  • @AAGMR Forse dici così perchè le tue orecchie sono "rincitrullite" (nel senso buono del termine) da tutte quelle Elettre vocalmente anoressiche che affrontano quest'aria come fosse "Les oiseaux dans la charmille".

    Per quel che riguarda lo stile, attendo a ciò che dici, la Moser è una delle più grandi Mozartiane di sempre - pur avendo una voce anti-mozartiana.

  • the more I listen to Edda Moser, the more I love her. She is wonderful in this role !

  • I like Madame Moser very much; she's a real Elettra. But there was also Julia Varady - a great performancer of this difficult role.

  • Sopranos come in all shapes and sizes. Personally I find the bigger, dramatic, darker voices far more exciting for Mozart. Edda sang what was in Mozart's time the prima donna roles - queens, aristocratic ladies & heroines, so her voice is appropriate to the lofty characters. For Elettra in Idomeneo I do like Edda and Carol Vaness (another big, dark Mozart voice) & Hildegard Behrens who sang this as more of a Mad Scene.

    they both have the most mozartian voices!!! and they understand the music better than anyone... probably diana damrau is in the same league, but she she is a loght coloratura soprano, her voice is not as heavy as theirs, but you are right, these two women are the goddesses in the Mozart Oliymp

  • @silvr94 She is a Soprano Dramatico, it is impossible to have light vibrato.

  • @TheBasilio Su vibrato es perfecto, el vibrato no es un problema vocal, o sólo que sea un caprino :S pero Edda tenía un vibrato maravillosa y con ese timbre tan espectacular era pefecta para estos papeles :)

  • Powerful and truely dramatic, although not the right tempo. I like it faster. Check Alexandra Deshorties' version on my channel. :)

  • Strange. Every Moser-recording I stumble across here sounds totally different to the others. Maybe because these aren't the original versions?

    Furthermore I simply don't like her voice. It's just...TOO present. Everytime I hear her I have to think 'Please, a bit less would serve the purpose as well!' It's the same with her Donna Anna.

  • well i accept your opinion... but i think her voice is magnificent. but the singer is a soloist so shouldn't his/her voice be very present?

  • I agree. Also, I think her voice presents SO much drama.

  • Of course...but not THAT present if you know what I mean! :D I really appreciate what she's doing because she is one of the best coloraturas out there, but her lyrical qualities are quite low. Look, if you song a 'Non mir dir' you need to express love, devotion but at the same time also grief and sadness. And if I hear Mdme. Moser sing it I think of the queen of the night being angry about someone. Maybe her voice is just too strong for me.

    But anyway, it's a question of personal taste. :)

  • You should listen to her Iphigénie en Tauride, especially "ô malheureuse Iphigénie". Now if that's too strong you should listen to a soubrette.

    I agree. the more dramatic the singer's presence, opera is supposed to be attention grabbing and intense. if these qualities are not their, I get rather bored

  • @AccidentalTouch - Edda Moser is always "present" and those who love her love her for this as well as all her other incredible musical gifts. If you want someone less "present" then may I suggest you listen to many of the other singers out there who are less so.
