wouldnt it be cool if you made a hole in ur Desk and laid the Nest into the hole Flush with the Desk.. a Table Top Ant nest =) im gona do somthing like this =)
@antboy888 as long as i could see them id be fine wether its from the side or not but hey what ever keeps them from escaping dont really see how it would be odd
yeah i tried clay first, but that took along time to set and the plaster wasnt the right consistency, i like the OXO cube idea though. I assume you put your testube in the foraging area - how long did it take for them to adopt the nest as home? did you use anything to cover it (red plastic, or black paper etc.)?
can you make a short vid of your ant nest that will be cool and you have made the best ant nest vid so far you show a lot of detail and thats great thanks again and nice TAT!
can you make a vidio of the ant nest now and how it is doing pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssseeeee!!! ill be yor best frend
Nice! I thought you were kinda crazy at first pouring it in without the tunnels(in part 1), until you carved it. I use gypsum for my setups and use klay to map out the chambers and tunnels. I like your idea, shall try something similar soon I think. Thanks!
Oops, sorry about that. It's a water reservoir. You add water to keep the nest constantly humid (but no stagnant water, you add only what the nest can absord).
I've captured a queen a year before, and she had eggs (then a colony). All I did was to drop them in the hunting area, and they found the nest all by themselves. You give them food as much that they can consume.

what are u using to ventilate the ant farm? If there is no ventilation it'll mold and the air will become stale.

How did you put the colony inside the aquarium? How do you know they all have enough food?
Do they need particular environment like outdoor light or air or can they be kept in home?
I'd like to build one for my son's class at school. Can i contact you for other suggestions? thanks

Yes, send me a private message anytime.

I'd make a full enclosed society, and then inlay it into my desk.

Or in a table, in the living room.

Also a good idea. Great conversation piece.

yeah, ants are cool.
I'd still put a lid on that aquarium for good measure though, even with the talc.
