  • Just saw this guy on TV earlier, on the show Stan Lee's Superhumans... apparently medical testing shows that his body is able to clear his lactic.. or rather the lactic doesn't even begin to build up in his body.. amazing stuff... he could run on forever!

  • I love running, I don't run very fast or very far, I run 3.5 miles everyday. It makes me feel upbeat, positive and happy. After a good run I can do anything :)

  • I ran 50 marathons in 56 days last year, best experience of my life! Go Dean go

  • what is the use of punishing your self like that i think 5 km is enough for every 3 days

  • Dean let the American flag touch the ground on Regis. How can a man run all the way across the country and not have the strength to hold up a flag?

  • I just ran with Dean today in Staten Island. Awesome guy. Very Positive. He ran slow to run with as many people as possible.

  • A lot of people want to compare Dean to the top Ultra runners just to bash him. I don't think Dean has ever said he was the best Ultra runner on earth. If he can move people to do things they never thought they could do, that is a great thing. No matter what sport you take up someone will always better, comparing yourself with the best does not make you the best. It actually will discourage you. I think any ultra runner is amazing, just attempting an ultra takes faith and heart.

  • Dean is an amazing individual that does amazing things for everyone around him. Let Dean inspire you next.

  • @starcraftiskool Do not know your resume, but if you were involved in the ultras you would not be saying that. You would know our commitment to Ultrarunning Content & our Endurance and ultra racing resume. Also, you would know that Pam Reed is in the film, a friend and credited. Furthermore, Dean does his own thing, he is far from the greatest UltraRunner, but he has found a way to boil it down into stories that inspire people to run. No more, no less. Thanks for watching & for your comment.

  • @starcraftiskool Yeah. It's Pam Reed.

  • @starcraftiskool your an asshole. PERIOD. What purpose do you serve. Go fuck yourself you jack wagon. You've never brought any attention to any charity or we would know you. We dont.

  • @starcraftiskool your an asshole. PERIOD. What purpose do you serve. Go fuck yourself you jack wagon. You've never brought any attention to any charity or we would know you. We dont.

  • @jdfales oh im sorry...im not a saint like dean karnazes. and yes, EVERYONE in the world who brings attention to charity is famous! of course!!! :)

i heard dean just won the over 40 category of the running with 2 legs division in a blue tshirt in 50 states sat the same time. tough competition this year!!

  • @starcraftiskool

I am reading his book and he is amazing!

So inspiring to watch him and read about him!

I\m sure he is a very special person.

  • @starcraftiskool I agree with journeyfilm. Dean is not the greatest, merely one of the best. He does what others only wish they could.

  • I love Dean but his shorts ARE too short.

  • unlike alot of main stream runners, dean seems like a real down to earth person...

  • Dean is a great role model! He has inspired me to take up running.

  • i live in Greece,i am a friend of Yiannis Kouros-a really one of a kind person in every aspect-but i contact with Dean by email before running an y ultra. He was my insoiration,at least in 2007 in my first 24 hour run when he sent me his t-shirt from the Nevada marathon with number 20in the back. That year i run for the boy in 3;44.He is not Kouros, noone could ,but its a great man.Its also Greek.

  • I find it disturbing that so many people despise a person for trying to inspire others and do what they love. There is too much hate in this world. I imagine it all stems from jealousy. He is what they want to be and cannot be because they do not have the drive and determination.

  • I just finished his book :)

He's so amazing, and SUCH a nice guy.

I'm only 14 and on a cross country team, he has inspired me beyond belief :)

    Dean Karnazes ♥

  • Run, Forest...

  • Need to marry you **busizz4me.info**

  • dean isn't actually a human, he was designed by a company in japan in the 80's.

  • @Alternativerealm is that why he's the slowest ass runner ever? he's actually hated by all real ultra-runners because he isn't worth shit but gets all the credit.

  • Can he beat the best of the Mexican Tarahumaras, who "don't get warmed up till they've run at least 50 miles nonstop?"

  • 9 ppl missed the like button....

  • I found out on the History channel that Dean Karnazes is actually biologically different from other people. When he runs, lactic acid does not build up in his blood like it does with normal people, and instead decreases. Lactic acid causes you to physically be able to run no more if enough of it builds up, but Dean doesn't have these limitations, so basically he could run forever if he was super motivated.

  • He has run 350 mi.w/out stopping

  • wow....I am impress very impress ..the most I every ran in a is 14 miles...and that was a killer.

  • @redhead...He could top that with a 1v1 vs PO3 David Goggins!!!!!

  • That kid said "On your mart!"

  • Amazing how many people he seems to influence positively. Really amazing. Hurray for him.

  • what the average minutes per kilometer ?

  • 50 marathons in 50 days in 50 states.. whats next, seriously lol.

     How could he top that?

  • when will we be able to purchase disc 2 from this movie?

  • Is Disc 2 of the Ultramarathon Man Soundtrack out yet?

