i got the powerpak after waiting 8 weeks, yes it looks pretty hich-tech and i see alot of potential in it.
but after i loaded several roms on it,i discovered that many roms like ducktales,metroid,kirby,castlevania3 etc,,, dit,nt work, so i dit trough by myself was it worth trowing $155 away?,well i got mixed feelings about it.
if they don,t fix all problems richtnow,i ,m affraid you better of with nestopia emulator.
but yes it sounds cool to play games on the real nes.
@johneymute has it been updated? can you play ducktales,metroid,kirby,castlevania3 ? on the powerpak? please if you could spare some time and reply me back, thanks
The compact flash reader that RetroUSB sells is crap. Your better off spending a few more bucks and getting another. The Powerpak is beyond awesome though.
I know the powerpak is great and all, but honestly, it's not the best. why? well, me and my cousin were playing some good 'ol super mario bros 3 multiplayer using the powerpak. we played allll night. until...we've reached world 6 and then my cousin told me "hey, i'm tired, can we finish this tomorrow?" i agreed since i was tired too. so I turned the power off and turned it back on the next day. i selected the game and as soon as i pressed start, my jaw dropped to the floor. to be continued...

WTF?! our game wasn't saved?! my cousin yelled. well, now you know, the piece of shit powerpak doesn't save your data. and do you know what else? even if we were playing on the original smb3 cartridge, it still won't save your game. i said to myself "if only we were playing on a wii or an emulator, then we would've saved our game. so do yourself a favor...don't buy this piece of shit. playing nes games is best on the wii, trust me.
Learn to read. I never said no one likes emulation. I said no one agrees with you, and emulation is not the same experience. I guess you kind of have to just make things up as you go when you're a troll though, huh?
ha ha, yeah!...Well Do you think your "hope it get's you laid" comment is gonna get you laid either!? powerpak is an excellent example of black market engineering for serious black market aficionados only ..If it gets me laid well then bonus...I'ts prolly the type of girl I would marry anyway.......if she also likes powerpak!!!!
my home brew emu can play all nes games without a problem.. why does everyone including Bob-onyx (maker of uvlnes) have trouble with their mappers??? they're using C or visual basic, that's why, not assembly language... -_-
$130 bucks for something, just so you can play on the "actual NES", and impress your hipster friends?
I paid $9 bucks for a NES controller to USB connector cable, and I'm playing the exact same games, on the exact same 46-inch high definition television, with the exact same controller.
The only difference is that I'm not tied to a piece of hardware which was made unreliable because of an (obviously) failed attempt at piracy prevention.
@hossrex you be trolling :P Btw your haircut is really sexy, girls are definitely attracted to overweight balding men. But since that video was made 2 years ago, who knows how much hair you have left? The powerpak is appealing to collectors who have a ton of nes games, and instead of putting each one in whenever they want to play a game, it's all done on one cart.
You drew first blood when you quipped "hope it gets you laid."
That slip doesn't add anything to the discussion; it's an attack against the person whom you disagreed with. What right do you have to point out an insult in that case?
Furthermore, again, what right do YOU have to dictate how other people can spend their money?
Voice disagreement, but be respectful about it. You wouldn't get back such a derisive response if you did that from the beginning.
@LqFFREAKK A very Tempting product but, 130 dollars is way too expensive even if it was hard to make a flash cart that can support 8 different mappers.
@zeldajunkielol2 8? There are at least 16. But that really isn't the cost part. What makes it cost money, is selling the flash carts to a small niche market. Sales are in the hundreds, not millions like DS flash carts. Someone has to pay to have a mold made and manufactured in small quantities. It's like saying.. why should I pay 80,000 for a European car, when I can get a Kia for 10,000.
"$130 bucks for something, just so you can play on the "actual NES", and impress your hipster friends?"
Did he spend YOUR money? If not, what right do YOU have to complain?
"I paid $9 bucks for a NES controller to USB connector cable, and I'm playing the exact same games, on the exact same 46-inch high definition television, with the exact same controller."
So, what? And what if he wanted to play the NES on a CRT SDTV, especially to play Zapper games?
"The only difference is that I'm not tied to a piece of hardware which was made unreliable because of an (obviously) failed attempt at piracy prevention."
Actually, 10NES was mostly successful for its intended purpose. Although anti-piracy was one of its aims, it's main purpose was locking out unlicensed developers from making games on the NES to prevent a software flood that helped to kill gaming in 1983. Problems occurred if the contacts were dirty, but that's usually not a big deal to fix.
In every way except the ability to tell other people "hey, I own this old piece of nostalgia"... actually yes... playing with an emulator is EXACTLY the same as playing on the real hardware.
I don't care about bragging to people about owning an original NES, so I play my games in whichever medium/format is easiest/cheapest.
I have a PC connected to my HDtv, and a NES gamepad to USB converter.
Indulge me... explain how that "is not equal to" using original hardware.
@hossrex The sound is not the same, the graphics are not the same. If you are not capable of realizing, it is a shame for you. Compare the waveform from a real Ricoh 2A03 (the NES processor) with the output of an emulator. I did it, and I can assure you that the difference is obvious. There are many other inimitable factors, for example the NTSC palette its very hard to emulate, Inclusive the current emulators have differences in the colors that they show.
@hossrex All that without mentioning that you cannot use any official accessory of nintendo, like the Zapper, the R.O.B, the Power Pad, the PowerGlove, etc.
There are so many differences!, when you have an original NES, you are going to retract, if you not retract, what a shame. A greeting!.
I can use the Powerglove, the powerpad... and if I cared to own one... a R.O.B. just fine. I honestly don't know if the Zapper works, because I've never tried.
The sound is 99% identical, the graphics are 99.9% identical.
The only way to tell the difference is if you're specifically TRYING to find the difference... and... if that's what you're doing, good for you.
That doesn't mean it's even marginally less enjoyable emulated.
@hossrex Yeah I guess sitting in front of a computer screen is fun to play games if you have no friends :(.. sad. Not to mention emulation just feels like shit.. it's not the "exact same thing"
lol... some of us have HD televisions. You know they work as a computer monitor, eh?
And you're wrong. With an official Nintendo Gamepad, it's so close to exact on 99% of the games that it might as well be called the "exact same thing."
@hossrex We all have access to and have all tried free emulators and roms, they have been around forever.. no one agrees with you. It is a completely different experience.. That is why it is called "emulation" because it is emulating the real thing, it is not the same. Just stop trolling and walk away. Obviously there is a demand for this item. People want to play on the real hardware. Just because you don't want it, doesn't mean it's useless.
The number one reason (according to JBOPatrick) that emulation has "been around forever" is... apparently... because no one likes it.
If you have such refined senses that using an emulator to play Mario, Contra, or Zelda results in an unplayable experience... I honestly feel sorry for you. I don't have a sarcastic punchline for that. I just pity you.
The rest of us will be over here enjoying the game.
Is the compact flash already loaded w/ games, it is pretty expensive, but you can't make these easily, and you can play all your old games on there.. Man.. I can't believe they made something crazy.
@tornadexx Considering this is the only nes flashcart on the market, they are able to set their own price. Ds flash carts are cheap as hell due to competition between all the different companies that produce their own cart.
