  • haha this is hilarious, none of those ideas were controversial; it's good to walk rather than waste oil, we need more exercise these days!

  • Yeah, Kathy Dahlkemper is wacky...that's why she's GOING TO WASHINGTON and Phil English is GOING HOME!

  • Haha wow. The republican party just doesn't understand the world we live in does it. Yeah lets all drive for every trip within 2 miles, better yet, lets all drive down the block to visit a neighbor too. That will make America self reliant. What a joke. I can't believe this ad is real.

  • How are walking and cycling "sacrifices"? Actually USING your legs? OMFG!!1! Compare this "sacrifice" with the sacrifice of owning a car - the sacrifice of thousands of $ per year, the sacrifice of environment, the sacrifice of domestic energy, the sacrifice of health, the sacrifice of 40,000+ killed yearly in auto accidents, the sacrifice of our cities, which now revolve entirely around cars, and thanks to WACKY ideas to keep the cars running, the sacrifice of the very things that sustain life.

  • is the NRCC so incredibly dense that they cant even fathom riding a bicycle? "it's that thing ,you know, with wheels, but it requires physical strength to power"

i thought this was a joke when i first saw it but it's actually posted BY THE NRCC!

  • The idiots who made the ad are so out of touch with reality they think Dahlkemper is out of touch with reality.

Drill for oil in Alaska? The oil will hit the US market in 2019 and last 17 months, maybe three years IF oil consumption is halved. That's NOT a long term solution.

Walking and cycling are "crazy ideas"? Only to a moron who believes in creationism sees 100 years of driving as "normal" and 200,000 years of humans walking as "weird". No wonder the RePubicHairs are so fat.

  • God forbid the American people be asked to sacrifice. Funny thing is, biking and walking can be a joy not a sacrifice.

Giving away OUR oil fields to companies that will utilize them only when it profits them to do so, now that's a sacrifice we can't afford.

  • uhhh...he ides are realistic and intelligent. do republicans really have their heads that far up their asses not to see this?

  • Yeah, why should we implement these "whacky" ideas when it makes so much more sense to: continue our disgusting dependence on cars & oil; disregard climate change; continue our dependence on foreign energy; continue the deterioration of our health; continue going in debt to pay for it all; and continue killing 40,000+ yearly with our cars. Let's suspend the gas tax so gas will be cheaper, our infrastructure will deteriorate even faster, and we burn through the oil we have even more quickly!

  • Suggesting us to improve our lifestyle and wellness, while reducing emissions and congestion on the streets? Outrageous! That $28 in savings from the 3 month gas tax suspension could really help me while I'll wait 7 years for offshore drilling to provide a drop of oil.

  • another nail self inserted by the republicans in their own electoral coffin/butt ...

  • It is completely shocking suggest that I should get off of my fat ass and put it onto a bicycle seat. They don't make seats wide enough for me!

  • Oh no walking is evil!

  • This is the worst thing I've ever seen.

  • Yup, if I lived in her district I'd be voting for her too, unless there was a Green candidate..

  • Go Kathy Dahlkemper!

  • Irony: I live in PA and did not realize how good a candidate Kathy was until you made this "smear" ad. Thanks for keeping me informed NRCC!

On a side note: How cool would it be to commute by dog sled?

  • I seriously cannot understand this. This is not a joke? This is an actual ad intended to make the candidate look bad, rather than showcasing her good ideas?

  • Kathy Dahlkemper sounds like a great candidate! I hope she wins.

  • I agree with Kathy Dahlkemper

  • The fact that republicans think walking places and using bicycles when possible is as irrational as dogsleds just shows how out of touch with average Americans they are. Americans are starting to walk and bicycle places when they can.

  • Yay Kathy Dahlkemper! Hope she wins.

  • What I think is wacky is that somebody thought this ad was a good idea. Really, Republicans this is the best thing you could come up with? Oh how you never fail to disappoint and amaze me all at once.

  • Hahahahaha! Walking and biking is soooo "wacky!" The republicans never fail to amuse me!

  • I don't know much about Dahlkemper's views, (which determine how she would vote in Congress and what kind of bills she might author) but after watching these ads by English I am leaning towards her. This is classic fearmongering, saying "Oh my God, what will we do if she makes us run the Iditerod?" Instead of telling us what Phil English would do to make our Federal Government better.

  • Ms. Dahlkemper's ideas are only "wacky" if you're an oil baron or good ol' boy more concerned with fattening your bankroll than actually helping the Earth and its people.

  • Forget the world. Let's be selfish until we are all dead. Paid for by the stupidity of Republicans. Why take personal responsibility for anything? Make bad loans. Who cares? Deregulate business, so they can cheat everyone. Who cares? Hurt the economy with stupid policies? Who cares? Republicans are morons and that is coming from an independent.

  • Is this ad a joke? Or are they just implying that Americans are too fat and lazy to get out of their cars and walk or ride a bike? I'm sure this ad would go unnoticed in Jesusland, er, the South.

  • It should be called the "buybull suspenders" instead of "buybull belt" because most are too fat to wear a belt.

  • God forbid that a politician ever suggest that American's should start consuming less (oil, electricity, food, water, space, paper, etc...). That might put us in-line with other developed nations, you know, the ones that have health-care, good paying jobs, national security, more lesiure and less debt. Why would we want that?

We should continue to consume as much as possible and let our kids pay for it in the future.

  • This is ad just makes me hope Dahlkemper gets elected. It's good to see some intelligent, progressive people running for election. Didn't McCain already try peddling the whole Gas Tax BS earlier this year to no success? Is drilling the only answer that Republicans have these days?

  • She'd have my vote. If more "hockey moms" put thier kids on bikes and "Joesixpack" got off there asses and walked someplace they'd probably live longer, happier, healtier lives even if it didn't save a drop of gas.

  • That doesn't seem very wacky to me. Walking and biking is totally reasonable.

  • I thought part of Conservative ideology was 'personal responsibility.' This ad takes shots at personal responsibility. Seems the Republican party isn't only out of touch with the majority of the population, but even with its own principles.

  • walking and riding bikes short distances is an excellent solution. might help the obesity rate too.

  • These ads are out of touch. You gotta work smarter, NRCC.

  • What are you talking about, dope? I'm a Republican. But if you try to peddle an ad saying that riding a bike to work is 'wacky', a lot of voters from both parties will wonder what is so strange about it. This ad make the Republican party look anti-bicycle, which is a dumb position to take.

  • Sacrifices like growing approximately 40% of the nation's produce supply in backyard "victory gardens," rationing gas, or enacting periodic blackouts during World War II?

(But that was different! That was "for the troops" so it would have been positively un-American to not support something like that, right? )

It's amazing what the people of this nation can do when properly motivated.

  • US government average estimate of Alaskan oil: 10.4 billion barrels

US government maximum estimate: 17 billion

Current US oil consumption: 21 million barrels per day

*IF* the US cuts its consumption in half to 10 million *AND* there really are 17 billion barrels of oil, that means Alaska has 1700 days of oil, or *FOUR* years at most. And it will take *TEN* years for the oil to reach the market.

JerkoffBlues, you really are that stupid, aren't you?
