Terry Ugly should not have won. 1982 was an unusual year for beauty pageants. Miss Universe was a disaster (Guam-Italy-USA) the thriller combo. South Africa was robbed. Canada, Greece, Brazil, England were the most beautiful delegates after South Africa. Texas should has won Miss USA 1982.
LOVE Bob Barker... he treated Terri just like she was a contesant on the PIR... he should come back as host... the pageant did better with an older, distinguished, classy host ... didn't Bob Hope host one of these once? Well anyway..... a very different pageant from a long time ago... better than today's definitely

Before you know it Miss USA ,MISS UNIVERSE & MISS TEEN USA will all end up like MISS AMERICA on Cable. But where as Miss America is on CMT .The Miss USA,Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA pageants will end up on a network that they rightly deserve HBO
I remember watching the pageant that night and my sister and i had Terri picked out in the Parade of States , when Terri made top 12 we were rooting for Terri all the way. After Terri Made top five finalist we knew she was going to win the pageant after her final question Terri Utley was my favorite Miss USA of All times
I agree. Bob Barker was in a class by himself. His delivery was always spontaneous even though I'm sure he was reading off of cue cards. What a natural! Pageant hosts learn from this master.
Bob Barker was such the most gracious host. He did such a wonderful job. I think all emcees should be required to watch some of these videos to learn how he hosted the pageant! Today, they are so cold and stiff and you can tell they have no idea what they are doing. They always sound like they're reading que cards for everything they say.

Terri's comment about what she did in AR for fun nailed the crown to her head. She was 12th of 12 but worked her way to the top!
