  • This is on cable tv 6 times a week in pennsylvania. On 6 diffrent stations. Aaaaaalllllll yyyyyyeeeeaaaaarrrrr lllllooooonnnggggg

  • One of my favorite movies of all time.... :)

  • Bill Murray really is a dick...its like he doesn't have to act

  • great movie, great review

  • Why is Game of Death private?

  • I'm kinda surprised... to me it sounds like in U.S. this really wasn't a movie from which you'd expect much... In my country (Czech republic) it was actually aired way too much on every TV channel possible... from 1994 or 1995 to probably 1998 every TVs were airing this movie repeatedly, so let's say you saw it 3 to 5 times a year

  • When he tries to save the homeless guy, it always gets me.

  • They filmed the quarry scene, at the quarry just down the street from my house.

  • Groundhog day are a AWESOME holiday !

  • Reminds me of Kenny from South Park, always dying but waking up the next day and no one remembers a thing. lol I love this movie! XD

  • The saddest scene in the movie is when Phil is trying to help out the homeless guy. That scene almost made me cry.

  • One of my favorite movies!!

  • you really dont leave out anything in your reviews, you pretty much tell the entire story.

If someone hasn't seen the movie, they're not going to after watching your reviews.

  • @GrapplerMaster No, they'll still watch the movies. Hearing how the movie plays out is entirely different than actually seeing how it plays out. You're completely wrong.

  • @GoongalaGoongala Not "completely". some people can still enjoy a movie no matter how much about the movie they already know, others don't even watch trailers to avoid ANY kind of spoilers.

Be careful with words like that XD

    And remember, Never say never!

  • Love this film!!!

  • this movie is awesome.

  • my parents don't really care for this movie, but I enjoy this movie. It's funny and one thing interesting that I noticed while watching it today was it's funny how Bill Murray's character is really egocentric and an ass, but as he starts to change who he is, that camera guy Larry who seemed nice and what not in the beginning starts to turn into Bill Murray's egocentric character

  • Happy Shut The Fuck Up!

  • happy groundhog day

  • My favorite comedy!! Not to mention the part of Ned Ryerson!! He's so damn funny!!

  • this and the man who knew to little are my favorite bill murry movies

  • I'm watching this movie in class and it's pretty good.

  • 2:53...OK...I had the exact same idea. By the way, the creators of the movie elaborate that the main character of the movie goes through this cycle for around 10 years meaning that he has made roughly 3,650 different timelines. Speaking of timelines, for the LoZ timelines I happen to be a splittist which is why I thought in that way.

  • It gets better with every viewing.

  • Watch this movie every chance I get, my favorite.

  • This is truly one of the most brilliant movies ever made. And you KNOW there's some social commentary going on here, symbolizing our mundane, everyman life, and how every single day might as well be the same day over and over again. I love it!

  • Bambi celebrates Groundhog Day in Bambi 2. Now that is hilarious.

  • i watched this movie yesteday at 8:00 PM. OOPS i forgot yesterday was the same day as today that means i'm gonna watch it again and again and again

  • FUCK THIS MOVIE!...in this sense

Yes it's a fantastic movie, but I live in Punxsutawney PA, they play it every year all day on Groundhog Day....and....it's Groundhog Day 10,000 people do wait out in the freezing cold over night to worship a rodent,I even did a college paper on the history and called it a cult

It's love hate for me, Movie wise it's great, even though it was filmed in Illinois they still put some things in there that actually are a part of the town. But it's Punxsutawney...fuck.

  • @Clayvman07 Damn. I first saw this movie when I was 10 back during a summer brake with my cousins in Mexico. Saw it back again after 15 years and I thought was funny. But telling me that these people are actually for reals in PA is just fucking hilarious.

  • @Clayvman07 I'll agree with you. I know a bunch of people that live in Punxsy or in areas around there (Brookville specifically) and Punxsy really is a shithole.

  • @Clayvman07 Ha well I live a couple of towns away from Woodstock, Illinois where this entire movie was filmed, the town makes you feel like your in the damn movie! It's kinda all they got...lol. Just like the movie they do the same ceremony every groundhog day, its lame but for some reason I kinda like it.

