  • hahah 3;19~! typical lips concert

  • @sifish222 its mentioned in Jim DeRogatis' book 'Staring at Sound'

  • Thumbs up for Coyne's relative at 4:12.

  • @CorbeezeJD looks alot like his oldest brother tommy

would you happen to know how he's getting along now??

  • @ElPresidenteFerry I'm afraid you're just plain wrong. The founding line up consisted of Wayne Coyne, his brother Mark, Michael Ivins and Dave Kostka. This song was written for the album 'Oh My Gawd!!!', during which time (1987), the lineup was Wayne, Michael and Richard English. Wayne wrote this song after a drug addict friend came to visit him at Long John Silver's, but Wayne was too busy to see him. This man committed suicide later that night. Steven joined in Novermber, 1991.

  • @Samguitar27 ive heard that alot... you got the source of it?? (a book or interview)?

  • crying dude at 4:29 knows whats up

  • @ozabobododo This was written long before Steven joined. Surely every Flaming Lips fan knows that?

  • @Samguitar27 Steven is one of the founding members of the band. Surely every Flaming Lips fan knows that?

  • @ElPresidenteFerry wrong he joined when they put out transmissions from the sattelite heart. surely every flaming lips fan knows that

  • @ElPresidenteFerry steve joined in the very early 90s. the band got together like 7 or 8 years before that

  • woah.. go for it steve

  • Holy Shit! Wayne's playing the guitar! I love these guys!

  • Another beautiful moment:

Steven's backing vox which come in around 3:31 and they build and build and build. Watched this with tears in my eyes this morning.

  • Impresionante.

  • Was that dude in the white shirt crying at 4:28? He must definitely relate to this song or know someone who od'ed on drugs.

  • @ozabobododo

Maybe he was OD'ing on drugs himself at the time???

  • @wallpaperkilla Who Wayne? He's always been cleaner than a preachers sheets, although these days that's not too clean.

  • @ozabobododo Not, Wayne, the guy in the white shirt you pointed out.

  • @wallpaperkilla Oh! My bad bro (if your a female sorry). Yeah he could've been, if i had to od and die, I could think of a lot worse places than the ground in the middle of a Flaming Lips show. Especially during such a beautiful song. Sorry for my confusion. Not many bands have multiple EPIC albums. Yoshimi and The Soft Bulletin are every bit as amazing as OK Computer and Rolling Stone (i think) voted OK Computer as the #1 album of all time. You can put those albums on and almost see them!

  • @ozabobododo Rolling Stone voted the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as the #1 album of all time last I checked.

  • @joethulhuz You're right. I saw it on a list of the year's best, sorry. I looked and the Beatles have like 4 albums in the top 15, damn.

  • Thank you Steven for being the inspiration in much of the Lips music. They have an interesting dynamic with Steve being a heroin addict. I know that Goin On is about Wayne's fear of losing him.

  • love:

    - the blonde girl at 4.27

    - but most of all Wayne's guitar at 4.30

    thanx for the video!!!

  • Fucking beautiful!
