for his speeches, one of the major reasons people voted for Obama was this whole miracle image of Obama that the media spread. Obama may have promised this change, but don't you see? The guy just wanted to be president. He is not the miracle cure you people are searching for, he is such a fraud and it was so stupid that you all didn't see it for so long..

  • not to bash you... but a lot of people said that about bush

  • It's completely stupid to argue against healthcare reform. What are their signs gonna say?

"Up with healthcare costs!" "I really have no idea why I'm arguing against this" "Yay for Insurance companies and denying coverage!"

  • @AverageAdam You have NO idea what all is entailed in the H.C Sham..

Because if you did, you wouldn't be talking out your ass like that. Remember

we have to pass it to find out what's in the legislation? I was born at night.

Just not last night..This is bad law and must be overturned if the Republic

    is to survive.

  • I hope the TYT nation sets michelle bachman on fire

  • Are you fucking serious?

    Obama is a hack...

    Wake up already

  • "The Superbowl of Freedom"?

Michelle Bachmann always have this crazy look in her eyes.

  • i find the disappointment / criticism of obama to be extremely weak and dishonest...people are pretending as if the election of obama meant that all the corporatist blue dogs would disappear....that all of the republican obstruction wouldn't exist....that the MSM lies and distortions wouldn't continue...and the right wing hate would calm down....obama is facing the hardest inherited challenges of any president in the last 100 years...he's only been pres. for 10 months...and people complain

  • NY-23‎ FTW !

The first Democrat to control the district since at least the 1890s.

Suck on it Palin and Beck!

  • Please go to the protests.

I want Fox News to eat it.

  • The google ad keeps screwing up at 29:23 and won't go past.

  • most politicians just want their money and benefits, and not give them up. Their rich anyways why do they need fantastic benefits? the common people need to understand that most politicians are rich, and they have no idea what its like to be an average american. their not the voice of the people just because they have sympathy for the middle. i want to see one that has empathy and knows the struggles of average americans.

  • We constantly hear about American Exceptionalism... would be good to see it, but all you see is fear, need for instant gratification, me first attitudes...

It took 20 years to create the economic situation... it takes more than one year to fix it..

Second. Obama cannot do it alone, the american people have to get involve.. demand health care, call their congress men and women call their senators, don't leave the right fanatics own the media push!

  • What the fuck do you mean Obama can't do it in one year..?

He can't do it at all...

He has done nothing this year, did you hear the actual accomplishments of his admin.?

did you notice that the stimulus was not one of them?

Every job he 'saved or created' cost taxpayers fucking 250 000 dollars...

  • You sound pretty angry.

  • your comparing an entertainment show to a politician?..... Well that explains a lot.

  • lol, im independant and a proud LIB! 1 % of america watches limbaugh....you call that popular? i just want for any unhealthy americans to not be affraid about going to the doctor and getting checked! im sorry i care, oh wait no im NOT! and get off the computer and go back to watching fox "NEWS", im sure you'll find that APPEALING

  • 37:07 you're damned right Cenk.

Once Americans have UNC, they'll love it as much as us Canadians do.

We recently voted Tommy Douglas (founder of UNC in Canada) as the greatest Canadian ever to live. What does that tell you?

  • change comes when you and others help by writing and keeping the public aware, the base is sitting back, where are they? this was not one of your best segments ... being on the left as independents? too impatient, change takes time and letters, calls to Reps,Senators count. i feel change comes when your party cooperates...conserv dem are not, independents wanted Obama to go in and say i am here and i want change!! that is not how it works,Rahm is the problem

  • $30 bucks for sleep pills? Jeez, just go buy some Benadryl and be done with it.

  • Or a bottle of Jack for that matter.

  • Thank fuck I don't live in your country.

    ~

    A United STATE of Americans.

    Left and right.

  • Nation states have a hegemony globally. We all have to live under their state.

  • What about Stem Cell Research? Why the hell are people turing on Obama so quickly?