  • @snowboardman420 I live in punxsutawney where this movie was suppose to be filmed they wanted to change some of the store fronts and the fucking people in charge wouldn't let them so they filmed it in IL

  • Phil actually explain in one scene that he could stay up all to 5:59 but then on the 6:00 he is back in the bed and the day repeats again.

  • What about Bob?Ha Ha get it? Fuck you you guys

  • FUN FACT: the writers of "Groundhog Day" say that Bill Murray's character repeated the same day for 10 years.

  • @MrMoneyclips TEN FUCKIN' GODDAMN YEARS

  • I dont know if this is in the clips yet, but I love it when he jumps off the building, then wakes up lol

  • LISTEN TO JAMES THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BILL MURRAY MOVIES OF ALL TIME WATCH IT!! FRICKING WATCH IT

  • i watched the movie right after i saw ths, and i fucking loved it. I laughed, I cried, and learned an important life lesson. I highly recommend it.

  • Can you review Osmosis jones? That has Bill Murey in it and it's the first movie I saw him in, and I love it to this day

  • Comment removed

  • one of my favorite movies; whether its acting or basketball Bill Murray is the man

  • MAN.... He Hates that clock! 2:00-2:05 & 3:09-3:12

  • that alarm is loud andanoying

  • would anybody mind telling what exactly groundhog day is, i live in britain so i don't actually celebrate it, but i'd still like to know.

  • Comment removed

  • @THEGAMEGOD7777 I should clarify this a bit. The deal is that if the groundhog casts a visible shadow and then lays eyes on it, that is supposed to signal an early spring and I think a plentiful harvest, though the harvest part has largely fallen by the wayside. So, shadow: six weeks until spring. No shadow: early spring. But as I said before, they always have to say there's a shadow even when there clearly isn't. It's a big deal for rural Pennsylvanians. They hold a fair and all kinds of crap.

  • @THEGAMEGOD7777 Groundhogs day is February 2 .... You know you could have google that question.

  • i like the video game vids better

  • I feel like Im in groundhog day. Always checking to see if the nerd has any new releases LOLZ

  • this movie is on tv a lot lately but I would just watch a couple minutes and stop. it seemed painfully average, but now that i get the plot Im gonna give it a try.

  • A great Bill Murray film to watch when it's February 2nd aka Groundhog's Day

  • i love this movie its fuckin awesome :)

  • yeaaa i love this movie!

  • and a lot of movies and series copy that repeat.

Like x-files (awesome) or supernatural (great!) and many more.

or wait, was x-files before the movie? i don't know

  • i loved this movie when i was a kid and still love it today

  • That is one the greatest movies of all times, I have seen it SO MANY times!

  • Maybe I'm the only one... but after watching this movie about 8 times I began to think the black bartender knew what was happening to Phil and was "in on the joke" so to say.

  • My favorite part of the entire movie is the piano lesson scene when the teacher asks Bill Muray's character if it was his first lesson and he responds "no but my dad was a piano mover."

  • Im seeing this movie right now its awesome and great

  • i was on my bus from school<going home, and i saw this plack nailed to a side of a building (remember, this is a very VERY small town) i read the plack and it says "Groundhog day was filmed here...

this BLEW MY MIND I LIVE IN WOODSTOCK ILLINOIS

  • Uhh, what happens if Phil stays awake past 6AM?

  • @SilverSinspawn it still starts over. it happened on the DVD

  • it like playing though Zelda: Majora's Mask except you only have a single day to finish.

  • I loved this movie, never knew it;s name, thanks nerd.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix Your kidding right? This is one of the funniest movies ever. And anyways, hate is such a strong word.

  • Comment removed

  • @AnimeMetalFan1 your right

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix then why the hell did you watch this review dumass

  • i loved this movie it was good watched it MANY times

  • Has anyone watched endless eight?

It's the greatest thing ever, people say that it's the same thing in all eight episodes, but no, it's much more then that, they are saying that most animes are like that, same thing in each episode.

