I love that guy, he's amazing! All those little children don't see him, they only have eye for Elmo. That shows his incredible skills in puppeteering. The fact that Elmo is the most adorable thing ever also helps haha.
@mizsay what an odd but perfectly relevant analogy. That's seriously right on the money, but who would look at those 4 guys and see the comparison? Genuinely lol'd.
Sesame Street. And especially Elmo, is something i want my children to grow up watching. Elmo is a brilliant, furry, little monster that shows 100% love in his own way.
I used to think I didn't like the character of Elmo. Probably because I grew up with Big Bird, Grover, Bert and Ernie and the fact that Elmo is used as a corporate cash cow. But watching this, you forget all of that. You see the purity of Elmo and the purity of his performer. I almost hated myself for ever saying I didn't like Elmo.
@Basssinger86 thank you so much for saying that! Pretty much how I felt, especially with the Tickle Me Elmo crazy fad... but seeing Kevin Clash doing talk show interviews the last few years, and now this documentary trailer, reminds me it's an expression of a child-like artist FIRST, the corporate cashing in is just a side effect of our modern era :(
I REALLY hope this not only gets nominated for an Academy Award, but also wins it!!!
Saw it with a sold out audience in the Spring (at a large theater)...the ENTIRE time I heard (and felt) nothing but laughter and tears..but balanced perfectly.
As an adult, it made me believe in magic more than I was a kid. How you can take a lifeless furry puppet, and watch it give smiles and happiness to the entire world. It was truly incredible and I've been wanting to see it again with friends.
Saw at the end of Spring...definitely the best documentary of the year...actually the best in years.
The sold out audience (mainly adults by the way) were laughing and A LOT of crying. Not from sadness, just from celebrating the human soul basically. Seeing how one furry red puppet can change lives and create smiles across the World is thrilling enough.
Two dislikes had to have come from Oscar the Grouch and Bert. The third dislike came from Amazing Mumford who tried to magically click "like" but messed up.
Elmo has always been a big part of my childhood. He had to be my favorite muppet as a child. And it takes real talent to make a puppet come to life like that.
It’s great to see films like this. Seeing other people that are passionate about something makes me hopeful for the future. The entertainment industry needs more people like that. This makes me think of the project from director Jeff Warrick, Programming the Nation? The documentary gave Jeff the opportunity to look behind the curtain of media subliminal messaging and it seems to be a film we can all benefit from, bitly .com/oQ0ZVk.
This looks like an excellent movie. I am really looking forward to seeing it. A feel good movie for the entire family. And no, I don't work for any of the companies that made the movie, nor did I get paid to write that.
This video has been selected by the channel as one of the best videos on YouTube and was added to the channel's playlist accordingly. Thanks for sharing.
I saw Kevin Clash with Elmo at a lecture a few years ago. When he performed, I forgot that a man was holding up that red monster. The magic of puppetry, i'll tell ya.
I had no idea that Elmo was "brought to life" by a big guy. No matter how much Elmos voice can drive me crazy at times, I still have to love him because he is sweet & innocent.
I can kinda relate to this in some way. Even though I want to work in animation I did get picked on for drawing all the time. People said that trying to work on kids TV shows/movies wasn't a smart idea. It's things like this that make you want to keep up with your goal of a dream job, because it doesn't matter what the world thinks, as corny as it is, you should try and make a living out of something you enjoy. You never know you can unless you try.
@SillyStell I've looked at your videos, the only important thing you need to focus on is characterization, once you have that down everything else will fall into place, characterization is EVERYTHING
@SillyStell wasn't so much a comment on your videos they just gave me an idea of where you were at, more a general observation and piece of advice. I'm no expert but like to think I know my stuff when it comes to filmmaking and screenwriting. I did a course at the Disney institute when I was younger and we studied the eyes in the lady and the tramp spaghetti scene as well as a few other things. As I said I really do believe characterization is EVERYTHING study with that in mind and youll go far
this is funny and awkward i was at a park and i went into the womens restroom and elmo was in there!!!! i was like wow but then i got my picture taken with him
Oh my goodness... I just realized that the characters from this show were being controlled by humans..... I'm nearly 20 and I never even thought,"Hm, wonder who does the voice of such and such..." I just.... took them as for real.... and never second guessed it. Just goes to show how magical this is.
I really hate that people are so suprised by Elmo being voiced by a black man. It doesn't matter who he's voiced by, as long as we enjoy and the puppeteer enjoys what he does. This looks like a very inspiring movie.

I never realized how much Kevin Clash was a part of my childhood. I am too old for his Elmo, but he did puppet and voice work on "The Great Space Coaster". A show I watched every morning in the very early 80's. He also did The voice and puppet work for "Splinter" in The 1990 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". It was only recently that I discovered he was also Elmo.
It's great to see the real man finally get the credit and recognition that he deserves.
WOW he was Master Splinter .. How I have Elmo saying .. .Death comes for us all, Oroku Saki, but something much worse comes for you. For when you die, it will be ..Without honor.
@Torus202 He was also the voice of the baby Dinosaur on that show about the Dinosaurs. Along with Sally Struthers who was the voice of the mother. lol It ran for a couple of seasons on ABC. lol
@Torus202 Yeah! To bad it's not on DVD cuz I thought that show was funny esp the baby with the dad. I glad he got another job to make a name for himself. lol
