quand vous en ferez autant, cher theNatalia, vous serez autorisé à exprimer ce type d'avis.. Latry est loin d'etre de faire l'unanimité en tant qu'organiste....
What I want to know is what organ that last console shown belongs to. If the organ itself sounds as promising and sexy as it's console would suggest, it MUST be a winner.
I'm pleased to see that Guillou isn't a copier like so many others that claim to be "composers". This is one of the few truly original works that have been seen in recent times.
I have the Stefan Franck recording too. Good luck with this toccata! I am currently learning Bach's dorian toccata. Please post your version when you're done.
Sonic splendor from this exceptional performer and composer, all recorded in an incredibly alive acoustic ambiance. One feels the pulse of the creative mind in such flashes of brilliance. The slide show offers an astonishing variety of cases and consoles, from the more modern and spare to the more elaborate and highly decorative. This is a great showcase for Guillou and a wide-ranging sampler of the panoply of fine instruments available today. Really splendid in every way! * * * * *
Many thanks for posting this video! Needless to say, this is an impeccable performance! I love looking at the instruments from around the world! When I was young, I was given a book by a senior organist that had photos of the largest instruments from around the world. I don;t know what has become of that book. It would be great if you could edit this video to contain the names of the organs that we are viewing. Just a thought. Thanks.
Many thanks for the video. I am new to the performer, shame on my ignorance, brilliant toccata. I have made this a favourite as not only do I want to hear the performance a few times but I want to see all those amazing instruments.
Outstanding - extremely showy and yet very "organistic". the composer really coaxes unusual sound combinations from the instrument. Performance entail loads of virtuosity. Great recording - thanks for posting.
GREAT!!!

So I see this organs with rolls moving from village to other global village and people even want muslims in Europe after that classic elite cabal.

Does anyone recognize the crazy-big console at 1:33?
eelgar1857 1 year ago
It is in Lübeck, I think.
giwro 1 year ago
@giwro It's the console of the big organ of St. Marien, Lübeck.
heskethfortescue 1 year ago
@giwro yes, it is the Marienkirche in Luebeck. Kemper organ, built in 1968 with 110 stops! It is crazy high up in the rear of the church

I'm working on this Toccata right now,
and it is kicking my butt something serious.
Stefan Frank has a really good recording of this
piece. I should post it

This work so basistic, and typical Guillouan style, like Bartokian the Allegro barbaro.

Only Jean Guillou can compose and perform like this and get away with it. Really nice video presentation, thanks for posting.
