  • Do I hear shades of a young Jack Nicholson?

  • damn! people in the states have really shitty connections.

  • The repeater is an atot wee atot cause its remote

  • How can you repeat a signal throught the house if you are only using one Directional antenna that is pointing elsewhere LOL

  • @RockTouching There is plenty of off axis low level signal near the antenna for it to work. Some may be reflected. All I can say is it worked fine for me.

  • @vegmatic1966 mmm got it ! I've a similiar setup and i'm getting 1Mbit up and down. I guess thats normal with weak signals..I hope i'm gonna get better throughput with a panel antenna..its 14 db

  • What is the model number of your Trednet access point and what kind of black cable is that connected from the access point to the cantenna?

  • @Aria8611 TEW-430APB This is an older video. Not sure if this model is still in production. New models still should have the same functions. I got the wire from a cheap antenna that came with an ASUS mother board.

  • Free open network ? A hackers playground, exploiting your system ? NO THANK YOU. $50 isn't too much for me to be a little more secure.

    .

  • explain how you did it and where you bought everything please sounds like a great school project!!!

  • Cantenna?

  • will it just repeat a signal at the same strength that is received or will it make the signal stronger?

  • @Redmond91 Repeats on a different WiFi channel. Since it is to be used nearby, signal is stronger but speed is as only as good as the signal it can receive.

  • lol thats ghetto but genius

  • do u live near minneapolis?

  • @McmillanAaron1994 Your a penis.

  • Sew the can use an oil drum

  • @McmillanAaron1994 dude. its pretty much a window. in your roof. you fucking dumbass.

  • Good video im going to have to try that

  • @McmillanAaron1994 The hole was already there and is covered with plexiglass.

  • please need link to can antenna thanks

  • You are nice guy ! Worth spending some time perfecting this technology esp. in our developing countries ; Canntenae is great innovation for limited budgets.

  • it not free if you BUY whatever that blue thing is

  • How do you configure this to the wifi hotspot. Do you just select the one thT you want to be repeated??

  • Hi there, how do you configure it to the wifi hots

  • great but you dont show how to build it

  • 40-50$ Cheap.. lol Not for me

  • @ArmandoMando17 Compared to a monthly bill?

  • @ArmandoMando17 You can actually get one of those TrendNet's for about $20.

  • oh to note to everyone do ot go buy belkin they are crappy and cheaply made

  • hey dude you got a good brand Trendnet makes solid wireless routers

  • Wow!!! My house don't have wifi... Next house have wifi... Have password next house.... How can open password? Help me!! Thanks!

  • i did something similar only i used a linksys WRT54G V1 router flashed with DD-WRT firmware, it does the same thing, but a nice setup man, looks like its pretty solid

  • PLEASE REPLY 'WHAT IS THAT THING CALLED?'.....TRENDNET...

  • Just wondering, is this access point repeating the signal back out the cantenna? I only see 1 antenna. Or maybe an internal antenna?

  • do i have to get a wireless router?

  • Nice

  • very coooool!!! a can antenna plz make a vid on can antenna that would be soooo asome

  • I would just get fiber internet or cable or dsl. If you can't get that there which i know u can cuz u are in a city. I would just get 3G internet. Way faster then "free" WiFi. Or if you are in a city with clear wire WiMax i'd get that or a 4G LTE card from verizon.

  • Comment removed

  • I'd use it as a repeater, then use a LAN cable to go to a ethernet switch down on the first floor.

  • 'haha his antenna if he's running out of water he can use his cans..

    win win situation

  • 40 or 50 bucks aint cheap... all ive got is a dollar.......... now thats cheap

  • Does you're city consist of a family of 5 living next door to you, with an unsucured wirless router?

  • Why not just buy an N router like the D-Link DIR-655 for $79.95

  • hEY 30/MONST! Iss cheapp! Wat i pay around 50$ with 15 wtvr thingy about the speed!

  • whats this items number i tryed looking it up but no luck :(

  • Ppl its called TRENDnet TEW-430APB u can get it at walmart for 50

  • Damn man! $30/mnth for internet to your house is too expensive? How broke do you have to be?

  • Damn man! $30/mnth for internet to your house is too expensive?

  • big hand!!

  • people there are easier ways they have range extender devices you can buy and all and why cant you afford to pay such a cheap price for internet 30 bucks a month is cheap these days

  • hey man!can i make this thing really?

can you give me the name of that router\modem?

    regards

    crazyforlaptops

  • poor lil bastard :) i feel your pain bro, i feel your pain..

  • awsome .. Thats ghetto fabulous ....The best thing to do is using a small satalite dish ... u will get extreme connection ....

  • @cisco760ca-REALLY? I HAVE A OLD INACTIVE "DISH NETWORK" SATELITE, YOU THINK THAT WILL WORK? I USE MY OWN @WORK BUT AT HOME ITS A DRAG...LET ME KNOW OF ANOTHER TIPS, THANKS...

