  • wanna make this for cheap, all u need is old hard drive or small bike wheel, old drill motor and a few pipes

  • WHAT !!??

  • CAN U GET A KIT OR JUST THE BASE SO I CAN USE MY BLADE DESIGN.??????????????? TPAJOHNB@ YAHOO.COM

  • If you strap one of these to the roof of your MPV and wire it up to the Cigar lighter....you will be able to light cigarettes all day...and watch it whizzing round......Pimp my ride....Eh.

  • Was that filmed during a hurricane?

  • the power of wind multiplies by 8 when the wind speed doubles. That can be a lot of power!

  • i can power my speekers with it in my room! ... thats not going to do much and when its under lode it will want to spin slower and slower creating less and less power if you try useing it... leve it to the really big windmills only they can really supply good power

  • LOL from over priceing.

  • These guys are long gone out of business.

  • hmmm pvc pipe j.b. weld with a scrounged pm alternator im gonna be rich it'll cost me 30.00 and apperently i can sell it for 3500.00

  • Total costs (generator & installation) $30.000... we're still a loooooooooooooong way to go

  • "3 months at 98 mph"

Who was it that said: "Tell a big enough lie and people will believe it." I think that was Hitler's Minister of Propaganda, Josef Goebbels. You aren't related to Goebbels, are you?

  • As of April 15, 2011, Nepal will turn 2068 years old in regards to Bikram Sambat calendar. Right now the New Nepali Constitution is planning a draft to use Kirat's calendar (Yele Sambat) to commemorate King Yalamber for opening up Kathmandu valley and starting the human civilization in the valley.

  • $3500 holy shit ur making a like $3400 in profit!!!!!!!

I could make one of these for about $100-$200

  • @shortyjk95 Let's see an itemized list of yours that would add up $200.

  • @shortyjk95 That is hilarious, thanks for the laughs.. P.S. I agree with you..

  • $3,500? Is this women on crack?

  • @MegaDeathwarrant

    3500 Watts, not Cost.

  • Lol just cos its a novelty they think they can sell it for a rip off XD. Really one guy tried to sell a gutted burger trailer with 3 poles in and called it a "rapid razor wire deployer" or some shit like that. I'm sick to death of scrap metal crators rip people off.

  • Yea the wind looked more than 5 mph. Nice shirt

  • windmills go for 1/10th this price. This should market well at around $700, above that, people would opt for the windmill. Fire the marketing exec. Cost to manufacture this should be more than $177 on a medium scale.

  • mwaha $3500?? does that include your battery bank?

  • It would be nice to tell what you can power with it...and how long...also, how do you store the energy?

  • Let the Chinese mass produce these and they can get it down to 1/10 the price. Wind turbines unlike solar, is just an engineering problem keeping them from mass adoption. If you could buy this for $500 or so, everyone would have one..

  • $3500 bucks. wow that's pretty expensive. I would definately go green, but the costs are still way to expensive for small wind turbines and solar panels.

  • @mozeus5 Absolutely, the prices are prohibitive. Think if the UN set up a program. They start a company, buy a patent and sell these things at cost to governments, business and direct to people. Mass produced, wind generators would be dirt cheap and with one on every home and small start up companies placing them wherever they can with profit sharing deals etc etc ....

  • @mozeus5 The difference is with a wind or solar system you OWN your electric, whereas the status quo is simply dumping money down someone elses hole in order to buy your power. And with financing typically you put zero money down and wind up eliminating your electric bill, thereby replacing it with a financing bill which is almost always lower than what your electric bill was in the first place.

With renewables there is no such thing as "too expensive".

  • @mozeus5

yep the right kinda of green technology should be inexpensive and a real game changer. take nano ink thin film photovoltaics for example. as an emerging technology we wont be able to buy till later this year or maybe next year. But costs are around 20c per watt with panels starting as low as 1w all the way up to industrial KW panels. literally once this comes out all existing solar tech will be defunkt. i think a few mobile phone companies are going to start releasing solar phones too.

  • I don' t know how she is measuring wind, but that was not a 5 mph wind as stated, seriously doubt the numbers she is stating in anything now.

  • if this turbine can give 50W it will be fantastic.

  • for a company that works at wind turbine places you world think that they could afford a wind shield for their camera!

  • Geeze at most it would cost you 300 bucks to make one yourself... 315.00 if you count a few beers...

  • @TheManInDboX agreed! $3500! A 1kw car alternator costs about $200.

How much for some sheet metal and bearings to make the spinner?!

  • @TheManInDboX

The magnets alone would cost more than 300 dollars.

  • I think these types of turbine are more birds friendly than propellers'.

  • How much does this cost ?

