Even though this is written by a guy about a girl it goes the other way too. I know because i have been there and every word of this song was true for me once.
I can like this...Reminds me of the winter of 1972. Just got to Germany from 6 Months of Hell... To young to know better, But seemed like fun at the time.. So young ............. "Fresh out of hell on a morning so cold and alone Nobody there to say welcome home So I roll like the leaves I blow like the sand And I tumble like a paper cup Thats caught in the wind Now I see all sides Sense is not issue I've got the eyes of the blind When I draw your face on blackboard sky
Loved both the Ridgway and Prieboy incarnations of Wall of Voodoo, but this is my all-time favourite from them. I have the album, and have seen the CD come up for sale from time to time on eBay - but always at a premium price. (I probably shouldn't be telling anyone, cuz I'll probably be bidding against you guys now.)
I absolutely ADORED this song a zillion years ago and I still do - the vocals & the lyrics the whole ethereal beauty of it - it could've been a cut on Magical Mystery Tour - tho the synths are a bit much - so what - it was the 8o's!! This is still a great song weird techno auto drum aside - love it - love it!!! Great IMAGERY HERE!
@stu1018 I agree totally!!One of the best live albums I've ever heard.Ring of fire is better, far side of crazy is magnificent. They should've recorded live, never in the studio again haha.
One of those songs that grows on you, particularly the middle ("And if I look in your eyes...well be happy once again"). WOV with Prieboy was drenched with a sense of the tragic.
I somehow missed this song in the 80's. It is awesome!

My favorite track post Ridgeway. "The Ugly Americans" version is even better in my opinion. Bigger and more expansive. Just a freaking great song.