  • this movie is so insparational

  • In America when the sun goes down and I run

across the old broken down river pier watching the longlong skies over New Jersey and sense all that raw land that rolls in one unbelievable huge bulge over to the West Coast, all that road going, and all the runners dreaming in the immensity of it and nobody knows what's going to happen to anybody besides the forlorn rags of growing old I think of Dean Karnazes, I even think of Old Dean Karnazes the father we never found, I think of Dean Karnazes.

  • @RANGERSTRIDER1

    well written. love it.

  • Muito bom mesmo Dean. A sua capacidade de suportar a fadiga e sua rápida recuperação no período de uma prova para outra é algo incomum nos seres humanos.Parabéns.

  • Bravo, KARNO. WOW.

    THANK YOU.

  • Parabéns Dean nos aqui no Brasil estamos contagiados com suas conquistas, Nada que um dia de corrida nao cure. Guto Rabelo - Brazil

  • just inspiring how this guy runs!

and not only this! it's even more inspiring his thoughts, the way he thinks about life, what a legend! what a huge heart he seems to have!

  • Awesome. Simply AWESOME ! After reading his book , I rediscovered running and working out.........Thanks Marathon Man ! You saved my life !

  • Why the FUCK is this video rated 2 stars?

  • what is the name of the song at 3:55?? thanks

  • It is called Black Year by the band Blackyear. They just released an album on iTunes, but this song will be on Disc 2 of the UtraMarathon Man Soundtrack which will be available in about a month on iTunes.

  • Desde Jorgito Ramos en el Maratón de Nueva York que no veía un desempeño tan impactante.

  • get off youtube and start running!! :)

  • i met him today at the rock and roll marathon fair at the convention center he is so simple and humble. san diego tomorrow baby!!!!

  • Amazing man + Amazing Things = Out of Reach

Average Man + Amazing Things = Inspirational

  • Nothing is out of reach :)

  • @journeyfilm well said.

  • @tylerks279 Obviously you have what it takes to do better. We'll be looking for your accomplishments on You Tube so we can comment on how much weaker you are. Negative comments like yours only prove who the weak one really is.

  • @tylerks279 Millions of people wish such mediocre people could inspire such a "mediocre" result. The day that running 50 marathons in 50 days become something less than difficult is the day I hang up my hopes for ever doing anything.

  • I could not have said it better myself ameribull.

    Great video.

  • total respect.

    SUCH STRENGTH OF WILL

    shalom

  • great work JB!

  • The best team of one. What a cool guy.

  • Dean is the man! - and she (00:54) is so cute and being so sincere.

  • Why is there always someone who has to come along and put someone down for a great accomplishment? And you notice its always someone who could never even come close. I guess its what being a loser is all about. Cruise the internet and put down winners. What a world we live in.

  • Comment removed

  • I have met him. He is humble and lovely. I talked to him with 15 other runners for a good 45 minutes before he went on a run with the group. Just about as nice a guy as you could ask for. Someone on this string asked if he has won Badwater. He won in 2004 and placed second in 2003.

  • HOOYAH!!

  • excellent video.. i wanna run along this guy one day!!

  • We are unable to get this film in Malaysian shores, would be nice to have a copy.

  • The film nor Dean, ever claimed to be the first or the best. Being inspirational and being first are mutually exclusive. In fact Sam Thompson is in the film running with Dean. If you think Journeyfilm is an aggressive mass media outlet, you are welcome to come see how we work. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

    Best, JB

  • "there are plenty of ultrarunners way more accomplished than him" -care to name a few? He has run Western States eleven times under 24 hrs., he won Badwater, He won the Vermont 100..man, you don't know what you are talking about!

In addition, nobody (not a single person)trains for ultra distance events by running 26 miles every day (much less 50 days in a row). Even someone with basic knowledge of training knows this.

  • Andy Skurka hiked 6,875 miles over 208 days. His average distance per day was like 35 miles. (It wasn't exactly 200 consecutive days because he took 5 days off in the middle because his grandmother died, but other than that, he went straight through)

I don't think Karnazes has won Badwater (yet), but I am pulling at straws here.

  • @semansco

"care to name a few runners more accomplished" , man you just set yourself up there. SCOTT JUREK, MATT CARPENTER, YIANNIS KOUROS

    Does that satisfy you?

  • @toby099

The question is..Are you more accomplished than him?

  • @semansco AND he also runs a marathon to the south pole. WOW!

  • @semansco Anton Krupicka,Scott Jurek,Kilian Jornet...check them out!

  • quickner22, you look at it from a business man's point of view. Maybe there are some more accomplished ultrarunners, but he wrote the book to inspire people. And if you think it's all about personal profit then you really have missed the point of what runnings really about!

  • @quickener22 Exactly, Dean is a product of big marketing. While fewer people know real talents like Yannis Kouros.

  • Legend, I read the book the guy is a rock.

  • I ran a marathon when I was 16 gonna run a lot more. this guy will motivate me.

  • i've run 2 marathons after reading his book, and i'm only 16

some day, i'm gonna run the western states 100 and i'll earn one of those 24 hour belts!