  • i could barely and at times hear nothing you said. From your stats, its very inefficient and very costly. Please redo the video .

  • talk, talk, wind, wind, wind, talk, wind, talk, talk, wind wind wind, talk. girl you were looking good, get closer to the camera and tell your story so we can hear ya too

  • wow, if you are in a tropical storm you can light up like a dozen lightbulbs! i gotta get one of these things

  • Pacwind is gone..out of biz. too many failures

  • Zapraszam zobacz mój vawt.

  • 3500 dollars? Are you shitting me? Gimme ten feet of pvc pipe and an alternator and i will make you the same thing in my garage for a tenth that much.

  • Thats like saying you get 60mpg when you drive 1 mile an hour. Lets be realistic lady.

  • gas from the farts, that will be the future!!!

  • These guys work with wind products, but can't afford a fluffy fuzzy microphone to kill the wind sound, that's Irony.

  • 500 watts? will it power an electrical engine which in turn spins the fins?

  • I HAVE A YOUTUBE ACCOUNT SO MY OPINION MATTERS.

  • can you email me more information and let me know where i could purchase one and how much it is, etc.

    email to orionfirearms@comcast.net

  • Its so windy there that she has to hold the Turbine so not to fall....

Imagine having to wait until a Hurricane hit to do a video to sell your product.

A newscaster in a hurricane sounds like her talking.

  • If that's "five or six mph" I'm Henry Kissinger.

  • @Cowcharge Hi Henry

  • @Cowcharge , Yup..

  • I'm pretty certain she means KM.h

  • I was hopeing to see her top fly up!

  • @Jthetinman LOL!! She's not THAT hot. Try thewhitehouse.comm or something. XD

  • bonjour. super cette éolienne, mais.. ont ne vie pas tous au bord d'un aéroport.. Ce matériel a l'air d'avoir besoin d'une force de vent considérable.

  • We have a little bit of wind today she says, she can hardly stand up,never mind keep her wig on-dizzy cow.

  • It can not have 500 Watts at this vid.

500 Watt (VA) equals to 0.679 Horsepower and she hold the Rotor

with her hand without any strength.

    This type of Savonius-Rotor sucks.

  • yea in most area wind doesnt stay at a constant 28 mph, however after studying these wind turbines I see what they need, a wind catcher.

Ok no one knows WTF a wind catcher is, but I do I see it in my head and what it is, well it is simple. Think of a hood scoop on the hood of a hotrod, it catches air and forces it into the carberator, that is what I meen, a large scoop that funnels air into a smaller area focased on the wind turbine, 5 to 6 mph winds can be vamped up to 28 easy!

  • @NoobyRC Yup. You're right. We built one like this. It's sufficient to power a car batter in strong wind (such as in the video) but that's it.

  • @NoobyRC Um...isn't that what this thing is? Just with a whole lot more of those scoops you imagine?

  • @UpcomingJedi You're right that those are scoops, but it's not the scoop he's describing. Imagine the scoop he's describing as a funnel. The wind enters at the large end of the funnel and gets compressed as the funnel shrinks to a small opening. Because the wind is getting compressed, it has to shoot out faster our of the small opening. Where the air is shooting out is where the wind turbine would be placed. It's a great concept that I could actually see being made.

  • @NoobyRC

You're leading us into some cool technology...

it's called the venturi effect...read up on it..pretty interesting..discoverd about 200 years ago.

  • @goose2goose2 I am sure there has been stuff long discovered and kept "hidden" for oil and coal is the answer to everything!

I can just see it working in my head that is all, and wounder if it can be done. I am sure it can and wind can be used to produce all the electricity you will need for your home. But then how will the electric companies make there money?

  • The thing I want ot see is a wind turbine of some type attached to a blimp and that blimp gets into the jet stream.

  • @tock101 With the blimp blown along at the same speed as the wind. Interesting idea.

  • @glynbrain he means a tethered blimp. Therefore it stays in the same place... and reaps the benefits of jet-stream speed winds which are also constant.. only problem is that the jet-stream moves with the seasons...

  • @trcxsa Thanks, that makes it clearer.

  • @glynbrain No probz man :-)

  • @trcxsa maybe more than just one problem with that idea..the jet stream lives between

22-28,000 feet....a tether 6 miles long, and strong enough to hold a blimp in a 100 mph wind

would weight over a ton..the blimp could not support the weight of the tether..

    what else you got?

  • @goose2goose2 true true. its definitely more than 100mph wind anything from 50kts to 215kts is possible. And they arnt particularly big. just very long. I dont think a blip is actually suitable for this. But maby a lifting body of some sort. a flying wing or something. When its in the jet stream is should be easily capable of lifting the tether, the problem would be getting it up there initially. once in the jet stream it would be a glider basically with somewhat unlimited lift.

