  • I live in USA, lucky we have almost every ingredients, can buy at Marina food, Ranch 99, Loved to cook at home, I also cook american and italian foods as well. I love thai s food, my boyfriend also loves fried rice :)

  • I try to teach people in other countries how to cook Thai . That's all we have here in the US.

  • We are teaching the people who don't know how to cook so measurements are important

    Normally when I cook I don't measure.

  • Are you making food or murder!

  • kathy = HOT!

  • my favorite dish ..i cant wait to eat them ..next month ..

  • I realized one very important thing - Thai food appetizing by default!

  • Hi Cathy, do you have to marinate the chicken? we always get chicken basil fried rice from our local thai restaurant. I want to try this recipe.

  • i didnt knw dat since so many days i've been cookin thai fried rice...lol

  • 29 people got messed up by thai fighters because they did not eat this amazing dish

  • No eggs? Is that really Thai or is that your style fried rice with no eggs?!

  • @karakun1 no egg for this recipe. usually we(Thai) eat basil fried rice with "deep fried egg"

  • @karakun1

with basil fried rice you don't add egg when stir-fry since the egg will dull down the fragrance of basil. We can add fried egg on top of it though. But normal fried-rice we do stir-fry the rice with egg

  • I'm proud to be Thai :)

  • aroi jung :D

  • What a cute mother and daughter!! I really love how you two communicate and have fun with the cooking lesson experience. This looks absolutely delicious....I'm going to harvest my thai basil right now.

  • Yummy Thai food,my favorite~~~~~~!

  • I really like the look of this food, I also love the way the two presenters interact with one another....they are so in tune.....Lovely mother and daughter.

I would love to try this but at present I am on my own and am a bit wary of cooking it for the first time for rfriends in case I make a mess. I think I will have a go anyway....I am not sure about the cilantro though whether I will be able to get hold of it where I live. It is exciting. Loved the video.

  • This is amazing!!!

  • Even in Thailand, we prefer COLD steamed regular white rice for any kind of fried rice because Jusmine rice is too soft to make a fine fried rice.

  • Back in the olden days, we just add only fish sauce. However, this is also good. If you want better flavor, you should try sweet basil instead.

  • I don't think that I have had Thai basil chicken before. Sounds good.

  • Muchas gracias por tan bonito video. Voy a prepararle a mi esposo esta receta.

  • I'm making this dish Tommorrow for dinner can't wait

  • I love it!!

  • look good

  • thai food are so yummy :)

  • damn !! it so damn easy and yummy~~~

  • Your mom is cool. For me she is sort of like a cool older sister who likes to cook. :)

  • Thank you very much. I think that if you chop the peppers and basils in a little piece that will be better.

  • @JessicaAndAllen31811

When you bruise the chili pepper and garlic you get more flavor than by chopping them in small pieces

  • These videos are excellent. I have made this one many times.

    Thanks.

  • Too much chicken for that kind of fried rice

  • @meoynoratha

You can adjust the amount of chicken to suit your tastes

  • ดีค่า

  • I want to eat it now!!!!!!!

  • Made this yesterday, the best fried rice I ever made and making tonight as well. Thanks so much for the recipy.

  • I cooked this for my dinner. dear lord, the basil does make difference... BIG ONE!

  • where can i get thai basil

  • @caroldvera

If you live near a southeast asian market you can probably find it there

  • Actually fish sauce are mostly produce from vietnam, stinky but makes everything taste so good, like they say "smell like fish but taste like chicken" :)

  • @Bananainside

Fish sauce is mainly from Thailand and in my recipe I prefer fish sauce from Thailand

  • This is really really delicious and I am still finding this delicious even after 2-years stay in Bangkok. I am loving it.

  • khao pad grapao gaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii omnomnomnomnommmmm!!!! too bad its just not the same without the real grapao :(

  • @spacemanspiff33

I agree but that's all we can find in the US. Better than nothing

  • @egeefay I understand totally....whenever I see it pop up in the asian supermarkets up here in Canada I snatch it up :)

  • I live in Sweden and I don't have any thai people and never been to Thailand except when I was 14. Still a lot of the food I cook is thai food. This is one favorite recipe when you can't make up your mind what to cook and you have some rice left over.

I love the accent how this mother in the video speaks :D

My family loves this dish, even my grandma if i don't put much chili in it.

  • u guys need more videos!! lol

  • Thai food, Filipino, and Japanese foods heal and keeps you healthy.

  • น่ากินจังเลย ขอบคุณมากๆครับ

    ต้น จตุพล

  • @jchaiseesiri

Thank you for being so open minded. We don't have all the Thai ingredients here but we try to make it as authentic as possible

  • I feel hungry now :D

  • Thanks! I just made this recipe for dinner and it's great. The story about the fish sauce is priceless and seems completely sensible to me. Who could live without fish sauce?!?