  • @DYLZAL I have not but now i will watch it. :)

  • @DYLZAL

    ill give it a try

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE BUT COULDN'T REMEMBER THE NAME! Thanks dude, this movie totally rocks!

  • How does this movie end? Good or he lives in this day 4 ever?

  • @leadfarmer4u When he starts being good he lives tommorow

  • not many people know about the missing plot at the beggining

  • Garbage Day!!!

  • I watched this for a Philosophy and Religion in Film class.

  • You know he spends 10,000 years stuck in the time loop.

  • @VanNicky75 cool story bro

  • @VanNicky7 12,403 days at least

  • Def one of my favorite movies. I can watch this everyday and never get bored of it. Bill Murray is awesome!

  • Still one of my favorite comedies of all time... same thing with, "What about Bob?"

Both movies exhibit such satire mixed with an "avant garde" type of comedy, that Murray (and Dreyfuss) play the roles to a "T".

Did I mention Jaws is another all time favorite? I swear it's not a Dreyfuss thing... honestly.

  • it shows what happens if he stays up all night he just wakes up in the morning again.

  • repeating time. endless 8. Oh god no

  • If you like Bill watch Zombieland.

  • WHat if the Groundhog sees the car before I hit him with it at 75 miles an hour. Will i get to drive for 6 more weeks?

  • its like how kenny keeps coming back to life in every south park episode

  • My mom hates this movie

  • @Ozztastic57 i hate your mom because she hates this.

  • I always thought that when he turned nice, I guess he figured out that maybe if he wasn't an ass, he might get out of it.

  • I watched groundhog day and it was great. On groundhog day this year I didnt go to school because of really bad weather and on Encore they had a 24 hour marathon of Groundhog day and I remeber every line to this day and I kinda feel like phil and when I watch it I say his famous line.

  • Comment removed

  • was filmed punkassatowney, IL otherwise kniwn as woodstock, IL

  • NED?!?!? *punch*

  • The movie had a scene in the script where bills ex girlfriend curses him but it was left out of the movie

  • 10,000 years passed for Bill Murray's character.

  • i love the times he destroys his alarm clock. who hasn't done that at least once ;D

  • A favorite film of mine; very existential in an innocent way.

  • 200th video he's put up

  • In the original script there actually WAS an evil curse, placed on Phil by a vengeful girlfriend. I've never been so happy that something was cut from a film as when I heard that.

  • About your wondering what would happen if he didn't go to bed... he killed himself several times and got "reset" to the bed, also spent a night in jail...

  • I had the same idea about the alternate universes. Pretty creepy to think there's like a dozen Bill Murrary corpses moldering in the dimensions where he killed himself!

  • kinda like killing spree.

  • looks like it isn't this groundhogs.

    day

    puts on glasses and screams.

  • ok beside the weird things what james noticed I realy don't understand one thing, why this movie is called groundhog day if the movie goes about somebody who is stuck in 1 day that repeat over and over again

  • @dragongame2 it happens on groundhogs day which is repeated.

  • @perfecttrunks2000 well repeatman sound great too as a title, right?

  • @dragongame2 lol maybe for a japanese dubbed version of this movie LOL. as in good example of Engrish.

  • I would probably go insane if I woke up to sonny and Cher every day

  • There are people that haven't seen this movie?... Weird

  • I loved the part where he's dressed as a zombie and they shoot him

    by mistake! it's hilarious!

  • @TapasBarAmsterdam zombieland

  • This was a great movie. I didn't realize this was a Harold Ramis film. He's really more brilliant as a director than I give him credit for.

  • where i live

there are usually 3 more months of winter

so no one gives a crap about groundhogs day here

    but the movie is sweet

  • my fav part in the movie is when he saves the old man everyday. that realy warmed my heart

  • I want to see this. BADLY. I am a Bill Murray fan.

  • If you like Groundhog Day you should give the short-lived tv series "Day Break" a try. Taye Diggs stars as an undercover narcotics detective with the LAPD. He realizes he is being framed for the murder of a man he did not know and tries to prove his innocence. It turns out as well he is stuck in a never ending time loop for unknown reasons until he uses the repeating day to help him on his mission to expose the conspiracy and those putting him and his family in jeopardy.