  • *to the stupid ad at the beginning*--"wanna sleep well try f*cking before bed* ;)

  • Hi all isn't this a lovely day?

  • Fuck Sleep Apnea Commercials.

  • Get it into your thick skulls!

Democrats and Reps are all the f**king same...jesus christ!!!.

How stupid do u have to be not to know that.

    Damn sheep of the herd!

  • I'm Happy Corzine lost. He finicially destroyed this state and am sooo tired of the state raising taxes and seeing nothing happen.

  • I'm amazed at the people who said that, "Obama won't CHANGE America for the better in 1,2,3 or even 4 years!" Now these same people, after 10 months, are questioning as to why it's taking him so long to CHANGE things? This country is full of idiots on both sides of the coin! Maybe Palin/McCain would've have served this fence rider (cenk) better? People like him will say or do anything for attention.

  • whiteliberal1: I think I understand it.

Bush was so awful a president, that a) they've forgotten that it took him 8 years to fuck up this badly and b) they wanted a change from the usual so much that they wanted it to happen RIGHT NOW.

I think Obama should be measured by the same yardstick that his predecessor was.

He hasn't fucked up ANYWHERE NEAR on the scale that Bush did, and that's a fact.

  • Just goes to show you, people are impatient. I, for one, do remember Bush. I'm sorry to say I voted for him. (Young and stupid). Some change is not going to happen overnight, but there are something that should be working by now. It more comes to wiether he's progressive or stable. I think he's stable. Not the greatest job in the world, but at least chaos won't break loose. Take the victories as you get them and vote someone better as next time.

  • MarkCrimson - I agree with much of what you've written here, but I don't think that progressive necessarily obviates stability i.e. you can be both.

Look at the hate crimes laws, look at the Stem Cell Research that ExcellentChild alludes to.

None of this would have happened under a more conservative president.

But you're right in that he's installing it at what, to me, is a relatively stable rate.

The hard question to me is "what needs to change now, and what later?"

  • I'll agree to that. My number one concern in politics is civil rights, and what's been done can count as a major victory. I'll give him props for that. I'm satisfied on that issue. I'm just saying he has at least got three more years. Still a lot of time to do more. In my mind, any smart president can and should be doing those things. What matters is what he does with the rest of his time.

  • Exactly! Or at least give the man 4 years! These ppl. assume he should CHANGE the world in 6 months!

But you have these "media whores" who will go out of their way to say that, "where's the change?" These same jackasses said that, "we have to give the President time to fix this mess we're in!" When the h/c bill is passed, cenk will be the first one to act as if everyone has amnesia. He'll say, "I know this was a patient man. That's why he won the election". What a joke the media has become.

  • If you are measuring Obama on the same yard stick as Bush than actually the two are very similiar. Bush's average approval rating of his first year was higher than Obama's, so the argument would be that Obama is actually worse...

I mean the stimulus is going to be a bigger tax burden than anything Bush did in his first year..

  • So u are saying Obama will READRESS Healthcare in 3-5 years, reopen the senate and Congress vote, as well as a new Health and finance comitte vote all over again?

Why not just do it right this time?

  • What I'm saying is that, while I, too, want him to do it right the first time (DO IT NOW!), that ALL the changes that EVERYONE wants AT THE SAME TIME might not come to fruition in his first year.

The healthcare issue, yeah do it, do it right, do it right now.

Everything in general (the Afghanistan war, troops in Iraq, the economy, unemployment etc.) is more complicated, and may take time.

I WANT him to do well, and will be happy if he does, but I understand if he's not perfect.

  • First of all, if your comprehension in to what "I am saying" is that bad, then don't bother to respond.

The h/c reform isn't totally in the President's hand. This has to pass to through the house and senate as well.

Once the President gets the h/c bill passed, the very same ppl. will be bitching about something else he hasn't done in a timely manner! Why not do it right this time? You act as if his term is up and he didn't get anything passed.

