And FYI...not all jobs in the military are pumping fuel, working on a HMMWV, or running around shooting. With my masters degree (and working towards a doctorate), security clearance, experience, and hefty defense spending, I can EASILY come out of the military making what you are making. And it would do many kids good to do some service for their country (unlike you many kids these days seem to come from homes ran by worthless, lazy parents. Just thought I would add something. I am a Marine with a degree from Auburn University, my wife is a professor at the University of Maryland. Although I am proud of the paper, it was nowhere near as tough or rewarding as my time in the service. It was merely a necessity. My wife teaches communication/social cognition at U of M. She was once reprimanded for failing a wide receiver. College is crap.

I see that you will concede I have good points. However, paranoid? I beg to differ. A large part of analysis of Politics involves connecting the dots. If you happen to run into a situation were you find that something is true, but unpopular in mainstream media, it can be written off quickly as nutty conspiracy talk.
When in actuality it is smashing percieved truisms. Thats the toughest thing to get into the mainstream. But eventually it takes hold.

The next time anyone sees a veteran, especially one missing a limb, please thank them for their service and sacrifice. And FYI...not all jobs in the military are pumping fuel, working on a HMMWV, or running around shooting. With my masters degree (and working towards a doctorate), security clearance, experience, and hefty defense spending, I can EASILY come out of the military making what you are making. I do agree it is bad we are importing engineers and scientists. But is that the military's fault? Or the fact that the public education system is going to shit? But feel free to go to Switzerland.

Didn't say I wouldn't recommend college. I was simply stating its not the challenge it once was. And it would do many kids good to do some service for their country (unlike you many kids these days seem to come from homes ran by worthless, lazy parents. And you saying choosing the military is choosing no education is FAR off. I actually joined the military after my bachelors to "get a break from school" but I'll be damned if I haven't gone to school ever since.

Just thought I would add something. I am a Marine with a degree from Auburn University, my wife is a professor at the University of Maryland. Although I am proud of the paper, it was nowhere near as tough or rewarding as my time in the service. It was merely a necessity. My wife teaches communication/social cognition at U of M. She was once reprimanded for failing a wide receiver. College is crap.

My experience in dealing with ex military is totally different. Very narrow minded workers with limited ability to take the ball and go with it. They constantly have to be given orders. They complete a task then stop and wait for the next order. Not good.

Telling kids to not educate themselves is horrible advice. I didn't need the military to learn discipline and self respect. That came from my parents.What do you propose a military driven society? WW2. The US had help from Russia, England, Canada, Australia. Germany had 164 divisions in Russia. 35-40 divisions Italy. 65-70 Divisions France.