  • reminds me of Majora's mask

  • @DoggieDevil88

    Holy crap me too!

  • I like doing the bad things, but it would suck if the day you decide to do criminal stuff is the day in which it doesn't start over.

Then the rest of your life is screwed and you really would be living a nightmare each day.

  • @dfrutled

    My thoughts exactly.

  • nice one.

  • this episode reminds me of that one episode of supernatural where somewhat similiar stuff happened with a timeloop.. anyone know what i'm talking about? :s

  • Watched this movie when it came on TV here. It was a really awesome flick, i always thought that the timeloop stopped because Murray stopped acting like a "jerk" and started acting kindly.

  • Hey, I've seen this movie, yeah, but not from the beginning!

However, it's a great movie, I hope that one day I'll be able to watch the full movie!

  • I couldn't agree more, excellent movie.

  • Oh this ought to be a good one.

  • I would argue that this flick is science fiction, just with no explicit reasons for the situation.

  • I would rape cheryl cole every day!

  • Definitely one of my favorite Bill Murray movies

  • How is everyone missing this? The entire movie is based on the 5 stages of grief (when dying). Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. The denial and anger parts are obvious. The bargaining when he tries to take advantage of his situation to cope with it. Depression is pretty evident when you drive yourself and a groundhog off a cliff (don't drive angry), and finally acceptance when he comes to accept his new life, which also when the loop breaks and the old Phil "dies".

  • @brynj13 Nice interpretation! Certainly makes sense.

  • @brynj13 no actually. it was a deleted scene but according to the script Bill Murray was cursed by an ex-girlfreind to live the same day over and over and over again. why does she do this? Becasue Bill Murray was an asshole and she wanted to get back at him. This is true. Look it up

  • @brynj13 Wrong: If he went to accept his new, eternal life, then he wouldn't have made all those changes so the new day could come.

  • What if this could actually happen? What would you do?

  • I think I've seen this move as many times as Phil relived Groundhog Day...LOL XD

  • I agree, this might be Bill Murray's best movie. it's one of my all time favorites.

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid xD

my entire family talked about this movie for days :3

  • You should do a film location video on this film. Most of the shots happen in a small town called Woodstock, Illinois. I actually went there last year. Not much has changed, and you can actually find the B&B that Phil stays at outside the town square (its still a B&B). It's even got a plaque dedicated to the film.

  • I saw this review thinking this was one of those 'ok' movies. Well i found the Tape of it, and luckly found my VHS player. I Watched the movie and its Amazing, Everything James said is true.

  • Great film!

  • I watched that movie when I was about 14 or something and I fucking loved it and especially the fact that it didn't explain why it was happening, the movie just didn't seem to need it.

I think my favorite movies are these kinds of cool wormhole timejumping movies (and also the psychological thrillers when the protagonist can't define real from the world they're in)

  • Man I swear this movie is gets better each time I watch it!

  • if he didnt go to sleep he would be forced into the next day by the ALL KNOWING or whatever such as a car crash or something

  • If i whas in the same situation i woud not go to sleep i woud stay up until 6 in the morning and see what happends.

  • I wanna drink some Rolling Rock with The Nerd and Motherfucker Mike and play some shitty NES games. Sounds like good times! We'll even let the nostalgia critic and his brother Rob play, then we'll kick their asses!

  • I grew up about 20 miles from where most of this movie was filimed (shot in Woodstock, Illinois). To this day it's still a great movie.

  • The part where he tries to save the old street bum and he dies anyways always depressed me.

  • @QuasarEE me too.

  • @QuasarEE I the same way as well ever time i see it i cry

  • @QuasarEE

Thumb up Thumb up Thumb up Thumb up Thumb up Thumb up

    I totally agree. sniff.

  • Wasn't a bad movie, drags on a lot though.

    Best to watch when drunk.

  • I never really looked too much into this movie and I had no idea what it was about, but I guess I'll have to go check it out now :D
