@devildawg1117 Since rake is typically determined by the frame neck angle, unless you go out of your way to rake-out the frame you will just have the stock rake of the '73 XL. The vast majority of springers have no rake built into them, so most will work. Hope this helps. --Al
@knucklesandbones Thanks. Some call them "Speedster" bars. Originally on Knuck's and Pan's. The center-section is also the top clamp/tree. We sell them on the site.
I have an 02 M2L Buell as a donor but not a sportster chassis, do you have kits that I can put the motor in? And if so, how much for the roller? Thanks
nice kit, ive been looking at your kits on ebay, just waiting to pick my bike and ill be ordering one, if i started with just the gas tank frame and motor, will your kit really finish the bike from there?
@steacy91 If you mean based on the Level 4 kit, then I would say you are pretty close with the exception of the small stuff. However, when shopping for donor bikes, I would still recommend you buy a whole bike (even if it is just a wrecked one) because:
1) It will have a ton of little handy parts you will need to finish your build
2) You can earn back some build budget or savings by selling off parts you aren't going to use like wheels, tires, swingarm, etc.
Awesome build... Can you tell me if you had to do any modifications to the tank to keep the front end from hitting it? What did you use for a fork stop? Thanks...
@nmssis I appreciate your comment. Typically, a customer's geographic location doesn't matter as we ship kits all over the world including far flung places like Australia. --Al
bike looks badass....well done. i have a question and i'm hoping you can give me a starting point. i have an '05 1200 and i've decided that i HATE the look of the oil tank and the cover on the other side. i'd love to get an oil tank like the one on this bike but i have no idea where to start and what i'd have to do with all of the electronics under there.....do you guys sell a kit to take care of all of that crap under there?
@tonyantonelli2580 Were you planning on hardtailing it also? We have a bracket kit for remounting the electricals once it has been hardtailed, but not if keeping the rear end stock. --Al
@BEOSChops i wasn't planning on it but if it means getting rid of that ugly-ass tumor growing out of the side of my bike, i may just have to. care to fill me in on what i have to do and what i need to order? thanks in advance.
@MrCttj If memory serves, they were 3" wide rims. It depends on manufacturer of course, but Metz, for example, recommends 3.5" up to 4" for this size with 3" being acceptable. --Al
best bike i've seen so far... where can i get those handle bars? I have a stock sporty and not a lot of money, so i wanna lower it and change the bars.

Yes, the bike just has a stock carb on it. We got the air cleaner out of V-Twin Mfg's catalog (part #34-0510) and converted it to fit. It is made to fit Bendix and Keihin 3 bolt carbs so we had to open up the throat and change it around so it could be used on the newer bike. --Al
how much of a difference in £££ would it be to have a genuine HD springer front end? as found on the cross bone? he one with the tappered sides i think.
how do springers compare to the regular forks? thinkin about putting a springer on my nightster but i dont want to loose all comfort.... kick ass bike guys
Suppose it is like many things, it's all in what ya like, but I never have really felt like there was too huge of a difference. Some springers do have a tendency to be bouncy and bottom but this can be remedied with a shock retrofit.

Hi, I am looking for an old school handlebar for my sportster, a reproduction of the panhead would do great I think, can you tell me where to look to buy one. Tks
well theres a cafe sportster kit in development right now. If you search yahoo for roland sands cafe sportster you can check it out. Ive had this idea for awhile now. But im asuming this kit is gonna be 4,000+..........so im kinda shoppin around right now
Looks like your kit beat HD to market as it looks just like the '48!! Nice bike. Exactly the type of conversion I would do to the Sportster with a few additional tweaks.
Cool looking bike. Next spring you need to ride that thing to desmoines after it rains then look in the mirror at all the crap in your face from not having a front fender, That is, of course, after you stop making faces from your back and butt hurting so much from riding a hard tail.
clean up those tail light wires and put a box on that battery , i'd like to see one with chrome and a nice frame and tank paint job that matches, nice looking style, good job
nice man! the bike looks great i've got an 08 nightster that i'm thinkin about doing the hardtail rear section on over the winter, this bike really makes me wanna do it.
Nope, we have NO front end wobble. Is yours at high speed? If so, probably lack of trail. Is it a low speed? If so, wheel not centered correctly. Is it during braking? If so, brake rotor not centered correctly. Either way, it is a serious problem that must be fixed before you ride it much more. --Al
