This is a serious problem amongst nursing homes. Just recently heard a story on NPR of a patient with dementia in a florida nursing home leaving the facility into the woods without anyone noticing and ended up being eaten by an alligator. True story. The home was fined, thats all, a little slap on wrist. The quality of care in these homes are horrific and embarrassing.
Sad to say, but I understand the humor in this video. I work at a SNF and when I have to send a patient out to the acute, it always takes me a couple of minutes to earn their trust and explain to them exactly what is going on with the patient. Sad days indeed. Maybe time to move on?
Every time I go to a nursing home this is pretty much the scenario. When the crew arrive we are not the clinicians in charge of the patient, but there are some days you could just tear these so called nurses to shreds because of a total absence of any sort of intervention (even basic) other then "We dressed her and called 999" because we are only ambulance drivers and only give transport to the hospital in the back of our van what do we know This makes me want to be killed in a car crash!!
firemen are the lazest group of ass holes ive ever met. The reality is most firehalls are switching over to volunteer depts in the future.Lots of citys are discovering you don't have to pay people to squirt water on a fire(mindless job)when you can get people to do it for free!!!!
Oh dear God, I weep for my my profession in your country. As a nurse in Australia I am shamed...Just thinking deeply, does "chicken breath" equate to ketone breath?? Or are nurses just stupid there?
Is that what Tony the tiger told you to do when you got your nursing degree? LOL!

Misogynistic as always... I am an ER nurse, and I am sad to say, the weak link in the chain, is these EMT idiots....
Kitabo27 9 months ago
@Kitabo27 as a RN why would you call emt's idiots? Be ethical.

@Kitabo27 Nope. EMTs will always be > Nurses.

The truly scary thing is that all over the country EMS and FD's all have the same experience at nursing homes.

chicken breath is she can't breath said by the nurses in SNFs that don't speak english as a first language
luke31111231342 1 year ago
@bels10- not so much the nurses being stupid as the requirement for a command of the English language to be an RN apparently doesn't exist up here

Sooo flip'n hillarious!!! Two shifts ago the nurse said the pt had "chicken breath" when asked why our altered pt was given nitro!!
Just goes to show how the only difference in the job (city fire/pm asses. Eng co.) is the geographic location!
Keep the creativity going! Love this stuff!