  • That doesn't change the FACT that he had his channce when he spoke to congress and he backpedaled on the public option.

And the fact that Rahm Emanuel kept pushing for the trigger option. These are not mistakes that can be rectified with time, this are mistakes he did right here and now.

  • Has the h/c bill passed or failed? If not, what are you talking about?

  • Virginia? It's a republican state. Obama was the first Democratic President to win that state in years.

Moderate voters? They (conservatives) trashed the moderate in NY-23. Which one will choose? I don't know about a great day for "moderate thinking ppl.".

Speaking of eggs....Go ahead and put them all in one basket.

  • Democrats don't get it.

The American people prefer Fox News.

  • AcePilot101: If you mean that the American people prefer to be brainwashed by Fox so-called "news" than to get the facts, then that's a very sad day indeed.

What I'm seeing is just a fear of taxes rising one IOTA, even if it might help you, yet a happy ignorance of the deficit caused by Bush jr. and Gulf War II, espoused by that show.

Most people get that the show is bullshit, surely? O'Reilly et al, the Lord Haw Haw of the Bush Admin.

You'd better hop to, son, or be left in the dark ages.

  • What's really sad is the greed in this country. These mongers have sucked up all the taxes, squeezed out all the happiness and prosperity, and removed all the freedom of choice for survival out of the American people! Consider the amount of people who even want to vote in this country...pick an evil any evil. We should ALL be writing letters DEMANDING the RIGHT to review the bills ourselves and INDEPENDANTLY VOTE for what we want. We should ALL have the right to know where our $ goes as well!

  • You can judge a man by the company he keeps.

Obama is a crook no different than Bush.

I'd rather vote for crooks that will cut my taxes than crooks that will raise my taxes.

    good riddance to Democrats

  • When did Obama raise your taxes? Did bush cut your taxes?

  • The Democrats are worthless and weak. The entire country had such high hopes for this new President, and all he has done is let everyone down. There is no such thing change in Washington, and Barrack can be the first one to attest to that.

  • The long pre roll add really sucks before the show.

    Bad.

  • BULLSHIT ! cigs r way too high as it is , tax something else.

  • Are US health insurance companies 'for profit' companies???

That seems to be what i'm hearing!

That would be illegal in my country!

All our private health insurance companies are not-for-profit organisations owned by their members.

Plus everybody has Medicare, so private Health Insurance companies only cover things in addition to medicare.

So - for-profit health insurance companies run the US health care system??

    Really?

    That's bizaar!!

  • What was so wrong about the Baucus/Conrad regional co-op idea?

With government start-up money, states, on their own or with other states, would have the ability to pool together their uninsured residents, in an effort to create affordable insurance, to provide affordable care, financed by the contributions of those involved with the regional policy.

What was wrong with the "trigger" option put forward by Snowe(R)/Carper(D)?

If after all the new industry rules were put into place the ...

  • insurance companies still couldn't provide affordable coverage to the entire country, the federal government would step in with a plan, negotiated by HHS with doctors and hospitals across the country, like every other insurance company, to provide that coverage. And, if certain states didn't want their constituents to participate, they could chose to "opt-out" of such a plan.

  • Both, in my opinion, were solid center-left ideas, which actually went at providing a solution, along with the content of the rest of the bill, to the healthcare problem in this country. Both ideas proved that Democrats could come up with practical solutions that actually show that government can do something right.

Instead, idiots, like Cenk, continue to cry for nonsense like "Medicare-for-all", which even in its' current form is still facing insolvency issues in the next 10 years.

  • "Medicare-for-all", as much as the "left" doesn't want to see it, will never be, in this country of +300 million people, for two simple reasons:

    1) We have a country of +300 million people!

    2) In the countries where the "Medicare-for-all" idea has taken whole, the citizens face tax rates greater than 50% of income, and yet people are bringing out pitchforks when the talk turns to raising taxes by 3%.

be real for once and try the country fo what it is.

