The woman was played by Donna Douglas who is best known as Ellie Mae Clampett in "The Beverly Hillbillies". I saw the episode for the first time the other night on my season 2 DVD set. Definitely one of my favorites so far.

This was the "Eye of The Beholder" I saw first. When I checked the credits and saw this one was "written by Rod Serling," I was confused. Wait, isn't "Mr. Zone" himself gone? Aren't his "Twilight" days over? Hadn't he left the Earth?

Then... I found out it was a re-make. For the revision of the show... UPN was reviving some of the original episodes.

I enjoyed it, as this was the first "Eye of the Beholder" one I ever saw. And even though it feels dated... this is still an important message.

I can't believe they shot this in the same OBVIOUS way as the original. They could have gone about hiding people's faces in other ways: the staff can all be wearing surgical masks in an intensive care unit, the staff faces can be seen blurry and dark from patient 307's perspective through a thin bandage layer over her eyes, very rushed staff faces go by in a blur due to hospital business, etc. This format makes the ending so obvious.

We all knew Darth Vader would die at the end of The Return of the Jedi, yet somehow we all watched the damned movie. And I'm sure nobody was shocked Frodo got that One Ring in the volcano at the end. The plot isn't the point: the lessons along the way are.
