The Apple is an excellent idea for a bank, and the lid idea for a storage pot. A set of various sizes; you have canisters. How about some dents in the side, then you have a Pumpkin! Add a little leaf by the stem for an additional touch...
you could cut a little slit on the side of that, and call it a money box... an apple for a rainy day sort of thing.... Who said that a money box must be a pig?
What a great idea for a gift. : ) At one point, it looked like a pomegranate, which were considered good luck in Ancient Greece. I suppose one could make oranges and pears too. Thanks for uploading!

Would it work to cut the top quarter-ish off, to make a lid so you can put things inside once fired?
