No one should be killed for their believes? "“We sent a message out on our Free Libya radio that any pro-Gadhafi forces with guns, or those found disrupting the revolution, will be shot on sight,” said one press representative for the council. Others deny this claim. But there is a concerted effort to wipe Benghazi clean of pro-Gadhafi elements. Under cover of darkness, squads are dispatched on nightly “crackdowns” on potential regime collaborators."
Peacefup protests never happened from day one prisoners were executed with claims that they were mercenaries, Al JAzeera 18th of Feb Interview: "The protesters in Al Bayda have been able to seize control of the military airbase in the city and have executed 50 African mercenaries and 2 Libyan conspirators. Even in Darnah today, a number of conspirators were executed, they were locked up in the holding cells of a police station because they resisted, and some died burning inside the building."
Human Rights Watch says it has seen no evidence of mercenaries being used in eastern Libya. This contradicts widespread earlier reports in the international media that African soldiers had been flown in to fight rebels in the region. Bouckaert, told RNW that he had been to Al Bayda after receiving reports that 156 mercenaries had been arrested there.
What he found there were, in fact, 156 soldiers from the south of Libya and not from another African country.
A Turkish oil worker account to NPR: "We left behind our friends from Chad. We left behind their bodies," he said. "We had 70 or 80 people from Chad working for our company. They cut them dead with pruning shears and axes, attacking them, saying you're providing troops for Gadhafi. The Sudanese, the Chadians were massacred. We saw it ourselves."
NYTIMES: As the rebels searched cars at the city’s northeastern checkpoint and the fighting continued, they dragged a man from a vehicle, rushed him to the far shoulder of the road and shot him. The man’s capture, and his hasty burial, could be seen through binoculars from a few hundred yards away, though the execution was not visible because the crowd around the prisoner was too thick.
Journalists who tried to interview the executioners were chased away by gunfire .
