  • can u do aprs just from the vx-170 itself? plus i dont see any menu option for aprs

  • @808514 No you cannot, that's why I have the external tracker plugged into it here.

  • Okay thank you de kd0hon

  • Another question, how do you have your power routed to the battery?

  • @whistlesun I ran the wire through a rubber seal underneath the dash into the engine compartment.

  • How do you mount the FT-2800-M.

    Many 73s de KD0HON

  • @whistlesun Mine is just sitting in that conveniently made area.

  • @HookAndBullet I agree that attending a SKYWARN class doesn't deem one okay to chase; it may inform those of how to be cautious, safe, and alert. It's up to the ppl who attend to use these methods in the field. He should've shot this video while he was at a complete stop. It degrades the chasing community when seeing a video like this. There are many types of chasers and you were proven a point of which category to put this video under. Hope this doesn't scar your opinion of all chasers.

  • @ChaseSevereWeather I agree, this person should have done his demo while stopped and not driving.

  • where did you get your ham radio? i'm trying to hind one for a reasonable price and im goona get my license as i am a storm spotter in iowa. please help!

  • @Sniper09Omega A ham radio shop in Austin, TX. Try googling a shop near you

  • @NFSfan38 Check out AESHam.com and randl.com

  • @HookAndBullet Just the built in mic, nothing extra. I do love my ht though. Here's a tutorial I made about it:

  • @HookAndBullet Don't be a hater. I was in light rain, not a storm. I do know the difference between storm spotting and storm chasing. Chasers aren't just a bunch of yahoos like you make them out to be. I started as a spotter and slowly broadened my horizons and started chasing further from home. I do agree on one point though; the NWS SKYWARN program is a spotter program. Meaning we stick pretty close to home and report as needed/requested.

    73s

  • Do you have to go to the Skywarn meetings to get set up as a storm chaser? I've been a tech for about a year but have not had the money to afford a good radio yet.

    Very nice car man!

  • @tetra021 I go to SKYWARN training (basic and advanced) every year, but at this point I pretty much know everything they teach already 'cause I've heard it so many times. :P