  • @trcxsa not enough lift available to carry the weight of the tether

  • @altclyti Why not? lol how much does a 1KM long cable weigh?

  • Respond to this video... it could have electric motors added on as boosters for when the wind dropped to 50kts and since its tethered it would just need to draw power from the ground. they would be needed only in emergency situations to keep it in the air. The glider could just follow the stronger currents for normal operation.

  • Redo the audio for an old pair of ears.

  • Any information on what happened to Pacwind? I can't seem to find their website anymore.

  • @BORNGEARHEAD

In November 2008, certain intellectual property assets of PacWind were acquired by WePOWER, LLC.

    according to wikipedia

  • @econchino

we power's pedigree..is renting store spaces in shopping malls.....yep real experts!

  • What....What...I can't hear you, the wind...

  • how much rated rpm

  • Does anyone know what happened to Pacwind? Their site isn't working. Is the Seahawk VAWT still available?

  • @BORNGEARHEAD

    no..they're gone.

  • Going for 3 months at 98 mph!!!

Yet she's worried about it being bird friendly.

  • if she could do a pole dance with it, it might go faster

  • that turbine is goin almost as fast as her mouth

  • how about a 150v ac 60 watt (i think...if i memorized it correctly) turbine version of fan blowing in it all the time plugged in the wall?

  • vertical wind turbines work way better than the traditional kind, because it spins without frictions,i want to get something like that i almost bought a traditional kind of wind turbine...she looks beautiful(the woman)!

  • You obviously need to do a little more homework, what you spout is pure BS.

  • 5-6 mph... Yeah, right.

  • geeh, great lie, cause theres alot of wind in that plain area, she's in the airport...except i the turbine is power based rather than speed based

  • little wind ...? and her hairs going crazy

  • The prolly have a blowe facing at her and the windmill?

    Go solar

    So 500 watts is crap.

And 0.00 watts with no wind.

  • @Itanium153 solar the same 0.00 with no sun

  • @Itanium153 nah, you always have wind, but rarely sunny weather.

  • @Itanium153 so 0.00 watts no sun

and 500 watts during a normal day or storm when the power goes out

  • imagine how a storm would be like there ...

  • @jeka100 - as low as 5mph & it does work

  • Tthe future is wide open. Expect great things.

  • yeah like interactive porno :P

  • oh.. now that is funny!

  • @Gromitdog1 Yes.

  • Average 500 watts, that might be enough to power my computer and peripherals. The GE 1.5MW turbines generate 30% under best conditions. It woud take over 9 million of them to replace the US power grid and thats with no storage devices. The only alternative to fossel fuel is nuclear. Fusion prefered or Thorium Reaction but Uranium will do in pinch.

  • Comment removed

  • @Texmurphy51 my math says you need 30,000 1.5 mega watts wind towers, we put up 2000 a year, in 15 years were done.

your math says we need 273,000 50 megawatt nuclear power stations.

  • US grid now= 40Quads=116x10e8MWH/year; A 1.5Mw turbine,(26.9%avg in US) 1.5mwx365dayx24hrsx20%=3.5MWH/year. Divide 116/3.5 = 3.3Million Turbines required. Project future usage&cars/buses going electric triple it to 9Million. You cant calculate using peak 1.5MW cause they generate less than 30% peak. It takes 2 years to payback mfg/install energy for a turbine. I have them close by & there is no plan to decomission them after their 20yr life is up. Look at those now installed & see their output.

  • @Texmurphy51 wow , who new that 30 men women and child used 1.5 megawat.

lets see 1500000 watts divided by thirty = 50 thousand watts. thats 5 hundred 100 watt light bulbs, i better go turn one off. befor my house burns down.

  • Using you 30 people number you only take homes into account. In the Obama future we may have not factories but for now Factories, hospitals, malls, subways...well you get the idea. Again you cant use the 1.5Meg figure because that is maximum output. 20 to 27% of that is best case. I am not against the use of wind or solar but to bet our future on it is insane. Other than Nuclear the only large source is Oil, Natural Gas and Coal.

  • @Texmurphy51 i got that 30 people number from you. 300 million people divided by 9 million wind towers. thats roughly 30 people per tower, a really stupid number when you consider no one could even pay for that much power. that would be an annual bill of 43,000 dollars for each citizen not each house hold. your numbers are absolutely ludicrous. there is no way each and every citizen

uses that much power. maybe your numbers need to be reviewed for trustworthiness.

  • put a motor on it that uses 250 watt. and then you got a steady 250 watt

  • 5 to 6 miles an hour plus 30mph!!!!