  • i miss my home. . . . . . T_T

  • I tried this with rice noodles and it was the BOMB!

  • looks so good, just like the fried rice you'd get at a nice tai restaurant.

  • what, no egg?!

  • @NOTA8008

    Yes no eggs

  • Oooooook ... gonna give this a try ... first try at cooking a Thai dish ... good vid

  • Thank you very much, the vid is just awesome, very well explained. I searched it because i wasn't sure if i needed oyster sauce or nam pla, but i see you use both!

BTW, i knew thai basil chicken, but its the first time i see it cooked altogether with rice.

    Thanks again!

  • Thank you so much, I'll write this down.

  • i love lamp

  • best type of food

  • hot and spice is the meaning of thai food

  • one of the best recipe ever...became me and my partner's all-time-favorite...Thank you!!!

  • Acually, you guys can use blender to blend all galics and chilis. It's works too !!

  • thank you for the video... i am really obsessed with Thai food especially the chicken dishes =) YUM!!

  • egeefay - your mom and you should have your own cooking show, that looks so good.!!!!!!!!!1

  • yeah filipinos cant live without fishsauce either

  • Obviously fish sauce is a SouthEast Asian thing ie Viet Filipino Thai etc.

  • Great video :D

  • OMG that looks so good

  • I would have to try that with my boyfriend

  • yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

  • มันใส่ใบโหระพาไม่ใช่เหรอวะนั่น

  • @alied33 Yes she used sweet basil leaves instead of hot basil leaves because they are found easily in western country. Hot basil leaves or Bai Kra Prao can be seen only during summer time. In Thailand, we always have Hot basil Fried Rice which is a lot better than sweet basil.

  • I wanted to know if worcestershire sauce would be alright if I didn't have fish sauce? Looks good though.

  • @jessweetca

its really nuk mum.... : )

  • i just made this like 5 min ago and it is sooooo goooood! my bf and i loved it!

  • ive tried this recipes and Ohh My Goodness! it came out just perfect i love it. i also add a little more chili. it was spicy just the way i wanted. thanks for the recipes =)

  • I can smell it already. However, I'm worry you have too much oil in the wok.

  • I miss Thailand!!!! ):

Cant wait to go there again (:

  • that looks good

  • I always use a big wooden spoon instead of metal to mix...metal to metal can scape.

  • I lOVE thai food!

  • I just cooked this tonight. I used dried chile peppers. All I could find. So I used like 6 extras cuz it didn't have any spicy juices. She

knew what it was called when I let her hear the Thai name of the dish. She didn't seem so interested cuz she never seen it with fried rice. Oh well, I loved it. I've been trying to cook more Thai food for her, she's Thai.

  • Dude, that's a giant wok!

  • you seem to be using genovese basil. would thai basil be better?

  • i like this dish. i made it for dinner tonight. it's pretty good. But i think it would be better if i added more salt on the chicken when i marinate it.

  • GIrl with blue shirt is HOOOT !

  • This looks great. I'm African American and I love Thai food. It's my favorite.

  • Wow, that looks so good! There's something about cooking with family, I've never been able to make food as well as the older generations.

  • I can't get Thai Basil where I live, would italian basil be the same or is there a different substitute I could use?

  • thanks x sharing! one little suggestion, try not to use metal scoop in a metal saucepan , metal against metal should be avoided while cooking , because of scratches

  • ooh yummy.

  • are those birds eye peppers?

  • This menu is " a - roi - mak "

  • Thank you !!

    this is easy todo

  • Wow she's a hotty :D back to the video, looks good... haha i wish my mom could speak english so i can actually have a long conversation with her

  • ชอบดูมากค่ะ

  • poor and stupid

  • I'm hungry! :)

  • I absolutely love this show!

It is VERY informative and has great camera work, so the culinarian can see everything going in in the kitchen -- BRAVO!

  • Looks great! I shall pass this along to my wife ASAP!

  • i too could survive on this dish alone. every time i am in Bkk this is the firs thing i get

  • yeah my mum tried it too and it was really nice. we added some stuff like onion carrot and snow peas but the flavour is really good.

  • Is she using real Thai basil? The taste is totally different like the Italians are using in the kitchen !

  • Mum is very cute hauling all that fish sauce in vintage photo. She still is a goddess. All the best to whole production team educating the lost white man to eat.

  • Aroi mak mak. Khob khun khrup.

  • Hey ladies, looks great....bout to go try it now....

  • Thank you very much for nice video

  • i tend to find the southern recipes of east asia to be much more flavourful than north... probably due to the availability of the native spices in the area which may grow from there...

but im from the south, and our food is full of flavour! X3

i also find japanese food bland... lol. no offense... im half japanese so i know XD

  • Khao pad kai aroi.

  • I want to marry a Thai girl. :-)
