@losing2woody I like Fulks, too, and I get what you're saying, but it's more than a little presumptuous for you or me to be telling country people what "real" country music is.

@antijoke Its not presumptuous to state a fact, if anything its courageous. Country music came down from the mountains, brought there by europeans. Once you take it into the pantheon of rock and make it style over substance, then it becomes a different genre. They don't want to call it rock, because then it has to compete with rock, so they call it country and real country gets pushed back up the mountain. Wheres garth now ? up the mountain playing real country ?

@antijoke p.s i'm more country than any dallas boy with a big hat. I live in the mountains of the lake district, and i work in the woods. You can't get much more country than that. America made country music cos we sent over the ingredients. I blame chet.

Anyway, I'm all for letting country people decide what country music is, so you can have your definition, my kin and friends in Kentucky and Tennessee can have theirs, and I'll keep my 90% Yankee self out of it.
