This songs only suites to Geeta dutt's voice. I donot know how much pain she was able to collect at the time of singing. I think no one can do it in a same way!!! Lata ji is great but Geeta dutt is Geeta dutt..

I was trying to make myself believe that Lata's version has to be at par. Afterall she is Lata. But by d end of Lata's version, I knew, i was in an illusion. Geeta Dutt sang it better, plain and simple.

@sakibali786 With due respect to the nightingale of India, Lataji, I would like to mention that she could never take away the 'awazon ka daur' of any of the three singers whose names you have mentioned in your comment. Noor Jehan left for Pakistan in 1947 when Lataji had just begun. Is she Lataji's contemporary in Bollywood that Lataji would even get a chance to compete with her...
@sounak93 everybody has a right to believe as he want,there are not such thing like equally talented or both r good.only one can take supreme stature the no1 position,& i believe no other female singer is better than Lata Mangeshkar & for me case closed,i didnt need any discussion.she is the best.u felt madam noor jahan,sahamshad ji,geeta dutt,r better than Lataji than,u have a right & u r good enough to prefer any singer over Lataji,for me LATA MANGESHKAR IS BEST & for others i don't care.

Or else, she would not have been titled "The Nightingale of India". Its to be noted that Lataji has herself shown her respect towards all the three other singers (mentioned in the comment)! original one has a rare quality to it,though lataji's sur taal is perfect here,recording system etc help na..but geeta dutt song is jsut awesome,though loved it as shardhanjli songs.personally i love lata's 50's voice songs like hamare baad mehfil mein afsaane bayaan honge is jsut out of this world.

Is this supposed to be a joke? The original song is thousand times superior than this so called Shraddhanjali song. Lata ji should have spared at least this divine song.
Interesting that she choose this song, as so far this is my favorite Geeta Dutt song, also 'Bollywood' song, I'm not from ISC, but think this is a Classic by any standard... Thanks for posting, hope more 'Westerners' discover these precious treasures... :)
