I would surmise it's no more damaging than when a person grabs it , pulls it off the tree and drops it in a basket. It's not like people are soft and gentle when working the fields. Robots at least can be programmed to be soft and gentle...all the time. And they don't need breaks. lol.
Will the suction from the robot damage the fruit? The vacuum has to be powerful enough to not drop the fruit but so strong that it damages the fruit. Perhaps, a hand would be better for grasping the fruit.
How is the fruit deposited into crates? If the robot drops the fruit it could cause damage.
Wish the saw had a t0 n fro movement.
