I glued the feathers (and fur) on to the foam of the puppet with hot melt glue. It seems to have held alright. Although tape might have been stronger.
What did you think of the bird dinosaur, I was going for an evolutionary medium between one of early dinosaurs and a flight-less bird. Pity though all the non-avian dinosaurs are extinct today. If only we could build a time machine and travel 65 million years to bring them back. It would make filming them a lot easily.
Good idea. Unfortunately there are several problems with putting teeth on the bird-dinosaur. One would be that the puppet itself is to small for teeth to be added. Another problem is that the ancestors of birds had no teeth, even though they evolved from dinosaurs, they developed from tooth-less ancestors some time in the early Jurassic.
Thanks for the idea though. I might use it in a future film if I need to make a more primitive bird-dinosaur.
I ended up using material fur for the body and real feathers on the arms. The armature was to simple for any complex rigging systems. Although it didn't get much boiling, I think next time I'll use hair spray to stop it moving.
The bird model is about 10 - 15 cm tall and 10 cm long. The nightmare-a-saurus is about 25 cm tall and 35 cm long.
Yeah it was all green screen (other wise the nightmare-a-saurus wouldn't have fit in the same shot).
I know it's not perfect (the animation is way to fast). Although I did make in an hour so I'm happy how it came out. I think I might have over graded the back ground a bit to much though.
How'd you do this? Where'd you get the models?

I'm thinking of making a sort of dinosaur doco using stop motion and this was a short test for it.

Where those suppose to be oviraptors?
LOPONUMER 2 years ago
No, more like, early evolutionary ground dwelling bird similar to Gastornis. I guess they look a bit like the oviraptors in a way.

Yeah, exept for the tail...

Thanks, (I think), I'm not sure of that phrase, but I assume it's a compliment.

it is, just like saying this is total tits. (also good :D)

those came out great. What did you use to make the feathers?
Medievalfilms 2 years ago 4
For the feathers I used material fur and real feathers on the arms.
I have to agree the green screen did a really good job.

Thanks mujawooja
I think youtube hates my animation. It always makes it look jerky and it gets rid of all the detail I put in it.
TheCyberController 2 years ago
your feathers work really well, not to much boiling, what did you end up using and what scale are your models, 12", 16"? is it green screen too?
