i had a 1986 haro freestyler invert when i was a kid and that bike was the business. i never stopped and now i ride a custom stolen cheater. bmx for life!
I still have my old bmx bikes in my attic. A Robinson, a Supergoose, and a Thruster. Boxes full of old araya rims, a uni seat ,red line cranks etc. Glad somebody thinks this stuff is cool. I raced here in Miami Fl back in the day early 80's- Nelson Chanady era.
80's hell we started BMX in the 70's i raced in the first state run BMX race in Utah look up 1970's BMX i have a slide show sorry no motion picture it was the 70's
i had a monguse california it was so light even when i was like 13 i broke everything except the frame and fork and handel bars but i fix up wit new parts and it was still light as hell and the frame held up like no other let a friend barow it 3 years ago never got it back it had be on of last ones made
My boyfriend raced during that time, he was sponsored by Team Robinson and a few others. His name is Jason Shegas, anyone here race with him? I'm looking for the old school magazines if anyone can help me find them.
Great video thanks for posting it really brought back some good memories. When I was a wee little lad I had a friend who owned a Hutch Pro Racer with 3-piece Bullseye cranks and I tell you I've never held a lighter or better BMX bike ever and I've been on many.
I've owned over 10 bikes, most were BMX, and all of them but one were stolen from me, near my property. I rent, and live in Minnesota. Even the bikes I was able to find that were taken, wound up gone again. Keep a firm eye on any of these, they are HOT property! I truly regret my lax security as I have no more bikes, or money to get any
thanks a lot man!i live in greece so old skool parts are not in the market anymore!i own for many years a mongoose supergoose which i made it a bmx bandits movie replica.all chrome with blue rims and parts!i haven't ride it since 1996 but i found it in my garage and now i want to restore it!
oigan,,, necesito saber como puedo mandar hacer o donde venderan la parte donde en las bicicletas bmx old school se agrega otro acompañante y es de 3 ruedas...
back in the 80's i had chrome framed bmx with plasic moulded blue wheels.. i wish to god i still had it! i must be greatful that ive still got my red reliegh grifter... hoorey!!!
Back in the 80s i had a full cro-mo dp firebird freestyle frame with gt bars,tuff-neck cranks and stem, mx brakes and skyway mags man i wish i still had that bike!!
Yeah, those days were really fun, bikes were great. I had mixed feelings back then about he PK Ripper and the aluminum but what I know now, about aluminum and welding, those bikes were to bomb........I did love SE colors, the baby blue and the camoflauge, and the light browns.......really neat. I had Redline and Hutch however, Still have my hutch in great shape.....wish I had the pedals and the cranks however.
The down tube on my Haro Freestyler snapped in half after about 18 months. The welds inside the forks also broke, so that only the front brake bolt was holding them together.
The Haro Master frame released a couple of years later also broke.
I then moved onto Redline, and an RL20 (with a single pipe for a top tube), and it was (and still is) indestructible.
Still have it with HP48 rims, flight cranks, Redline bars, and would never sell it. A relic frozen from 1987.
I'm only 18, I love collecting old bmx bikes. I have quite a few now. I have a 1985 SE Quadangle Freestyle, 1986 Mongoose Decade, 1981 Mongoose Supergoose with NIckel Finish with Motomag to Wheels, and a 1984 Mongoose Californian, and some others...
I love the old school BMX! I've got a '26 Champion. My favorite of all time is my Mongoose two/four! I don't get to ride them often these days beacause I live in LA. I'll never part with them.
Yeh, I liked that PK Ripper after a while. At first I was scared of the Aluminum and the giant welding, thinking that was somehow not strong. I thought Torkers were funny, had no friends with Torkers. I had a Redline and then a Hutch. Still have the Hutch today, want to give it to a son or daughter if I ever have one. The only sad thing is that I could not afford Hutch Pedals or Cranks or Hubs! I have the Hutch Forks, Neck, Handlebars. Great video....thanks.
Cool History. To see one of the First Freestyle teams to use P.K.Ripper in .1982 check out (Crazy Lacy BMX) This guy has the Super Style II BMX Freestyle team.