  • Very very cool. I loved it. Made me want to get off the couch.

  • Looks like a great film... I look forward to watching it!

  • hes a bloody maniac! but an amazing and inspirational one at that. read his book and it inspired me to love running more than i did before. infact, doesn't sound much but i am only 15 and just recovered from injury, i'm running a half-marathon for charity and a marathon next year, we'll see where tht leads.

  • Dean, you're amazing, you've inspired me to run again from your book Ultra Maraton Man.

    Thanks so much.

  • ok, motivador!!!!

  • wot can i say dean you are awsome

  • I ran the SF Marathon in 2006 and homeboy here was runnung whilst talkin on his Palm Treo at Mile 20...

The man has a phenomenal tolerance for pain & fatigue

  • Truly an inspirational man. I got to meet Dean this past Sunday during the San Diego marathon. Saw him at mile 5 and we talked for a few miles. Pretty cool. I went stride for stride with one of the best ultra marathon racers in history! I lost him around mile 16...my legs started to give a bit. But, I still finished in 3:34!

Go Dean!! Thanks for the motivation!!!

  • anyone know any way i can download the music in this video???

  • My husband is in this video! He ran with Dean in Maui, Hawaii. @ 30 sec - 50 sec. Woot woot!

  • Truly an inspiring man. I really hope this film makes it to Australia

  • IT came out a year ago... So, you'll probably have to look a little harder or perhaps order it off of their website if they offer it.

  • (the first song i mean)

  • This is an original score produced by Journeyfilm and composed by Cody Westheimer. It will be available on the film soundtrack.

  • whats the name of the song in this video???

  • Me encanta este hombre, correr es mi pasion.

  • JB...please, please, PLEASE get this movie out there already for the rest of the world to see! DVD, limited release, whatever you have to do. The beautiful soundtrack too.

I saw this movie at the LA premiere and cannot WAIT to show this to my friends. Thanks - keep up the great work!

  • I cant believe the DK haters all he does is run ultra marathons and raise money for sick kids , inspire others to run and i cant see the wrong in what he is trying to do!

  • i agree with you. hating on dean karnazes is bullshit.

  • Dean had nothing to do with this video. I did not know him before I started working on this film, but he is a genuine guy who is out there making a difference for many causes. I also would not call a 16 hour, 100 mile Vermont time too slow. I would imagine one would have to have a pretty impressive resume to throw out comments like this. But regardless, I thank for your thoughts.

    Best,

    JB

  • RUNNN FOREESSTTT RUNNN

  • This is a testament that if you just follow your passion in life, no matter what it is, and pour your heart and soul into it...you WILL inspire others!

  • I wanna join a marathon but i don't know how to join one. Could anybody explain how and help me, i live in Miami? I know where my goal is at. God bless

  • Go to the nearest Barnes and Noble...buy a copy of the magazine "Runner's World", in the back they have a list of marathons all around the world and all year. They will also have programs to show how to train up to a marathon, so it might be in your best interest to get a subscription, knowledge is power. Good luck!

  • 1. get cleared by a doc i.e testing on hearth,

    and 4 other main viens.

    2 get a heath monitor

    3 eat perfect

    4. EASE INTO IT do 1 mile a day 2x a day for a week then 2 miles a day 2x a day do that for

a month. then up it to a 5 mile walk jog

    5. walk 1 mile and a half, jog 1 warm down 1

    6. stretch, warm up meaning walk job, jog never so fast at first warm down

  • 02:04 very good quote

  • This is what Inspires me to keep on running even after 29 years!! Dean..You Rock Bud! Keep it up!

  • Go Dean Karnazes Go Dean Karnazes !

  • what an amazing inspriation. I've been a Karno fan since reading his book, but even this clip manages to inspire me still.

  • Inspiring Story...

In 1996, Terry Hitchcock also did an amazing run in order to bring awareness to the plight of single parent families... he ran 75 consecutive marathons in 75 consecutive days... at the age of 57... please watch our promo trailer called MY RUN on our site... We would appreciate your feedback and rating. thank you!

  • great guy ,great book

  • Living legend!

  • Great job !

    an admirative frenchy

  • Not only does he do 50/50 but in his last one (NYC) he shaves a 1/2 hr off last years time! I run every marathon and long run just thinking if he can I can!

  • I had a great time at #20 at Valley of Fire in NV, it was the best marathon I've ever ran, I wish I could run more with you, but maybe I will catch up with you when you are on your way back to SF.

  • Thank You Dean! I ran # 29 Boston with you and had a blast. Have fun running home!

  • I ran #42 in ClearWater, FL. A lifetime experience I could never have imagined. He did something so big and so important I'm glad i was a part of it.

  • I looked for you at #43 (Marine Corps) but didn't see you. I knew you were there though because they announced that your were running!

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your story.

  • I ran number 44, Kiawah Island SC with him! How lucky am I? It was one of the coolest experiences in my life! Yay Dean!

  • Congratulations Dean!! You're and amazing guy. It's been fun following your journey.
