it's not actually armando ianucci that writes all the creative swearing parts in TTOI, it's another guy who appears under 'additional material' in the credits. sam.. something. i think
Yes, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong. Who are also the lead writers of Peep Show, and are apparently co-writing Chris Morris' new film with him. Those guys have their fingers in a lot of pies at the moment, which is fine with me as they are fantastic comedy writers.
additional material provided by the cast. chris addison and chris langham definitely did. i don't think rebecca front did when she came in. james smith i dunno... peter capaldi probably threw a few lines into the hat
@HomebrandMusic01 Yes, the writers used to do the script and then send it to their "swearing consultant" up north, Ian Martin. I think they brought him in as a proper writer in the last series. But I'm sure Armando and the others have their sweary contributions, and there's all the improv by the actors too.
I knew my English Language A Level would come in handy one day ;-) Absolutely - it's wonderful, that final tripartite 'can't pick up shit, can't throw shit, can't do shit' is the piece de resistence :-) Almost as good as Capaldi's fricative scattergun approach with 'fuck' ;-)
or "i say we go for a carrot and stick approach....get a carrot, and stick it up his arse, followed by the stick, followed by a bigger, rougher carrot."
wait, this was a 'great swears of our time' clip, WITH malcolm fucking Tucker in it,
where the alleged 'great swear'
was not
by malcolm fucking tucker? It makes no sense.

Great scene! It's not just the swearing but the creativity of the insults, like Hugh as:
"the politicial equivalent of the house wine at a suburban indian restaurant"
Gold.

Great swearing, Iannuci can do the highly imaginative lurid stuff but Glenn's peice there he just works with the fricative impact of shit, repeated.

nice. i still prefer the simple "fuckity bye"
or "i say we go for a carrot and stick approach....get a carrot, and stick it up his arse, followed by the stick, followed by a bigger, rougher carrot."