  • 5 to 6 miles per hour? The wind is blowing like crazy, listen to the mic and look at the ladies hair.

  • "3 months at 98 miles an hour" ??? Wow! No need for electricity, the people are all blown away!

  • She says 500 watts at 28mph. Very rarely does the wind blow 28mph in most locations. Average wind speed around the country is 8-15mph. So what's that, 100 watts out of this thing? For $3500? Yeesh. A 100 watt solar panel would be much cheaper.

  • @proaudiohd

a 100 watt solar panel will only put out 100 watts at peak solar conditions. Depending on your solar resource available it may only produce 30 watts on average

  • @proaudiohd Thats the problem with wind turbines. The amount of power they produce is so low that they need to be heavily subsidized to be interesting. And the fact that wind power is unstable and unreliable means that backup power is always necessary.

  • @proaudiohd Not to mention you could build one yourself for less than a thousand and have it produce the same amount of watts.

  • @kryp10yt

I would love to see what kind of crap you can cobble together for thousand bucks...

You have zero clue what you're talking about..sit down and shut up.

  • @goose2goose2 Hahaha

  • @proaudiohd If 28mph = 500 W, then 7 mph= 7.8 W!!!

  • @proaudiohd you could build one of these for a couple hundred dollars, the idea is brilliant. for people who don't want to build them though, I hope they sell lots. more power to them!

  • @proaudiohd COME ON PACWIND WHAT'S YOUR RESPOND TO THIS !?

  • @proaudiohd a 100watt solar panel will only work less than 1/2 of the day. a wind turbine works as long as there is wind, day and night.

  • Cool if all the street and hwy lamp pole had one of these in the center of it. Could not only cut the cost to keep the streets lights on add solar to it and the state could sel the extra energy to the electric companies making some extra green to offset taxes then sell ad space on them

  • @sweepmeoffmyfeetnow: That's the best idea I've heard so far this year. It makes absolute sense; therefore, the federal government will never consider it.

But try pitching your idea to the "green" Terminator; he just might take you up on it. With all the eco-friendly laws Arnold has passed, Californians can't even fart in public!

P.S. If you become insanely rich, you can use YouTube to track me down and say thank$. (:^)

  • @sweepmeoffmyfeetnow oh really. my state doesnt buy power from its citizens.

my states monopoly power company buys politicians instead. but, they did cancel all future coal and gas projects

and now invest 100 percent wind. because they want to make money from thin air before you do. im sure the banning of private electrical is to soon follow, after all they are a legal monopoly.

if they do i am prepared to go with coal.

  • riebedebie,

Why would 500 watts be a joke? If youre an engineer you should know that the mechanical energy 1Nms could easily be achieved.

Maybe you have kW in your head for some reason.

If its pushing 500kW Ill take 2! lol

  • Just by how much her hair is blowing I would say there is at least a 15-20 mph wind going on there. Certainly well beyond 5 mph. However, the turbine is performing very well for that wind anyway. I like it.

  • you sure cant spell for an engineer roflmao

  • My apologies for the spelling errors

I'm just a simple Flemish guy who speaks seven languages... but not perfectly

    I'm only human

  • 500 watt ???....i hope this is a joke...

i'm an aerodynamic ingeneer and can asure you that you put a "zero" too much

you can get maximum 50 !!!! watt out of this turbine.

  • 500 Watts numb nuts, not 500kW !! I think you guys have your zero's mixed up

  • 5 to 6 mph winds my asssssssss...sheesh...

  • Ok,veramente bella.

  • what did she say ;-D

  • I would say that is about 50 Watts.

  • Yes, taping in the wind givvvessses youchhhh a shheee greeesshee sound.

FOLKS - DO THE SOUND INSIDE THE STUDIO AFTER YOU TAPE THE SEGMENT.

LISTENING TO THE DAMN WIND DOESN'T DO YOU OR THE VIEWER ANY GOOD!

  • Not only that she's saying "we have little wind today" and all the wind sounds make it seem like it's completely opposite....

  • @MACKATTACK1970 - or just get a good location sound man with the right gear and there would be no wind noise. Amazing how youtube has allowed crappy sound to trickle into acceptance. If this were a half hour TV show we would turn the channel.

  • @proaudiohd

That sound drives me crazy, if she can't afford a sound man etc., it's no problem, tape it silent and then record it at home for a clear sound.

as in any are of technology, the development stage must be heavily financed from the state in order kick start a market oriented development eventually.

  • 3500$

That is robbery! When you can make your own.

Unless it comes with the girl included for nightly "packing", 3500?$ is too much for a turbine!

  • Id like to pack her instead ...
