I think the main reason many conservatives still defend Bush is because they REALLY dislike liberals. It's "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" mindset. In private, many of them will admit that Bush wasn't that great.
Personally, I'm all over the place politically. I think Bush was way over his head and played to the religious right far too often. I think Obama is way over his head as well. I wouldve much rather had Hillary as president.
