I had the same problem as you. I eventually got it working but then my SMART status changed to failing. Has this happened to you? I think there may be major problems with disk managment/filevault 2.
@sup414141 The next day I took it to the Genius Bar; got it diagnosed as a Bad Hard Disk using their toolset (even though disk utility didn't show any problems). It was under AppleCare and they replaced the disk after it came in two days later. It was replaced within 15 minutes while I waited (usually they can quote up to 5 days). Got home used file vault 2 to encrypt the 320GB/7200 disk took about 5 hours after doing a clean install of lion using the Apple Lion stick. :) No problems since!