  • hell ya bro.sometimes theres no money for bills, great job

  • or maybe you can scan for networks with your cantenna? and it will show you on the router set up page what is the SSID? Can you explain that more in detail? Or maybe explain with photoes of step by step set up of your router. Thx.

  • I was just wondering, after you have done all the hardware connections, how did you know what SSID to enter into your AP? I have read on the internet, that if you set it up in either bridge mode or repeater mode, you NEED to know the SSID of the WiFi network you are trying to connect. Of course you can walk and search for one that is on your street, but if it is in the other highstory building, then what? My point is: if you set it up as a repeater mode, how do you know what SSID and ip to enter

  • where did u buy this from ? and do u know if its sold in stors ?

  • HOW CAN YOU USE A WIRELESS BELKIN ROUTER AS A REPEATER? AND DOES THIS WORK FOR DESKTOPS?

  • Connectify.me

  • use Connectify.me its easier

  • what would be the easiest antenna to built and how to make it

  • nice job

  • nice idea. I made what I call a wokfi antenna. It's a wok which I calculated the parabolic focal point of. Then I used parachute cord to tie a net on the front of it and rigged a USB wifi dongle on it at the focal point. Then I plugged it into my computer with a 10 foot USB extension cord. It gives me a 12-15db gain which makes a HUGE difference in transfer speeds.

  • Nice one! The wide diameter and parabolic shape will capture lots of signal. It must be pretty directional at such high dbi to help focus through the clutter of wifi networks. If my local wifi signals were any weaker, I'd have to go this route.

  • @vegmatic1966 hey dude ..now i have got a 17 dbi gain antenna ...

    it works well ....

  • did u cut a hole in the back of the can?

  • vegmatic1966, Another point to consider. I like the video.

  • Hey can you tell me the specific model of the router?

    Thanks!

  • Hey can you tell me the specific model of the router?

    Thanks!

  • crazy red necks

  • Cheap as in $99 a month?

  • Great idea! And very clever also!

But try a better antenna( like biquads for example). Or dipole with a parabolic reflector. I tried this last one and it is the best i could get. the speed will improve notably once the signal is good.

  • 600kb/s ???? im sittin 2 kb/s BELOW dial up with windstream's "speedstream high speed internet" (54.1kb/s) im gettin ripped :(

  • try wireless n routers on ur window with tin foil it will look ghetto but works very well with decent weather

  • All you cheap dik headdsss i got comcast highspeed nd a router attached to it so i get wifi nd wired :p

  • You know what I hate

He's got it on repeater mode, now his neighbors will get access to the free wifi because of his antenna and router. He does all the work, neighbors get it for free lol

  • his neighbors get it for free anyways. city wi fi.

  • @qw2589

but don't forget, You always can to encrypt the transition of a signal by WEP or any other kind of encryption key.

  • @qw2589 not if he has security code on the modem

  • @qw2589 That makes him a good neighbor then, doesn't it?

  • @qw2589 so true. now that 600 up and down is probably like 150 up and down.

  • @qw2589 Hopefully he has it password protected to keep off mooching neighbors

  • @qw2589 Let it be man he's giving charities to her neighbours ha ha aha ha ah

  • @qw2589 wpa2 passwords duhh!!!!

  • @ConnorHTV Well if you were repeating the signal you wouldn't be able to encrypt it. Because your repeating the exact same security less signal. Smart one.

  • @ConnorHTV You can't rebroadcast a signal with your own password on a default firmware, he would have to put DDWRT on it

  • @qw2589 im talking about his neighbors stealing his network next time dont talk like a smart ass kbro

  • @ConnorHTV Thats what I am talking about moron, its a public WIfi with no password he is merely extending the signal, you dummy

  • @qw2589 Dont you love Socialism ?

  • @tutoriales3minutos No that's why I love in America and not China

  • @qw2589 China is not Socialist, is Communist, and Obama tend to like Socialism.

  • @tutoriales3minutos They also seem to be Capitalists too, look at all the money USA owes them. Words like Communism Socialism Capitalism are just words, USA has some socialist things like Social Security and welfare so what exactly is The USA? Obama is in the pockets of big business and Banks that makes him a corporatist not a socialist. Did they actually teach you anything correctly in school?

  • @tutoriales3minutos I mean live

  • @qw2589 His city already has a free wifi

  • Just a thought....

As someone else mentioned...Upgrade your antenna cable to something better that is shielded.

And maybe put some shielding on those large electrical cables shown in the video!

Magnetic gauss fields, signal crosstalk and interference...

    Not good!

  • hi i have a sme roter, yu can show me how to do?

  • get a class n beikle it 60$ AND WORKS GOOD

  • Change the coax to a higher grade, or shorten it, also set the router to client mode, and connect a seperate AP (by CAT5) on a channel as far from the main AP, and your speed should improve, as the Repeater will half your speed.

  • Give the second AP a different SSID - of course!

  • 30 would be NICE, around here the cheapest options are 50 more for real good speeds

  • I had a solid 10dB gain with a cantenna. Simple,cheap,and works well!

  • hmmmm

  • i'd love to see your can antenna video :) would a set of cans work better do to more surface area?