  • wtf....I live in canada and we dont face 50 % tax rates....you are a bold faced liar....thank you for helping the democratic cause with your stupidity.

Hell in my home province of alberta, healthcare has NO levied taxes or premiums.

Healthcare is CHEAPER if it is publicly provided. It drives competition for the best rates and care. Simple as that.

    you've been brainwashed.

  • 1) Here are the raw numbers:

    -Federal income tax: 15%-29%

    -Provincial tax rate: 5%-18%

    -Goods and Services Tax: ~5%

    -Provincial Sales Tax: 5%-13%

Add in the Harmonized Sales Tax, and you're getting around 50%

    2) The population of Canada, to the best of my knowledge, has a population of less than 35 million people, a tenth the population of the U.S.

The simple facts of the matter are that the U.S. has ten times the people at twice the costs of Canada.

  • no to mention that an AVERAGE salary pays about 22% in canada if you are married with 2 kids, and up to 33 if you are single with no kids....no where NEAR greater than 50....you are a lieing waste of space and your opinions mean shit now because you exposed yourself as a liar.

  • lol

And you honestly want to start talking about average salaries?

Across any demographic, all you have to do is look at after tax income numbers to be silenced.

  • To believe a single president could have really enacted real change is overly optimistic. Right now, we Americans, are on the "One step forward, two steps back", plan. Every burst bubble leaves us weaker.

Some have become wealthy, and (or) wealthier in this flawed system, while the rest of the county takes another step back.

Until the practice of lobbying is outlawed, and a complete separation from state and big business, and dynasty wealth is signed into law, I'm not holding my breath.

  • well said. I like this.

  • --Wow...coming from a guy calling himself "trinity.." - very christian of you...jesus would be proud.

  • and you're watching this why?

  • Stop habiskying, you guys.

  • bachmann needs to shut the fuck up i think we should have the democrats go down there and tell her what we as the people want and ruin her fun lies

  • We should take bachmann's advice and go there to and tell people that we like not having healthcare, or in certain states paying through the nose for it....

Yeah just kidding however a counter rally in favor of the public option (I'd love single payer, but i will take what i can get) that dwarfs theirs, would be awesome.

Or just make their rally seem super massive and then say when interviewed (you know faux will be there) that you love not having healthcare, basically laughing at them.

    =D

  • i fear if we did single payer the first chance the republicans get they will fuck it up completely when they r in office but if they somewhat or completely screw up the public option for 4-8 years not so bad we still have insurance companys to fall back on and the messed up thing bout fox is o reilly admits to wanting a public option and i hope tyt army beats bachmann's fucked upness

  • 119.1 million people leaving private insurance, crippling the industry. Yes in a way the massive layoffs (and the subsequent increase in government employees) would not be looked upon as a "good" thing (well... the rehires would). But I have to say that in a single payer system that would be just fine since those without the care that they get would not DIE. B4 you start talking about wait times to see doctors like other single payers, realize that doctors come to the US for the money.

  • So what you're saying is that doctors are greedy, and might just take out my kidney, to pay off his boat?

Then I don't want him/her to be my doctor.

  • No, that not what i am saying, what i am saying is to the effect of the reason that saying in Canada for instance it takes quite a while (like 2 weeks on the fast end, 3 months on the really slow end) to get a CAT scan or an MRI done is because there are less specialists there. The people in question have come to the US since (I assume) the "prevent a lawsuit" care and the number of people (iffy) plus the amount paid by private insurance is (shaky assumption) more than public care. Its numbers.

  • Repubs health care plan has not changed since Grayson took a look at it earlier.

  • The old appeals to racial, sexual and religious chauvinism, to rabid nationalist fervour are beginning not to work. A new consciousness is developing which sees the Earth as a single organism and recognizes that an organism at war with itself is doomed. The internet revolution has begun. The TYT are a part of this, its good to see they are doing well.

  • Hey nigun2, the election was in Virginia, not Maryland, retard.

  • Holy crap, no ads for once.
