This is a very touching documentary. A similar incident happened to my family except the time spent outside the country was only a few months. Its very tragic that US immigration did not offer a path to citizenship or provide a due process hearing since she claimed asylum way back in 1989. How is it that she is punished for her nation overthrowing a communist regime? Instead, the government chose to tear apart a family and deport a woman who was running a business and being the American dream.
i saw that story on fox chicago (WFLD)i was so sad.KORD(chicago O'hare),that family is from shiller park,Il,south of o hare and west of chicago.that comunity its mainly polish.river grove-shiller park.
That is the life of the immigrant. It doesn't matter where you are you will always be prejudiced, powerless and alienated. Who hasn't tried the life of the immigrant should remain silent and say nothing at all.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
also, this shows how much the government sucks. seriously why the polish. havent they been through enought shit? they should deporting the mexicans who just come to america to make money not deep stuff like this.
dude the fucking fat nigger in the yellow shirt should go fuck himself. wut a dick. notice how everbody was like "kill urself u fat fuck" because he wouldnt let the dude say goodbye to his family
OMG thats sooooo sad like how it fells like to be separated by ur family because og the goverment. And I AM SO PIST OFF HOW HOMELAND JUST CURSED IN FRONT OF ANOTHER FAMILY!!!! FUCK HOLELAND.Fuck the goverment of the us.
They are friends of mine and neighbors the U.S. flag still flys over his house everyday.. I cry myself too... because I helped them in doing little stuff around the house. I drank a beer with him a couple weeks before this happen. No one knew untill 10 days prior to this film.
Thanks to whoever had the foresight to document this tragedy. We need immigration reform in this country; we need to secure our borders. But we can't lose sight of what makes America a truly amazing place worth aspiring to live in: The human justice in our heart.
Please don't let this experiment called America disappear as kneejerk xenophobes destroy families.
Create reform, that's fair and keeps families together.
I watched this video and was pulled in. By the end I was crying. I can imagine the loss that people experience when they are separated by unnatural reasons like displacement, war and seeking a better life. In this story the faces are white. The same is probably more common in families of color. What doesn't matter is the sense that we could do better to unite families and not facilitate tearing them apart!
Why do Limbaugh and Mike Savage get off from whipping up so much hatred. I wish they would look at the actual lives they are destroying. GOP bigotry has made America a shameful embarrassment.
It's part of American culture now. People like this are everywhere, but it seems that "post 9/11-thinking" has given a lot of room for bigotry and racism. We will all be fucked because Americans are too lazy mentally to oppose the propaganda. Part of the propaganda is to make you passive and morally bankrupt. It has succeeded. The world will curse the current generations of Americans for many years, -as many years as it takes to deal with the fallout of disastrous policies.
It's not just the USA, this stuff happens in Western Europe as well- at the very least, awfully similar "stories" have happened in the Netherlands over the past years.
The world may curse the Americans for many years, but not over this- this is what the West as a whole can shamefully gnash their teeth over :-/
Wait, I love the part where he ducks under a security barrier to kiss his kid. Rules, regulations, laws, airport security rules don't matter much do they?
Thank you "AdrienneGrey" for your comments, some people definitely should be very ashamed regarding attitudes about immigration. How does taking a $300 (or whatever it costs) plane flight once in a while compare to LIVING WITH ONE'S FAMILY? To "rogersIII", I hope you never are parted from any of your family for any reason, and never suffer the pain this family obviously is, day by day, living very far apart.
BTW, I can't imagine what kind of haters could not feel pity and frustration at the injustice of this situation, let alone bitch about Rick Jacobs or that this dad isn't poor enough to care about, even if he can afford $300 plane trips to see his family once in a while. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Why??? Because the INS, funded by WE THE PEOPLE, has under a stone-hearted group of oil-obsessed criminals known as the Bush Administration, become all bureaucracy and no humanity, that's why. Want a change? Contact your congress and senate representatives and tell them you won't stand for an America that tears families apart.
I can't believe that Rick Jacobs of Courage Campaign put this video together - he is in the back pocket of George Bush.
This amnesty bill is about Mexicans getting access to American social programs, and erasing the border between Mexico and the US that Bush/Kennedy want with their Dem/Repub buddies who are so out of touch with the little guy in America. This will weaken union wages too. I don't like that Courage Campaign is a paid stooge for George Bush/Kennedy thru George Soros.
This video shows intelligent, highly-skilled Pole immigrants who know the rules of the INS. His wife probably overstayed her visa - no big deal - getter corrected. On top of that once Tony gets his US citizenship, the INS gives special preference.
I used to work for a firm that was run by Croatians, and employed mostly Croatians-this is close enough to the Polish immigrants: They are educated and smart as Tony shows-just look at his house, the computers and furniture-he ain't slumming it.
So, Rick Jacobs wants us to feel sorry for the rich - that's real sweet......I feel his pain. What is Rick Jacobs getting paid for this video from Soros (who is not slumming it either)??
They fly back to Croatia all the time. Plane tickets are cheap-about $300 for advance tics. I don't feel sorry for
Tony, he will hop on a plane and see his wife and kid. He is not poor. He will see his relatives while there and probably get a business deduction for traveling back to Poland to consult with his wife, the business partner.
I can't wait for the next hogwash video that Rick Jacobs sends to us little guys out here in America (unless he reads this and cuts me off his emailing list).
hey dude 4 ur info plane tickets to poland cost $1200-1300 YOU woulden't want to buy ur wife and son that kind of amount of money and cant see them 4 the next 10 years but they did
I do wonder if you have a heart, "rogersIII", perhaps you should check your pulse. It is hatred and jealousy, such as that exhibited by people such as yourself, which has contibuted to the mess the immigration system is currently in. Your ignorance shows in your comments re the amnesty bill being about "Mexicans getting access to American social programs". (Never mind that Mexicans are also "Americans", YOU are presumably a U.S. citizen, NOT JUST an "American".)
There is no "special treatment" to people such as Tony. Sounds very much like you haven't made much money, & are jealous of all those "educated and SMART" "Croatians": and you must not be. By your reasoning, if you had bothered to get the education, and if you were as smart as Tony, YOU would have the "house, the computers and furniture" you so covet and resent that someone else has. BTW: when did YOUR family come into the U.S.? Unless you are 100% American Indian, YOU are not a native either.

She checked the wrong box on a form a dozen years ago and all of her paperwork is invalid because of it.
