Hi, have been watching your video's that are very helpful in creating sound. What I am interested though is analysis of incoming voice for example. To derive a set of parameters like transients, beats, volume changes, pitch following, etc. that can be used to drive other patches, perhaps to generate video. It would be great if this could be added to the todo tut list ;) Thanks for the great tuts so far!
You might want to post that in the video description/title for the sake of clarity.
As complex as this patch appears as first unlock :) emulating Autechre isn't as easy as throwing a bunch of cycle~ modules together with some gain~ objects. The sound synthesis they're doing is a fair bit more complex and would involve keeping their patches much cleaner with subpatchers, etc.
@aeko In retrospect that's actually very encouraging. I have a soft but steadfast love for autechre and it was disappointing to think that one of their patches could seriously look like this. I'm making changes to this video now.
@dude837: Um, this patch isn't by Autechre. AT ALL. This patch is by PowMod and has been thoroughly discussed on the Cycling '74 forums. It also sounds like shit and is incredibly messy, garbage patching. Might want to do more research before you claim to have something from someone who didn't make them.
@aeko You are correct and I am embarrassed. Honestly I downloaded the patch, the patch was named Autechre, it had a vaguely Autechre sound, that was good enough for me. More research next time.
I've been waiting for a video like this for a while! autechre pretty much got me into max msp, so seeing what kind of methods used are really fulfilling. though they might not be actual autechre patches, because they are for the most part much more organized from a picture that they released.
never mind the capitalist crisis - as long as my inbox regularly updates with "dude837 just uploaded a video"....I can smile :-) Must return the favour someday
meditative. this will be a good tutorial series. maybe some more javascript after?

If you want proof, go to recordlabelrecords and search for Powmod. It's all there.

@dude837 Actually, Sean Booth did claim this as originating from autechre. And that it is nothing special, the equivalent of a 'sunday postcard'.
and there's quite a bit of interesting things to learn from it.

@midinerd though when I read back on it now... I'm not sure what to believe.
