  • thank you i have been wanting to set up an alter but people say nine then some say on ilke one and the candle so next week i will set it up . since i had a dream that i needed to burn a red and black candle had a reading that my ansestors want to help me any infor on how to ste this up is welcome and again thank you

  • @brickhouse48 the basics of what i was taught was a white altar cloth, photos/names/etc of ancestors, bible, vessel of water, white candle, fresh flowers. other than that i say to go with what your heart says. i also place items on my ancestor altar that i knew my ancestors liked when they were alive (whiskey, candy, cigarettes, etc.) we also have a special white plate that we use for food offerings.

  • @brickhouse48 the store "traders of the lost art" is on wall street right at the end where the farmer's market is usually setup. great to hear from other local people! there are some other great shops locally too!

    I can't believe for how long i wanted to create my own alter.. and nowhere in my house can i find a place for my alter, this bothers me so much, off to my kitchen i hav a 4 foot bookcase, atop a photo of Daddy,i have a few nic nacs there, but nothing like what you created, have always desired one of my own, you've inspired me

  • Very nice ancestor altar. It's nice to see other's altars from other traditions :-) I hear ya on the 9 vessels of water! I don't have enough room for food offerings on my altars half the time.
